Same. I couldn’t relax until we kicked the first goal of the fourth. Ghosts of the past.

WE’RE IN A GRAND FINAL!!!!!!!!
So scarred am I from '97 that I couldn't watch the 3rd quarter after that big useless bearded, muscled, tattooed, pretender kicked a goal in the first minute. The old "surely they can't from here" came back and I had to look away.

Bevvo did an interview with Channel 7 (Soda?) as he was walking off the ground after the game and he was very honest an open .... especially standing up for ADZ.

During the interview he mentioned the difficulties the club faced the year following the 2016 premeriship and i'm sure he mentioned some player issues. Did anyone else hear that? I'm guessing he was referring to Stringer and Dalhaus?

A lot of football department turmoil with McCartney and Dalrymple leaving after 2017, and issues surrounding the division of power and responsibility in the football department (Dalyrmple left after Bevo overruled him in the rookie draft after 2017 season to draft Gowers from our VFL team instead of whoever Dalyrmple had scouted and determined to be our pick)

Way out-there prediction:

Chairman Dan to give a one-day only exemption from COVID lockdowns so that friends and families can celebrate two Victorian clubs playing in the Grannie.

Back into lockdown the next day, but imagine what a boost it would give the community - and also to his numbers.

Huge Congratulations to all the team and the club. Injury riddled year, Covid travel and accommodation travails and still they overcome. I am so very proud of this group. Must especially mention JJ, Hannan R Smith and Schache as guys I have questioned on ability or application but they delivered in spades. Well done and you have my sincere apologies.
Credit to you, Mr Walker :)

Yep, was a real moment of honesty wasn’t it.

Spectacular win. I am still speechless.
I said we needed to dominate the middle to win and we ******* did. Playing a competitive ruck and key position players is obviously the key.

Loved the game of two players I had completely written off Schache and Hannan. Continue this and they will be part of footy folklore.

Shoutout to JJ. Far too maligned for a loyal, Norm Smith winning, premiership player. Glad he smashed it.

Bring on the Dees.
What a great post.

Just a random tidbit.

Justin Leppitsch on commentary and special comments is excellent, best addition channel 7 have added for a while.

Anyone else waking up wondering if last night was a crazy amazing dream?

1st thing I said to my wife this morning was “it is sunday today isn’t it” & then “so that game really happened last night didn’t it”

just pure joy this time, as opposed to 2016 when i cried tears of relief after the game

walking on air today (well laying on the couch nursing my hangover, but you know what I mean)

rang the old man after the game and said the only shame was that we couldn’t be there in the stands to cheer them on this time

1 more to go and we make 2016 look like a stroll in the park

Honestly during the game I was hoping Alir would get it more often. Our players should have handballed it to him. His game sense and disposal was sub VFL level.

Why do you think the Swans were happy to see him go? They weren’t going to pay him the big bucks, as an interceptor shouldn’t also be a turnover merchant…. It defeats the purpose.

Yep. They just don’t get it, my husband could not understand why I could not relax and enjoy it at half time

Spot on.

I had a Carlton supporter mate text me at half time asking if we were celebratng yet

I replied, ''Youtube the 97 PF''

Still didn't get it!

Only thing that spoiled last night was that for 3 quarters I was constantly stressing that they'd kick 3 or 4 quick ones and get a sniff. Never happened tho. Almost at the start of the 3rd but arrested by the hand of God/Bont

Bonts goal at ht was the sealer. I even made it on tv after that calling game over 🤣

Realistically, once we blew out that lead in the 2nd we were never in danger. The largest half time margin that any team has ever come back from, in any VFL/AFL game, is 52 points. We were out by 58. The fat lady had well and truly sung.
