The issue has been that traditionally, 4th let alone 5th has been a fair way off the pace.
An extra game purely for the sake of it is a waste IMO.

Yep - The only benefit will be for the Edfl coffers with the extra $20 entry fee (what a joke for non-grand final games). Why reward the Edfl ? My understanding is that players don't get paid for finals games anyway. IMO don't reward the team that finishes 5th - they should be striving for top 4 finish-otherwise they don't deserve to play finals. IMO...

I’ve never understood this. If WRFL can run a top 5 and play final series for one week longer why can’t the EDFL?

Adding teams to the comp and making everyone play each other twice is different. But an extra week of finals should be no issue

ps I’m not saying this because ek finished 5th we could of finished last and I’d say the same thing. If 5th place is on the pace which I definitely think will be the case going forward I don’t see why the EDFL wouldn’t cash in for an extra week. 90% of leagues run top 5, As a spectator I Love finals footy an extra week to watch is always a good thing.

Maybe they don’t want to go head to head with WRFL on GF day and have crowds have to pick between the two

2 big retirements at Strathmore, Matty Knight & Captain Sam O' Loughlin. That's 3 very senior players who have now left so far for the Mores. You would assume Willy Jury will play plenty of games for Willy next season as well.. Big spots to fill.

Teams may lose players, but not all teams will lose 4 walk up starters incl there captain and 2 of the better midfielders in the comp..

Don’t worry about EK mate lol…. But Yes he has a year of football left, back to his old club for his final year of football to play with his old mates. Can’t knock him for that, he gave his all for us for 4 seasons. Wish him all the best! Joey is a legend of a bloke!

EK are flying, the amount of people that have followed the new coach is ridiculous.
I’m hearing there is many recruits that have not been announced. Looks like moving on the old coach was the right move. Don’t always believe what you hear.

For a club that has repeatedly stated they don't care what people think, there's no shortage of commentary in defence of themselves.

Definitely a-couple big losses there, as every team has had I’d say. However majority of the players are well into their 30’s with senior football at edfl prem standard probably behind them next season. Or in victors case prioritising a different sport next year hence the step down In Competition to St A.

Lockie the only one with youth on his side.

Luckily doesn’t take a brain surgeon to see ek have had a significant point drop next season so plenty of room to build from.

Like moveonboys mentioned (not sure who he knows about), but plenty of recruits yet to be announced stay tuned
