or stkilda might be resting key players over those last four easy games
Yeah who could forget Round 19 last year - Montagna, Hayes, Riewoldt, Dal Santo, Goddard, Gilbert all rested!

It makes my last midfield upgrade decision tricky. Essentially I want to pick the player out of Montagna, Ablett, Boyd and Stanton that will score best in DT finals. Ablett is the best scorer in general, Montagna has the best schedule, while Boyd and Stanton are probably the least likely to be rested.... Who to take?

Gram still listed as another 4 weeks away. Looks like i'll have to trade him to Goddard, can't afford to have him on the bench for 6 weeks.

Everyone else thinking similar?

lmao that was when they were sitting pretty in the top 2. No way in hell they'll repeat that this year when they're competing against Fremantle, Carlton, Collingwood and the Bulldogs for those top 4 spots.

Anyone else thinking Barlow > Ablett next week?
If they score their averages this week then Barlow will be 408K and Ablett will be 496K, so an outlay of 88K for an extra 23ppg which seems reasonable for the best player. It will be Ablett's lowest price for the year but he would only have cost 193K in total (Barlow's original 105K + 88K next week) which seems an absolute steal.

Is it worth making a massively sideways trade to get myself some bench cover? Barlow's withdrawal killed me last week.

I have only $6,500 in the bank and 7 trades left.

Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Malceski, Harbrow, Shaw, Maguire (Webberley, Roberton)
Ablett, Swan, Bartel, Gibbs, Watson, Barlow (Shuey, JKT)
Sandilands, Hille (Warnock, McNamara 77k)
Pavlich, Giansiracusa, ROK, Goodes, Brown, Higgins, Pods (Playfair, Dennis-Lane)

I'm happy with most of the squad (apart from Shaw, but he's gonna have to stay at this point). Just wondering if I should bring in someone like Gysberts for Shuey or JKT in case there's a late withdrawal. Could obviously use him as a cash cow later in the season but not planning on making any real downgrades if I can help it. With only 7 trades left I have to be conservative I guess.

Thoughts? Any help is appreciated :)

I wouldn't. Not with 7 trades left. You have fairly good cover elsewhere, and Shuey should be back shortly you'd think. I especially wouldn't do it now when there is not any candidates about (that i can think of) with very good JS.

EDIT: Just read that Shuey may have glandular fever. That kinda changes things. Even still though, I'd be wary of Gysberts for the abpvementioned reasons. Melbourne supporters could probably tell you more about his JS though.

Mine is fairly simple...I have $360k to spend to upgrade Waters. My backline is definitely my weak spot. Is currently: Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Carrazzo, Kennelly, Hunt, Waters (Webberley & Roberton). Have decided to hang onto Kennelly (would need a double trade to upgrade him anyway- have $42k in bank).

So the best options appear to be:
a) Gilbee ($352k, ave: 90)
b) Malceski ($341k, ave: 88)
c) someone else??

You should upgrade Webberley when he peaks over Waters to give you a solid bench player in Hunt. Unless you're still aiming at the car I guess...

Cheers. With the way Hardwick is playing the kids, i kinda felt Webberley would be decent cover, but yeah, maybe you're right. Ideally, Hunt would be on my bench and not the field.

And no, the car is WAY out of my grasp. Am sitting about 7000th.

I think you could look at sam fisher who provides amazing value at 340k or there abouts

I actually like the look of Grimes. Worried about his incosistency, (3 <60 scores) but if he drops in price again, definitley look at him.
Still not 100% sold on Fisher, but he may prove me wrong if he keeps this up.

I actually dont mind Sam Fisher. I think the saints are starting to adjust to 'life without roo' and are starting to play some solid footy again. I was a bit against Stkilda players a few weeks ago because i wasnt quite sure which way they were heading. As crazy as this sounds i thought they were gonna drop out the 8 at one point. However They have had two wins in a row now and look to be back on track. Id definately be taking a punt on Fisher over Hargrave and could see him having a solid second half of the year. He missed the first two games and if you put his score of 37 in round 7 down to an off day, he has had a very solid season. We all know he is capable of being a DT Gun. Also the saints have a very enticing run home. The only thing that slightly deters me from fisher is that he can sometimes be given shut down rolls but other than that i think he is a reasonably solid pick with a big upside:thumbsu: A BE of around 55 and date with richmond this week, now is the time to get on him if you want him at a good price imo

Eyy Mate!
Your in a very solid position indeed. Definately not without a shot at a new set of wheels imo. To have 10 trades left and technically only one upgrade left is great. I think davis to Heath is a good trade if you think heath can hold his spot. Even if he doesnt you still have webberly there as cover who imo has great JS. He is hard at the ball and not afraid to back himself. Dont know if you remember hardwick has a player but he was hard and i rekon these are the sort of qualities he would like to see in a kid. Id upgrade nason to either Goddard or Scotland. Scotland if your into the whole unique thing (only in 27000 dream teams) Or Goddard obviously speaks for himself. Personally id probably go Goddard simple because i think he is very close to a must have and would look great in that back line. Also there are rumours of a Scotland slight knee injury which is also somthing to take into account.

After that you will be left with 8 trades. Id probably hold them incase a maceski goes down or Jpod starts to drop off the boil( not that i think he will or just incase). Also you will have plenty of trades to counter any LTI's you receive. You may even find youself make up some ground on some coaches in the top 100 who have gone to hard to early and simply run out of trades (Been there Done That). Other than that your in a great position! Good luck with it all

Don't tell me you haven't learnt your lesson after trading in Hughes after one game a few weeks ago?

Sorry came across a bit wrong. I swear i said get Heath this week and Gysberts than after (meaning next round)

i take it you didnt watch heath play

Was away all WE and didnt watch any games. Was he really bad??

Why wouldn't you wait another week for Gysberts? What if Cunno pulls a tonne?

Yeh he will be 2 weeks away. Might even consider Shuey instead, all pending on money ect and if i want to cop a zero.

Was semi-invisible
...aside from a couple of key turnovers.

Though I have him in my "get cash" trade option for this week.

My "get guns" option only leaves me with $14,000 in the coffers, I'm leaning toward it...

What do you reckon? Sideways trading a-la-carte:

Gram => Fisher

Hall => D.Thomas

My issue is that I need high scores to compete in my league (only interested in league these days) and with Gram out and Hall erratic (to say the least), I want some stability (yes, I know Fisher hasn't exaclty been Mr. Consistency, but I'm hoping his late start means he's coming good right about now).

Will leave me with 8 trades and a team that I can sit on for a while (barring significant injuries).

Yes true instant points.

I doubt Dale Thomas and Sam Fisher would come into discussions much if you are after consistency.
