Surprised about Ellard too, seems to have really good Colts form (from the numbers anyway) and looked like a dangerous small forward in the champs.....perhpas at 175cm he doesn't quite have the tricks and polish that a Garlett does?

He's as footy smart as any of the boys in this draft proberably smarter due to his size very good at pushing into the the space behind the leading forward takes a lot of marks inside 50 prob averages 2-3 goals a game

Just wondering how late call ups to SS work as clubs have already submitted their list of 50. IIRC Mourish got a late call up last year, how did that work?

AFL Club applies by nominaing him to Shifter and his crew. They will always allow it on the basis that they will be disadvantaging a kid.

Believe me, no matter how hard you cry to Shifter, unless an AFL Club asks for you, you don't get a spot.

Agreed, I was reasonably impressed by his work at the champs.

A Calder bloke told me polkinghorne, laidler, arrowsmith, armstrong, farmer, daniher & maric to dc and putt, cattapan, robertson and P smith to ss. Phil Smith will not be able to participate due to knee injury and Maric will be hampered due to shoulder reconstruction.

Why would multiple clubs nominate Daniher if Essendon have pretty much locked him in with a 3rd round pick?

Seems a bit silly doesn't it:confused:

I would have thought it obvious, with the new bidding system do clubs want to see how he tests before making a final decision whether to offer a higher selection??? Not trying to be a smart-alec just offering an alternative explanation.

Scrrening : Dangerfield O Keefe Curnow HEnderson and Kangars
State: Delaney Donohoe Scott Barhman someone else

Clubs can bid for Daniher under the new father-son system so he's hardly locked in as a third round pick, or locked in as an Essendon player. In fact, say a rival club makes a bid for Daniher, Essendon refuse to pay the price required to get Daniher, then the club who put the bid in is obliged to take Daniher with the bid selection. In that case, every bit of information available is necessary in order to make the right bid decision.

As for the draft camp and screening noms, the fact they closed about 8 weeks before the draft camp/screening sessions is reason enough for late noms to be allowed, particularly as players can improve in the post carnival period, the weather improves and some pressure finals footy is being played. Private testing by clubs is not permitted, so there has to be some mechanism in place for the improvers who jump into a clubs thoughts to be allowed to test at screening. There were a handful last year who got called up late on the back of good late season form.

tim tim tim you've got it all wrong!
As reported in the Geelong addy today the Falcons boys are.....

Draft Camp: L. Henderson, C. Kangars, E. Curnow, G. O'Keefe, P. Dangerfield.

State Screening: L. Delaney, A. Donohue, A. Scott, J. Barham and the three you missed were C. Lynch, J. Baxter and J. Steven

Apparently 12 is the most for any club in the land....

Are O'Keefe and Curnow likely to go in the national draft or is the rookie draft more realistic for these two?

Sorry bout that, can tell u he has averaged 8 or 9 marks a game this year playing colts, resies and league a lot of people really rate him so no suprise to see the invite

No drama Megla. I totally agree. He will get a gig. Plenty of clubs interested and his move from colts to ressies and then the seniors has been seamless. Good kid too.
