He should have gone to the club rather than walking out of his wafl match and not contacting the eagles til the following monday

I'm guessing you (along with many of us) have no idea what sort of business was going on in his life at the time. I heard it was an urgent family issue, which would take priority over football any day. He handled it like any 19 year old would have given his situation with the amount of stuff that's over his head at the moment. It probably wasn't the best decision at the time (and it has probably been blown way out of proportion by the media), but would you expect?

Either way, I hope we keep him and it'd be great to see him on the park in 2014. :thumbsu:

He can't take 5 seconds to go "coach, somethings urgent has come up, I'm off!" ?

Exactly what this guy said:

He can't take 5 seconds to go "coach, somethings urgent has come up, I'm off!" ?

I have no problem with the club supporting players through tough times but it's a two way street, Take 5 seconds to say to your coach or a team mate to say I got an emergency I gotta go. I'm not trying to cause an argument between us and no one will win this argument because it's our own opinions

Yeah, and I respect that.

Oh well, I've had enough of speculating on people's private lives anyway. :p

Watching you boys knock off North on Foxtel. Been busy lately so am unsure of your list movements, can someone tell me if you retained Josh Hill?

For what it is worth I spend a fair bit of time in WA, and you are my favorite team in the state. Doesn't mean I like you though. Freo are serious caaarrnce. Not a Ross Lyon thing either. Just basing that on their fans

Josh hill was traded back to the bulldogs for Ryan griffin. Slight overs for us but I think Ryan will fit in ok

Don't mind that and i'm surprised GC did that trade considering they using five picks in the national draft at this stage. Even if Collingwood finish as low as 11th (behind Essendon) in 2014, then the compo pick would only end up being pick 44 before other compo picks push it down the order. (assuming they still exist).

Only compensation for the Gold Coast is that the draft might well be deeper by the looks of things.
They did the same thing we did to get the pick, traded a pick they weren't going to use. Even if they don't use the pick next year, it is good insurance if they think they may. Or they can trade or package it.

Has to be used next year. But yeah they were't going to use it anyway so why not.

Ben Lennon sounds like the guy we should have been targeting for mine. Doubtful he's around at pick 11 though.

Sure does, but then tomorrow a new player will be highlighted on the AFL and we'll all think they are what we need.:D

Lennon is quick and likes to kick goals. 189 cm is a nice size for a bigger mid which is something we need and he is versatile in where he can play and has good foot skills which is what Simpson likes.

If Sheed does go before pick 11 it means a player like Lennon will slide.

  1. Boyd
  2. Kelly
  3. Aish
  4. Billings
  5. Koldjashnij (no go home factor here for the Lions)
  6. Bontempelli (Pendlebury Mrk II)
  7. Freeman
  8. McDonald
  9. Salem
  10. Scharenberg
Still leaves Lennon, Sheed, Acres, Hartung (who sounds like exactly what we need), Crouch, Dunstan, Drumond.

And that doesn't include any tall's other than Boyd. We could get the 2nd best tall in the draft at pick 11 if we went best available.o_O Could take be the "expect the unexpected" call we've heard whispers about?

You've left out Taylor.

Simpson has played along side Brent Harvey, I don't think he'd be thrown off by the height and neither am I.
Taylor is target #1 in my eyes.

Not many people would be expecting it.

Guys bookmark this post, as I have the answer as to who we will select. I was bored, and was getting signals from the universe, or mother earth to check out Nathan Freemans highlights for some reason. I was wondering why Freeman? I heard a voice say 'you will find a clue in his video'. So I watched and found out it his destiny to join us. See for yourself at the 4 min and 12 second mark.

Freeman is pick 11.

Another slow midfielder? why?

...

I'm not a huge fan of Freeman, overrated in my opinion. However the one thing I can't fault is his awesome acceleration and breakaway pace. He is hardly "another slow midfielder".
He's actually extremely similar to Shuey, perhaps lacking the quality ball use on both feet and still needs to develop his outside game to help him win more possessions.

Edit: Agreed he didn't use his pace much in the highlights video, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have it! And one would expect him to learn to harness his pace better once he's in the AFL system (although if he ends up Melbourne that'd debatable) ;)

Smith had blistering pace at the combine too ! Don't see him use it either ! As for freeman his poor disposal and blind kicking from packs will not be part of Simpsons criteria !

Yeah obviously i'm just going over the highlights. The post I was replying to was mentioning it. He looked damn slow though. Obviously Yeo has been in the AFL a couple of seasons now but he is undoubtedly fast. I hope they target best available regardless of mids.
