reid in isnt like plucking lewis taylor

its not that unlikely

Yeah, Reid in for McLean isn't out of the question. McLean offers more forward, but Reid might offer a bit more around the ground. I wouldn't pick him as a key forward though.

If it was early-2021 Reid, it'd be a no brainer. He just hasn't really looked like getting going since he got back. Apparently he was decent in the game vs Dogs (no real detail) and with McLean being quiet for a chunk of the match (he did get involved and may have saved himself late), it wouldn't entirely surprise me if a switch was made, but it'd purely be on reputation (and reputation of times when Reid is fit and firing).

Interesting to think how GWS & Sydney have somewhat swapped styles of play.

GWS were once the great ball movement & speed team while we were the absorb D50 & play contested footy team. Now, that's been reversed since we excel at ball movement while GWS try to absorb through their D50 & contested footy.

I reckon GWS will protect the corridor at all costs to make us kick long down the boundary. I don't think we'll fall into this trap, we'll either take short kicks down the boundary then look to centre the ball once near our fwd 50 and/or utilise our run n carry with handballs to engage the gws players clogging the corridor then back our precise kicking to hit targets once their defensive system breaks down. IMO Lloyd and Mcinnerny will be crucial to this type of movement.

We'll try to get Buddy working up the ground earlier in the game to bring Taylor out of the GWS D50 & screw up their matchups. Taranto has moved forward for GWS & has kicked a few goals the last couple of weeks, he's a very dangerous player. Cunningham or Rampe could matchup on him depending on who goes to Toby.

Very excited for this game!!!

True, he was moving well earlier in the season but has looked cooked since he got back. It's not out of the question, but if he is not fit then that ends the debate.

The only `real` issue for the swans is Hickey being unavailable.

Having said that, he should absolutely be with Mrs.Hickey
100%, family comes first.

Though I think if we are without JPK and Mills completely, it's going to be tough going against a Giants midfield that bats very deep. Wouldn't be surprised if we get belted a bit in clearances. Need our turnover and rebound game to be on point again. F50 conversion will also be important.

Agree. It's a tough one. I thought that Mclean had an OK game last week, most of his impact was in the final quarter in junk time. There was very little pressure from GC so not sure how much we can take out of the game. Whilst he has been more than serviceable and love the way he goes about it I could easily see him having zero impact in a final, particularly against the Giants who defend very well in the air. I'm on the fence. Reid's versatility could be crucial if we need someone to swing back at the tail end of quarters or games. One thing that really frustrates me with Reid is that when he takes a mark i50 he rarely passes it off despite being such a poor set shot. I'm going to get off the fence (without much confidence) - lets pick Reid. Doesnt deserve it but i reckon he would be fired up after being dropped and his versatility is a real bonus in a final.

Rowbum played over 80% game time last weekend. He's been increasing his performance each week over the last 6 weeks. It looks like the Swans have given him a minnie pre-season while still playing in the firsts. Horse said he had a couple of injures,, knee and ribs
Round 16 & 17 - no game time
Rds 18, 19, 20, 21 - approx 60% game time
Rd 22 - 82% game time.
Interestingly, his total disposals have increased with each game since round 18
Ill back Rowbum to be very close to 100%
I particularly like the confidence with which he kicked that goal from a reasonable distance and fairly tight angle on the weekend. I don't think he even entertained the idea he might miss.

Alright Bonz, best I can do is provide you the percentage of CBAs a player has that ends with a centre clearance for the individual.

Campbell - 25% (1 centre clearance from 4 CBAs)
Papley - 16.7% (7 from 42)
McInerney - 15.4% (4 from 26)
Heeney - 14.3% (2 from 14)
Kennedy - 13.8% (50 from 362)
Parker - 13.04% (57 from 437)
Gulden - 12.5% (3 from 24)
Hewett - 10.91% (15 from 139)
Warner - 10.57% (13 from 123)
Mills - 9.54% (31 from 325)
Florent - 8.87% (11 from 124)
Rowbottom - 8.84% (16 from 181)
Blakey - 5.26% (1 from 19)

However much time and effort as I spent put into this, I would almost disregard it the numbers are that dubious, as there are a lot more variables at play that kinda don't reflect the players' worth. For example Blakey was actually rucking in a fair few of his CBAs, so of course he'd have less clearances than the guys he's tapping it to.

Mills is often the guy getting first hands to it and distributing to another player, who then gets the centre clearance, so his involvement in that clearance isn't counted.

Rowbottom's obviously had injury issues all year so he's really just been used to pressure at the contest, which explains his high tackle numbers but low clearance numbers.

And naturally the lower-CBA, impact players, like Papley, McInerney, Campbell and Heeney, will have higher percentages because they are often going in sporadically to have exactly that: a short burst. Put them in there for an entire game like JPK, Parker, Mills etc and I suspect they would be significantly less effective.

But still, interesting to read nonetheless.

Horse would be looking at the other side of the coin. How many clearances did your opponent get?
