After watching Roy thrash our attack all over the park on Sunday, I believe that England have found a test quality opener at long last. Some of the shots he played were glorious: slashing cut shots, powerful drives and launching pull shots. He simply had them all. I believe he would flay most test attacks around the park. His technique looks top class and it was a very convincing innings.

Plus ODI's & Tests have basically the same pitch conditions, field setups, bowling tactics, pressure levels, etc...

Without seeing his FC record, Roy just seems like the equivalent to Finch. Bloody great to watch when up and about but not a test match openers a$$hole.
