Schache took some solid hits tonight. Good on him for getting straight back up and going again. Slowly building some toughness, long way to go but small signs are better than none.
Thought he had a really good day. Happy with the goals but happier that he kept hitting packs and getting involved at ground level.

And Bont played a mere mortal game and got holding the ball three times. Lipinski looked better. Not that he is. Bont was pretty much taking the piss.

When Essendon scored their second goal everyone cheered like in was an Auskick game. Our supporters wouldn’t stand for that s**t. Theatregoers.

That was a lot of our supporters cheering their second goal :p

He's a changed player since he returned from his 2nd stint in the vfl this year. Very proud of him because that isn't easy and he deserves massive credit. Hope he keeps it up.

I know people will be curious about the last time we won by 100.

So I did the research. https://finalsiren.com/MatchDetails.asp?GameID=4319&Code=bf175670a2d6d7636ed017fffdca3837

Round 1, 2006: Western Bulldogs 25.17 167 def Richmond Tigers 7.10 52

Brad Johnson had 23 touches, 11 marks, and kicked 5 goals.

Eagleton 4 goals.

3 goals to Matthew Robbins.

2 each to Crossy, Bob, Boyd, and Adam Morgan.

Singles to Scott West, former captain turned traitor who netted us premiership hero Tom Boyd, Hahn, Wayde Skipper, and Gilbee.

(And one Dale Morris, in typical Moz fashion, puts up the Moz special of 10 touches and 7 tackles, as dependable as ever)

There's a nostalgic fun fact for the night.
I was at that game having flown in from Chicago the week before. I'll never forget beating Richmond by 115 points. That was the game that started my five years of tipping for the Drive Program on 774ABC. I did my tipping in the ABC studio that week and flew home the next week and that began the broadcasts from my home until the end of 2010. That was also the game that FoxFooty did the TV segment on me, but I was on a plane home before it was aired. Those two weeks here during the Commonwealth Games and the footy were probably two of the happiest weeks of my life. Over 13 years ago. Doesn't seem that long.

Cordy's best game in a while too.

Its amazing what he's capable of when not asked to mind gorillas on the last line of defence. He looked like the player he should be when matched or given an overmatch against a similar sized or smaller opponent like we saw last night.

He's been burnt by necessity and has suffered career wise. However, he will be a much better player for this torrid experience when he gets to play alongside a quality and genuine chb next year.

Surely those two incredible weeks in 2016 between smashing the Hawks in the semi and the final siren on the first Saturday in October are up there?

Up there, yes, the GF was the happiest day of my life, but I only arrived a few days before so the weeks leading up to it didn't have as much of an impact for me. The Cubs winning the World Series on Nov 2 was equal happiest(just can't split them), but also a sad day for personal reasons. Those two weeks in 2006 changed my life just when I needed it. You can read about it in my autobiography due out next year. ;)

By that stage only the highly inebriated Essendon fans and their cheer squad were left. Someone had to give them a rousing reception for doubling their goal score at about the 22 minute of the final quarter.

Where can I order an advanced copy ?

Ok now find out if 21 consecutive gosls is our record, and where it stacks up league wide. Ron The Bear you're the bigfooty stats guy right?

It's not possible to ascertain the all-time record definitively since the order goals were scored in has only been recorded in recent times.
Im pretty sure its the second most ever after the Cats kicking 23 in a row last year against Freo. I read 16 was the record before that.

23 goals has been done on at least two other occasions.

South Melbourne v St.Kilda R12 1919 (could be as many as 27 goals) https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1919/151619190726.html

Geelong v St.Kilda R17 1899 https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1899/091518990909.html

There are other definitive streaks of 19+ (https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/1993/021619930516.html) and 18 goals.

Extrapolating from quarter by quarter scores, the most I can find for the Bulldogs prior to tonight is 14 in R14 2009 v Hawthorn https://afltables.com/afl/stats/games/2009/071020090704.html

I remember a game at the MCG in 1983 against Richmond where the score was 10.3 to 0.3 at quarter time, but I'm fairly sure that was the maximum lead.

God it ended up being funny when it went into bombers forward 50.

Me and few other supporters actually clapped when they kicked their 2nd goal

Great night, doggies supporters behind me and 3 mates (Essendon supporters) ended up buying us all a round of beers

I’m pretty drunk

The world is dying due to global warming and that. And that Donald Trump is a bigger c••t than Jake stringer but only just

But tonight everything is sparkles and unicorn s**t

I hate the Bombers so much especially because I lived in moonee f**king ponds for a while. Which is just over the river from the ‘scray but could be a world away.

John worsfield. James Hird. Mount Alexander road. Mouthy twats on the Craigieburn line. Matthew Lloyd. That bouncer who refused me entry to the Waterloo cup hotel.Jake stringer. Do you hear me Jake Stringer? YOUR BOYS TOOK ONE HELL OF A BEATING
Good ol’ Waterloo cup hotel. No insult to not be allowed entry there. I was refused a number of times in my college days.

Was Will Hayes exactly what we've been missing? Has a bit of spunk about him. Knows how to shake and bake. Is that what we needed to transform us into a more ruthless side? A bloke like Hayes who has the right moves? That play where he ducked under a bloke out on the boundary then sent us inside 50 was out of this world. Everyone in the side seemed to be playing with a bit more swagger which you'd have to think was a result of the Hayes inclusion. Unreal. We've never kicked twenty goals in a row without Hayes in the side.
