Good game down at BHN today.
High scoring affair with both sides playing fairly.
BHN gifted some easy goals by the umps in the last quarter but still deserved the win.
Pretty aids effort by the Eley Park boys to not stick around for a beer after the game.
Not 1 bloke stayed!!! Function or no function you guys are only 5 mins up the road so 1 beer is not too much to ask.

Oh and to the bloke I kicked (Ira?) when trying to kick the footy, hope you're okay buddy.
My foot is very very sore! This man played in good spirits and was a very good footballer.
Jethro!

Jethro, I actually think the thumbs up should be given the the Eley park boys after stopping there warm up and coming to clap the opposition skipper on to the ground for his 100th. Probably wish they didn't after he had 7 majors at half time.

Kudos to eley park

Yes that was pretty good sportsmanship and a solid :thumbsu: for that.
I thought the game was still played in good spirits even through some dismal and curious umpiring but my comments re: not hanging around I firmly stand by.
Good sports when you thought you were going to win. Sore losers when you didn't.

Possibly the quietest Monday on this forum during a footy season since the internet was created!

Has this Penn muppet scared everyone off?

Have some of us blown the trumpet to loudly before a ball was bounced?

Someone kick us off, Whipsers?

Round 4 Tips

Chadstone vs Box Hill North - BHN by lots.
Richmond vs North Brunswick - NB by 5 goals.
Point Cook vs Manningham - PC by 3 goals
Swinburne Uni vs St Francis Xavier - SFX by 2 goals
Eley Park vs South Mornington - EP by 1 goal

Box Hill North VS Chadstone - BHN by a fair bit
Richmond VS North Brunswick - NB by a couple of goals
Point Cook VS Manningham - Manningham by 4 goals
Swinburne VS SFX - Swinburne by 3 goals
Eley Park VS South Mornington - South Mornington by 2 goals

Round 4 Tips:

Chadstone v Box Hill North - I understand a prominent figure for Chadstone is celebrating his 32nd game..line up from opposition to be expected, but still a 25 goal loss.
Richmond v North Brunswick - interesting game, both teams have been patchy but expect the snakes to strike.
Point Cook v Manningham - another cracking game, if PC register under 15 points they will suffer a defeat.
Swinburne v St Francis Xavier - with some of SFX lads making some pocket money with the generous odds offered last match, they have splurged at a nearby fast food establishment and therefore will be run off their feet by the razors.
Eley Park v Sth Mornington - another exciting contest, sharks to triumph in a nail biter.

Round 4 Tips:

Chadstone vs Box Hill North - BHN by 187 points.
Richmond vs North Brunswick - NB by 3 points.
Point Cook vs Manningham - PC by 8 points.
Swinburne Uni vs St Francis Xavier - SFX by 31 points
Eley Park vs South Mornington - EP by 26 points

Is there is a bit of history between Eley Park and Sth Mornington ?, could get a little fiery is what i'm hearing.

FUNNY how u all get on here saying there snipers there dogs number 9s dirty behind play!! how bout u go out put ya head over the footy and play football like its ment to be played, if u dont like the contact play another sport, Might go down and watch the game between the 2 teams that started all this sniper talk last year, HOPE Both teams (Sharks and Tigers) will play the ball hard and that its a good game of Footy!

That is all!!

Looks like SFX have just created some history with SM as well.

Grant Ryan, South Mornington. Striking, 3 matches.

Perhaps Sth should be promoting some of their excellent young reserves players. It is odd to have a reserves side winning by 10+ goals a game, and a senior side losing by as much.

Still, they beat us.

I was told that Grant Ryan is the same guy that put his hip to the face of one of our players last season, putting him out for the year with multiple fractures. He got away with that one.

Two very good games at KB this weekend. Our reserves suffered a one point loss to a side they have never (?) beaten. Our seniors held on after building a 5 goal lead at the last change. Gutsy effort by Nth B to coem back in the last quarter.

So... SFX are now clearly the favourites. BHN's win over EP last week kept all the other sides close to the top. It's going to be a dog fight for finals!

With the closeness of the competition if SM don't turn it around shortly they will struggle to be in the mix. SFX may well have been under rated by many on this forum. They look good.

IN more terrible news, Mt. Lilydale look like they will be coming back again next year. Heartbreak to clubs in D4 who were happy to see the back of them.

What a season... I wonder just how long it is going to take to get some clear idea of the finals make up in D4 this year.

Having played Chadstone yesterday, must say that there culture and attitude to the game was greatly improved from the past couple of years. They are still under done and are reliant on a number of fill in players but they are on the right track if they can keep their guys together and work hard.

My Round 4 Observations

Went down to Point Cook yesterday and had a close look at Manningham.

Would have to say, left there yesterday bitterly disapointed. For a team to play in a prelim the yr before to a team now sitting equal second last with one win for the yr (against chadstone) they would have to be the most disapointing side thus far in 2011. A club that was expected to play finals looks washed up.

They lack pace in the midfield and have a very ageing list. At present couldnt see them making finals.

Point Cook on the other hand have turned there form around. The young Auciello brothers dominated along with Mark Pozzuto and the every green big Marshie ended with a lazy 7. If they can stay injury free they will beat most teams at home with that strong breeze that blows a gail at the dunnings rd end.

Highlight of the round goes to Dan Penny (BHN) to kick 17 in a game is a remarkable effort against any opposition. This guy is the best small foward in the competition. Could he bag a 100 in 2011??

Will travel out to Beaconsfield this week to see for the first time SFX vs Eley Park in match of the round tussle.

Stay tuned for more reports..............:)

P.S Happy mothers day mum :)

Funny how you mention the ressies game first Waz, not even your cheating could get them over the line! You openly addmitted after the game that you couldn't get them the win, what a disgrace you are. This is why games get out of hand , you want your club to be respected ? try getting someone to umpire your two's that doesn't cheat. This has gone on for too long , I'd rather lose than have wins gifted to us even your players were embarassed!

P.S Happy mothers day mum :)

What's more remarkable about Dan Perry's (Chaddy prez mispronounced his name thus a new knickname has been created) achievement is that he had 16 goals to 3qtr time and played the entire last quarter in the midfield. The coach has some explaining to do. Why he didn't help him get to the 20 goal mark I do not know, maybe Perry's regretting those 5 or so goal assists now. Chaddy played a superb last quarter so 20 probably wouldn't have happened anyway.

Maybe coach Zaraffa's influence was more pronounced down at the Cobra's than realised. His assistant coaching has been instrumental down at BHN in getting them to 2nd on the ladder and still improving.

So I take it you didn't think my umpiring was very good! Or my aftermatch speech :)

Are you taking the piss mate? Waz was clearly joking and always umpires fairly, everyone knew he was just having a laugh when he said that. Why didn't you speak up at the time rather than waiting til you got to the safety of your keyboard.

I am sure coach Pezzimenti has the full the support of the commitee. Just like Zerafa had haha

The beating drums are starting to beat & the natives are getting restless.

Maybe they should play the kids :)

No i,m not taking the piss and I let him know on the ground what I thought of his umpiring. I had already left by the time the speeches were made and no body laughed at his attemp at humour by what i.m told. If you thought his umpiring was ok then maybe you are taking the piss. I've played the last eight years against your team and nothing has changed, having your president umpiring is a joke.
