* are apparently in the premiership window also!
How so?

The worst team to ever represent Carlton beat them!!

Who have they beaten?

Now the media are trying to help them take our Full Forward and most important player from us?!?

When we were rebuilding the media slammed us without mercy and we were given to concessions as to why we were so ordinary.

But these cheating pricks get the 'softly softly' free pass!!

Now they're in the friggen window??

What kind of bloody insanity is this???

Classic reactionary journalism and a sign of the modern mentality of focusing on something that has happened in the last 5 seconds (a win against WC), while forgetting the stuff that came before, which actually paints a better picture (two x almost 60pt losses, and only convincing wins coming against Saints, North and Pies).
Cornes made a couple of hilarious comments.
"the appeal of playing as teammates in a rapidly rising side" - this may have come from the 'staff writers' and not him
“Go and join the group that’s on the rise, the group that’s the most exciting in the competition"

Beating WC over there is a decent result for them, but it's not necessarily the makings of a renewed rise up the ladder. We beat Cats down there last year, which is arguably just as hard, if not harder. Sometimes the underdog wins, that's all.

The journos won’t change their point of view when the drug cheats crash and burn in the second half of the season... while Carlton start winning and end up being closer for a final than the drug cheats.

I'd just like to point out that * have played the current bottom 4 sides 6 times so far, and still have one more against the Pies.
They play North, Hawks and Pies twice.
They are currently 5-1 against those sides, and 3-8 against the rest.
But the media keep the love-fest coming.

I've also since had it pointed out (haven't clarified myself), that when they beat the Saints, the Saints were sitting 16th.
So, apart from Freo and WC, they haven't beaten anyone higher than 16th.

But let's look a little closer at the Freo and WC games.
Freo were apparently 10th at the time. They were leading at one point in the 4th and had more scoring shots than * but didn't kick straight - * win by 7pts.
WC (apparently sitting 7th). They were missing Shuey and Gov. Not sure about anyone else. They looked the better side for most of the game and were up by nearly 5 goals at one point. They lost Kelly early (only 21% ToG) and had to activate their sub. Then they lost Oscar Allen (47%ToG) and were down to 3 rotations on the bench for basically the whole second half. They still managed to lead at 3/4 time and managed to draw back level halfway through the last before running out of legs.
Look, they've certainly made the most of their opportunities, and you can't predict where a team will be on the ladder when you come up against them, but gee they've been lucky. I don't get the media love? My guess is that the media just aren't putting any thought or analysis into it, other than looking at ladder position and number of wins.

You can only beat who is put in front of you...

Obviously, but the pins have fallen so bloody well for them with their draw. To be able to play 7 games against sides while they happen to be 16th or lower, and still have one more game against the Pies. Would be nice to have some of that luck.

Having said that, my point is more about the quality of teams they have beaten, which seems to be ignored by the media while they're busy getting a Sam Walsh heat map over them.

Can someone less oblivious than me explain the "brave" thing?

Where did it originate?

Came from several media outlets when they were playing their top up players in games several years ago.

'So Brave'

It came even before that whilst the AFL allowed the dirty 34 players to play during 2013 and beyond - and sycophantic AFL Media describing their efforts to play under the “supplements saga” as “brave”.
