You have a point, but unfortunately players don't move clubs for 1 year deals. That's just the nature of the beast.
Michael wouldn't have signed for 1 year, and JJ was always going to get 2.
At the end of the day, Dean Solomon was playing as a key backman last year. We traded him for two third round picks and improved our draft position. We draft Michael in the PSD and he basically fills the role Solly was playing last year and is better suited to it. If we drafted Cloke to fill that role, I'd be critical, but at the moment it's hard to be critical of this decision.
I think this is a great move.
The only thing that concerns me about it is the reticence we as a club had to give players like JJ a 2 year deal, whereas we've given it to an outsider like Michael. Not sure that's right, but as we keep hearing, footy's a business these days
