I keep reading Spurs fans blaming Levy for not bringing in backup this transfer window, and leaving Ange high and dry.

Ange was the one who stubbornly only wanted a squad of ~25, to the point that he was exiling a couple of very decent players last season who had been very good servants for Spurs.

Unsurprising. Not sure how this wasn't sent for a review immediately in game.

PL overturn ban
PGMOL back ref decision.

English football is going great.

it's literally against premier league rules to have a squad bigger than 25, so I'm not sure what your point is here.

No it isn't, you can have more players u21.

Arsenal fans should be pleased, Darren England in charge of the Bournemouth Liverpool game.

Yes, this Darren England of 2024 VAR on Luis Diaz…

My Pool mates hate this but also suspect after what happened with Oliver and Arsenal that England will be told to be on his best behaviour so they can use it as a "see, we CAN mend relationships between clubs and officials."

And why would we be pleased? That would be like saying Arsenal fans would be pleased if they gave Coote the match.

I am hoping for a game of the season contender between two in form teams and I hope at the end of the match we can say "wow really glad England didn't ruin this contest with bullshit."

Good to see that the MLS red card was correctly overturned, but if we had dropped points against Wolves then the damage would have been done.

Balancing act really. Can't have too many more than 25 because when fit you've got too many missing games.

We've had injuries since November. They keep reoccurring and getting worse whilst we are thread bare. We've been short since November. Not a bad time to become short. Just get through December and the window opens. Problem is it's the 29th and we don't look like bringing in a single outfield player and the injury list sees 2 return and 3 go out injured at the same time

The squad of 25 is still a rule though, so you are wrong.

SM is correct here.

U21 players are eligible to play in the PL but are not included in the registered squad list.

EG Liverpool has another 60 U21 players all eligible to play PL fixtures in addition to our registered squad of 22 players.

This includes players such as Harvey Elliott who is strictly a first team player.

That's the hilarious* part of it all.
Prefers a smaller squad, freezes out a couple of players.

Then doesn't use the U21s players that pad out the small squad. Injuries mount and fans just on Ang... Oh wait no the banners weren't for Postecoglou and his 400m spent were they.

*You either laugh or you cry.

You guys have a 23 man squad plus 56 U21 players eligible for PL football.

I'm really not. You've tried to jump in and be clever and completely missed the point that was being made.

Is Archie Gray an u21 player or a first team Spurs player?

We have over 25 eligible players in the premier league

Ange doesn't want over 25 first team senior players which includes guys who don't need registering who are u21 like Gray. That's not a big deal. Hard to manage mins with more than that.

The way the cookies crumbled is we have 8 players fit over 18 right now. Not 8 players available in totality.

He's either got to name Will Lankshear to start his 3rd game ever or Fraser Forster up front in a must win game Thursday night. That's where the 2nd richest club, with world football highest paid director in the Europa league is at

A lot of managers don't want bloated squads, Selles doesn't want one either, because of the quite rational logic that he wants all players to think they have a clear opportunity to play in the first XI, because otherwise their motivation and attitude diminishes. That doesn't mean you don't supplement the squad with younger players from the Academy or other young products.

Having a solid 20-24 players to play in any given game would be a great base. I dont think we got to where we wanted to in the summer. We were linked to Gallagher and Jacob Ramsey after signing Gray and Bergvall, neither materialised, so midfield was one short. Went for Eze and Neto, settled for a kid in Odobert. Against wing left short of senior players.

And somehow they thought 2 RBs, 3 CBs, 1 LB and a Ben Davies was enough to cover a back 4, with Spence not eligible for Europe. That's mind numbing with how stupid it was to think those 7 could get through 50 games.

It’s stating the bleeding obvious, but another finely balanced game week with impacts on the title race.

Scenario A
Bournemouth’s form line getting them a win at home over Liverpool, followed by Arsenal putting Man City away at home, and the Reds lead reduced to just 3 pts with a Merseyside Derby in hand

Scenario B
Liverpool’s performs like a top-of-the-league title chaser should and take 3 points in a high quality game at the Vitality Stadium, whilst Man City and Master Pep, buoyed by a CL escape act manages to expose Arsenal and Apprentice Mikel’s nerves to win a cagey tactical match. Liverpool move 9 pts clear plus that game in hand, and the title is 95% theirs to lose.

I’m too PTSD over City “long runs to titles” history to want them to win, could live with draws in both games.

They could both also draw it one draws the other loses
