In the next 3 drafts we already have 2 mids Waterman, Matera, plus a really good mid this year if that is who we choose so do we really need to get a mid that may or may not make it at 31? To be honest I would rather Charlie Cameron or Dwane Wilson at 31 But some of the things said about young Boots are pretty appalling.

Should have quoted me for added affect.

Well losing Thomas is like us losing Le Cras
And losing Shaw is probably the equivalent of Hurn.

So yeah we'd probably get a good deal for those guys.
Hurn is 2 years younger and would not be told he's no longer wanted at the club.

Thomas and Shaw have 1 AA between them. Just think given the injuries (Thomas) age and personality clash (shaw), they've been very fortunate.

I'm just making a comparison of players as to why Collingwood received so many high picks/players for their trades.
It's not like they gave up nothing, they'll be hard to replace.

Thomas is a better player than Le Cras and both have had major injuries - both leave holes in their team.
Hurn is a great player, but I'd imagine Shaw's loss would be similar to us losing Hurn.

At there best Thomas isn't fit enough to lick LeCras boots.

Collingwood Thomas?

I agree, to an extent. When fit he was a great hard running wingman, however at LeCras best, he is the best small/med forward in the game.

Thomas would be more valuable to us given our midfield predicament, however a fully fit LeCras is probs the better player overall.

I'd be happy to swap ash smith+49 for Bootsma . Physically late developing but has the right tools to be a solid player for us . Look at fyfe in his first 2 years bit of a bean pole then at the start of this year he was huge !

Lol why would we take Charlie Cameron at 31. He probably won't get drafted let alone using a 2nd rounder on him. If Charlie Cameron is the reason we downgraded all out picks and kept our 2nd rounder i'd be a tad worried.

If impey is around at our pick 28/31 I wouldn't be upset if we took him. He will be a gun I reckon.

Ive got nothing against Bootsma as a person, but we dont need another project backman, we need classy midfielders, and we arent going to get good mid prospects by trading away top picks for later picks and then losing upgraded second round picks on fringe players at other clubs who cant cut it.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens..

fyfe was a gun from the get go, skinny but was a superb player. it wasn't until after he done his shoulder he took his game to another level.

OK , so if were targeting an inside midfielder who will still be left at pick 11 & 31......
If you think Sheed or Acres will we still be available , pass the pipe because those drugs must be really good.

IMO there is a very good chance that one of them will still be available at 11.

Remember neither could test at the draft camp so a lot of other youngsters have stepped up to claim interest. Broken collar bone and dodgy shoulder does not help your draft standings.

Do you actually believe that?

I'm with you.

Lecca is the one that's overrated somewhat on here. Thomas at his best has arguably been Collingwoods most damaging offensive player (from that wing, half back, high half forward position)...

He isn't anywhere near as consistent as Pendles and Swan and he is prone to injury but he can turn games and own games ...

Lecca is a very nice half forward who has had limited impact when played further up the ground. At his best an elite finisher but ultimately a similarly brittle body who is a fixed half forward who lacks in defensive pressure.

Thomas is a better player than Lecca. We really overrate Lecca....
