His height I feel will make him a harder matchup at the next level and he has great mobility for his size I see him as another Daniher. It will come down to personal preference for who would rather Lukosius or King and I couldn’t really begrudge anyone who prefers Lukosius.
Fair enough, a lot of footy between now and November, Lukosius for me largely because he's had great output at senior SANFL level

Yep, the ability for big blokes to mark vertically overhead is probably the hottest commodity in modern footy.

M.King: Daniher & Brown
Lukosius: N. Riewoldt

I’m not knocking Lukosius but his SANFL senior sample size is about as small as you can get without actually playing.

One (very important) game, where he kicked 4 goals. I would understand your argument better if he’d played 4 - 6 games but accept he never got that opportunity.

Season 2018 will provide 80-90% of the performances which determine where these players all go in the draft.

Just on the way they play I can still see Lukosius outperforming the King Twins this year but for 2 guys over 200cm I expect them to take a bit longer to reach their potential, their results up till now have been outstanding.

As I stated still plenty of footy inbetween now and november, I'm sure they'll both show a lot this year but going off of what has happened Lukosius is my preference atm. In saying that their playstyles are different and it's hard to compare them

Going to be a healthy top end this year, plenty of players you could make cases for going pick 1, at the end of the day it will come down to who has the pick and who they prefer. Both McGrath and Rayner weren’t in the mix for pick 1 at this time of year it will be interesting to see which players make that leap.

The fact he's even being considered to play SANFL as a 17y.o KPF is amazing. Then to walk into a prelim and dominate it, yes, small sample size, but at least there is a sample size.

How many VFL games did either of the King's play last year?

Not allowed to play VFL by AFL Victoria.

Only 19 year olds or top agers unlikely to play TAC finals get a chance to play VFL.

It’s a very different system to WA/SA.

Victoria and SA have different setups to their youth/state leagues to be fair.

Ok fair enough wrt Kings.

My point regarding Lukosius still stands though.

I have no idea who will end up better but I think Lukosius has the highest floor.

Nice to get a few names out there.
well done.
As already mentioned a few WA players omitted who need to be there.

I thought Raynor has a lot of hype this time last year. You look at some of the draft threads and they listed him at the top end.

Yeah - I thought that too. Mail on Rayner was strong all season. Only started to wobble as a likely #1 after the Champs and through lack of TAC Finals exposure.

yeh, last year there was a big group being discussed as potential #1's early on:

Higgins, LOB, LDU, Rayner, Brander, Fogarty all were touted as the potential #1 selection

Not sure about having being spoken about as a possible #1, but Ballenden was also high on the list.
Stephenson was another that was spoken about very highly.
Fogarty & Brander definitely were though and were taken at #12 & #13 respectively. Not even top 10. Things change, don't they?

I guess Lukosius and King to go 12 & 13 confirmed?

That's not what I was saying, but most years show up bottom-agers to come into their own in the latter half of the year.
Lukosius looks crazy-good and does Rankine, but possible some October/November birthdate players may yet come through and show even more promise.

In recent memory:
2015 Weitering was being touted as possibly the best player early in the year. He did go at #1
Who would have had Clayton Oliver in the top 5 at the start of the year? No one would be my guess.

2016 Petrevski-Seton was one of the players largely regarded as the best talent. He went at #6\
Who would have had McGrath as being the best player in the draft? Anyone?

2017 Brander was the player I recall generally being spoken of as a serious #1 contender. Went at #13
Andrew Brayshaw as the second best player? Don't think so.

There will always be players that come out of nowhere. Should this year be any different?

More of a sarcastic take, but naturally players will progress at different levels, so it's safe to assume someone that hasn't been spoken about as a top 5 pick will bolt up

Aaron Darling had a great return to footy kicking 3 goals in a half today in the first pre-season game of the year. Had that unlucky injury last year I’m hoping he gets a fair crack this year

Good to see him running around out there once again. Hopefully he gets a full season in and pushes for an AFL listing (which should’ve happened last year)

I’m not puting too much into the results but thought I’d make a list of players who impressed me in the first pre-season games for Sandringham vs Dandenong. Also I’m only noting players who played better than I expected.

This covers both games including 2019 draft hopefuls

Sandringham
2019
Louis Butler
Tyson Milne
Jackson Cowden
Tyson Murray
William Mackay
Corey Watts

2018
Alastair Richards
Liam Stocker
Cam Dickie
James Rendell
Will Kennedy

Dandenong
2019
Jeremy Burton
Cody Weightman
Jarryd Barker
Jack Toner
Kyle Hindle
Matt Johnson

2018
Daniel Frampton
Matthew Cumming
Braden Nelmes
Lachlan McDonnell
Bailey Schmidt
Lachlan Stenning

Aaron Darling was also very impressive in his first game back which I’ve mentioned. I’ll be watching Calder vs Eastern and Murray vs Dandenong next week.
