It says so right there. I don't know how to dumb it down more for you.

No it doesn't, slippery person aren't you.

The question was which picks were used to get Mills, show me where you answered that. You posted all the picks used for the entire trade period, not that specific pick.

I know why you're reluctant, because you don't want to admit that Sydney were able to get an elite talent for picks in the 30's.

Harp on about the swans all you guys want.....
If there were no academies up north Brisbane and Gold Coast would fold pretty quickly... And yea they might merge but I doubt that would work out well either.

Most people are in favour of the other Northern clubs having an academy, I certainly am. It's Sydney having one which is the problem

I showed you the picks we used and the picks they became which is all the information you asked for, in fact more information as technically the points system means that left over points become different picks. It is super obvious what we paid for Mills based on my post, at least to a person who wants to understand.

We wouldn't know but if Mills and Heeney were not in the competition, same with the players from other academies (say 8 players in 2015 draft) that means 8 players from Victoria, WA and SA would have been drafted instead, 8 players who are not in the AFL now because they are not good enough. The academies have made the entire draft pool better.

Why don't we have Academies in Canada, the amount of talent we are losing to curling is staggering.

I'm being flippant but my point stands.... Personally, I don't care if we lose players to other sports because we wouldn't know anyway. I don't think I'm being rash to say it wouldn't dampen the general public's opinion on the quality of football one little bit.

Its just my thoughts, end of the day nothing is changing, happy to agree to disagree.

With 18 clubs we need a much bigger talent pool than when there were only 14 clubs. It is only logical, otherwise the standard of the competition is only going to get worse.

Except people like you cry over the lack of talent for 18 teams.

This is building up that talent base.

I have never cried about that. Nice hive mind post bud. What do you mean by 'people like you' anyway?

Not only does it not bother me, I think it's a complete non issue. Someone has to be on top, someone has to be on the bottom. Someone has to be the 22nd player picked each week.

I can see what you're saying but I don't think this matters. I enjoy the contest, I don't care if the 22nd player picked on a team is a Liam Jones or an Isaac Heeney.

Well of course Hawthorn are not crying over the talent pool, it is clubs like Carlton, Brisbane and St Kilda that are worried about it and know it needs to be developed.

Come on man, don't play that card. I'm capable of forming my own opinions despite who I support.

They've had arguably more access to the talent than Hawthorn anyway.

So the academies are helping Cartlon and St Kilda now? You sir are a muppet.

4 clubs benefit from the academies and the rest are hindered because 4 clubs have a distinct and unfair advantage on them.

Hawthorn are a destination club though. I would argue that Hawthorn's 28th best player is better than Carlton's 22nd best player. It may not sound like a lot but those sort of things make a big difference. If we can somehow change the system so Hawthorn's 25th best player is equal with Carlton's 22nd best player then that would help the competition a great deal.

Yes they are. It means there is a much greater talent pool and a guy who is drafted using pick 70 in 2016 is about the same as drafting a guy using pick 55 in 2013. It makes a big difference.

I know exactly which picks were used to get Mills, i know that they were picks in the 30's, it's also obvious that you're extremely reluctant to admit it because you realise the massive advantage it is to Sydney.

You cannot be this naive? This is a competition, you need to beat other clubs. If St Kilda and Carlton improve but other teams improve more because they have an unfair advantage, then the net result is St Kilda and Carlton are hindered.

You should probably be more worried about your own club mate.

I'm more worried about the inequalities of the AFL which gives a powerful club like Sydney even more advantages over the rest of the competition.

But in true form here is yet another Sydney fan in this thread trying to deflect the discussion onto Melbourne
