Match Preview
Who Has the Power to End the Season’s Blues?
A low start, a couple of wins, some bad losses, and a struggle to find and maintain their best football. So far, this would describe the season of both Carlton and Port in the e-AFL. Port hasn’t win away, while Carlton has no victory at Marvel. Someone will have to give, right? Will we see a tie, instead? Can one of them use this week’s game as a cornerstone to a better year?
CARLTON – Not long ago, Carlton had back-to-back victories and was traveling interstate to play a winless GWS who had just lost embarrassingly to the Saints. Only one win out of the Top-8, confidence was high, there were similes everywhere, and the same speech was heard throughout the club: “the worst has passed; focus is on keeping moving up in the ladder.” However, things haven’t happened as were expected since. They were dominated by the Giants and by Geelong in consecutive games, and now they are back to searching their souls for answers.
PORT ADELAIDE – Port lost its first two matches. Since then, the season has been a rollercoaster ride, with two wins, two losses, a draw, and no consistency whatsoever. It would have been a story of Dr. Jekill and Mr. Hyde, if not for the fact that Port has lost all its away games so far in the season – against Fremantle, Cats, and Demons. At home, Port’s record is 2-1-1. Unfortunately for the Power, the match is in Melbourne. They will need to find a way of winning far from Adelaide if they want to play Finals.
Prediction: Carlton, by 5.
