About to get some insight...

2:44pm: The Gillette Trade Radio team will speak to Collingwood national talent manager Derek Hine from 3pm AEDT. Tune in as Damian Barrett and Terry Wallace discuss today's early trades.

I 100% agree, just seems to be a plethora of supporters out there who think its the worst trade of all time, without looking at the picture side of it. 6 is just a number as is 11, if we have good mail that who we want (which is obviously a needs pick for us) is most likely available at 11, in essence 6=11. We could have traded pick 1 for pick 18 if we knew whoever we would take at 1 is guaranteed to be around at 18, an extreme example i admit but it gets the point across

That's the problem, no guarantees. A 'gentleman's agreement' to leave our preference alone means nothing

So why hasn't the Yeo deal been done?

Because the board of Brisbane are imbeciles, losing the plot because of the flux of players wanting to leave. Something is seriously wrong up there. The sacking of Vossy is what sparked it, just so they could make a play for Roos who had no intention of heading north, it’s those decisions that turn businesses belly up. The players loved Vossy, yeh he made some mistakes but we are only human. Forget Vossy's first 3 horrific years (The board influenced a lot of those decisions on Fevola), the last 2 he did have a sense of direction and with Harvey this year they were improving and the players embraced it and now it's been scrapped. They have lost two really experienced guys who the players loved, can’t blame some of them wanting out.

But hey one clubs lost is another’s gain. Brisbane have been wanting our pick 24 or 28 now? Trying to play hardball when really there in no position to do so as their club is falling apart, they should be taking it while they can rather than holding onto disgruntled players. 31 puts us higher than Freo, it's now a take it or leave it proposition. But for the sake of the players integrity and the clubs profile it should get done this week, otherwise there will be serious backlash and if Brisbane got any sense they should do the deal and move forward.

I'll make it clear unless there is an absolute coup at pick 11, I will always regard this trade as being completely piss-weak and devoid of any intestinal fortitude.
West Coast Finches at the trade table.

Freo are allergic to drafting key forwards

McCarthy would be the wisest choice for Freo. Tanner Smith will head back east probably and he looks a more natural defender anyway. Taberner looks good but another young key forward to develop alongside him is good for their future. Because nothing but aging talls in that forward line.

I hoping we snare Acres at 28 to Kane. Hopefully his lack of footy this year puts him down the pecking order. But geez he didnt have to play many games to showcase his talent. And then Garlett at 31?

Looks like just what we want. I hope he is our choice at 11, now.

I think Collingwood will take Freeman at 6 then Acres at 10 if he gets pass Brisbane at 7 and Melbourne at 9 and then West Coast takes Sheed at 11. Colingwood probably got an "agreement" with West Coast not to take Sheed at 10 and got pick 6 to get Freeman and then hoping Acres will slide to 10.

Didn't the Eagles instigate the trade? There has to be a reason to it.

Would centre around Yeo me thinks. Which is where the majority of my teenlike angst is coming from.
That and again we get no young punk wearing our shit on stage at the draft. Mind you would have been the tripanel anyway.

Funny how Plough said a few weeks ago that Sheed was a reach at 6....

West Coast have been very keen on Sheed and i would say they have done their homework.

Worst case we do not get sheed i am sure Acres will be there at 11.

I'd say there is a real chance Sheed and Acres are both gone by 11.

Brisbane have always known the deal will get done - they are simply waiting for the best outcome for them which makes sense considering the situation they find themselves in.

Not sure plough knows enough about the kids to make any informed judgement on draft positions - I've never found him knowledgeable in this area.

The swap of picks with Pies good move as it ensures WC maintains a 2nd rnd pick. Unlikely Sheed will be gone by then as draft even and clubs will go 'home grown' when in doubt.

Not exactly putting my faith in the Eagles drafting dept at present as i think we may lose out in this deal. However, all we can do is wait and see. I would of preferred to keep 6 so we have no chance of losing the guy we want and waiting till teh last minute to see what Freo do about Gumby and thefore making Brissy sweat to see if we could of got Yeo for 44.
I think we went too early..like Kevin Bacon was trying to do in the tractor "chicken race" in Footloose until his shoelace got caught...

If we get our man at 11 then it has been a very astute trade ! We then still have our second rounder which may pick us up cripps garlett Wilson or even a 2nd round slider like marsh ! Think he will be gone but look at darling ! I think we may be able to use pick 49 and compo pick to get into early 3rd round too !
Ellis
Yeo
Sheed/Acres
Cripps/Wilson/garlett/slider
Jansen/Impey
Good trade period get it done
