Hmm.....I seem to remember posting that link earlier.Did my post get the heave-ho just because I thought this sign stuff is a load of crap ?

Not sure mate... I didn't delete it..

These people just make Geelong supporters look like a bunch of hicks with their dopey signs. It's not gonna change Jr's mind you know.

It won't stop there. After this has no effect they'll probably have a call to arms. "every time Gaz has a shot at goal let's turn our back on him"

It's how these guilt driven folks operate.

Guilt driven folks, are you for real, I will be setting fire to a jumper with number 29 on it if he misses a goal..:D

I think its a great idea however I have to agree with some other comments made, what about the rest of the team that have made sacrifices to stay at Geelong maybe we could make it less about Ablett (which I know defeats the purpose a little) and do signs with somehting like 'Keep Our Team Together'????

Especially if he has signed on the dotted line some months ago.

if he goes to the GC perhaps next year when he plays against Geelong at SS they can make signs that say 'Comeback Gazza'

Nah, they'll carry a huge crucifix into the ground.

It's when his son gets to 17 years of age that they'll plead for him to come back.

Because he'll play 100 at GC, making them eligible for father son too.

Will be a bit hard to play 100 games in 3-4 years, which will be how long he'll be able to play at the Gold Coast without the likes of Bartel, Ling, Selwood and Corey around him to block his tagger week in, week out. He'll be so battered and bruised by getting scragged by the likes of Crowley, Jones, Ling and co. week in, week out without getting anything like the protection he currently gets here.

Good to see some loyal Cats supporters doing something positive. This "Visual Petition" is a simple show of affection for a much loved "favourite son". It should be remembered that loyal supporters like these have been supporting their club through all the hard times and the good times for many years, at games all over Australia, club functions and family days. These people go in to bat for their beloved players week after week, year after year. They will still love Gazza even if he goes to GC. They are good, positive, hard working people who get off their butts and "DO". And they will keep "DOING" despite the ignorance and negativity shown on this forum by a small minority. Keep up the good work and stay positive girls, most of us are with you all the way.

Oh by the way... that small ignorant minority know who they are, and will no doubt prove it with some more childish ranting, and possibly some more personal abuse. As for me, I'm enjoying the ride... Go Cats!

thats exactly what this day is about, put anything on a sign that you want, I for one love your idea..:thumbsu:

vinum,that's me and you :D
Oh....and SJ ;)

You sure? It can't be.
If I was ignorant I'd expect 100 home made signs to look anything but uninspiring.

Someone needs to 'get off their butt' and 'do' by getting 7-12000 signs made up.

I'm amazed nib haven't been pulled into this. All the talk early was about having '25000' signs.

Now it's degenerated to 'make your own'

Good luck to them, but I can see this ending in tears.

This is the original post, I think it says "we should ALL make signs' nowhere does it say that 25000 signs were going to be printed, so get your facts right, but hopefully someone does get on board and print off some signs...

Hi guys,

Was having a chat on the Ablett Gold Coast chatter board and came up with an idea...

Our next home game on Sunday 4th of July at 1:10, we should ALL make signs to say "Don't go Gazza" or something similar. Tell as many people as you can via BigFooty, Facebook, word of mouth etc.

I think it's worth a try to show in a positive light how us supporters feel.

It would be amazing if we could get many to do it, for the cameras to capture it too.

We as supporters can't really do anything about the situation but we can only try to let him know how much we love him and want him to stay.

If your in, fantastic the more the better! If not and you think it's a silly idea, keep it to yourself :thumbsu:

As much as we all want Gary to stay one thing Geelong has stood for during our successes over the last 3 years is TEAM. No one player is bigger than the team. I just feel that having some sort of Don't go Gazza Day is going away from that team ethos that has served us so well. We all want himi to stay we love Gazza and to be honest i don't think we need a bunch of signs at a home game for Gary to realise that. He just needs to look at all the kids running around in the number 29 to see that. He knows we love him and want him to stay. We don't need a special day for him to know that. This football club was here before him and will still be here when he goes when ever that is. If he stays thats great but if he chooses not to play for us to go somewhere for money then so be it, we will all be back next year and just as exited. Gary or no Gary, because we all support the club no matter what.

So after it's been explained to you that no one expects Gary to change his mind because of this; and that it's a patently ridiculous to suggest that home made banners and chanting could impact that club in any way; and finally, that it's primarily for fans to let off steam; the only thing left for you was to attack how it's being organised. Really??

That's your last refuge of attack? That's pretty funny!:D

You're clutching at straws mate.:thumbsu:
