Will be interesting to see if he does stick with the solid core of favourites or whether he does change things around a little given it’s a contract year for him.

If Gardiner stays, Fagan will play him. We can take it to the bank. I appreciate Gardiner being there in our club's dark times but the game style of top teams at present need more than a junkyard dog player lacking pace and questionable disposal skillls.

Just bring in Ross Lyon, bring in luke hodge as a full time assistant …. Pay out fagan and move on.

Yep let's bring in the guy who has made footy unwatcheable and there was so much toxic background (staffer paid out for harassment at freo) that even Carlton wouldn't touch him last year!!!

I am not sure replacing one particular player like a Gardner or an Answerth is going to fix much done back. We have gone chips in on building the back half around Andrews and for whatever reason (injury, system) he hasn't been playing anywhere near the standard he set a couple of years ago.

Both Gardner and Andrews look like they need six months off to try and get themselves right (no chance of that happening). We didn't have the luxury of gradually introducing these two through the reserves. They have shouldered a mountain of work right from the get go and I think we are seeing the results of that now.

The midfield looks fixable with regeneration via a youth injection, the forward line is stacked but I cant see an easy solution to our back half problems. A fresh set of eyes would be a start.

Fagan has been around long enough to know that we have gone as far as we can with this particular set up and i suspect we will see changes on field and with the coaching make up going into next season.

The coaching group needs a complete rebuild. They are bog average. We've gotten to where we are based on on-field talent alone IMO. You get posters quoting our forward efficiency and high scoring etc but was it due to coaching or talent? IMO if we had a decent forwards coach our team would be locking the ball inside our front half a lot more and probably score 3 or 4 more goals a game on average. IMO.

The defensive pressure of our forwards are ****ing pathetic. Sick of seeing oppo defenders running around freely on the rebound. **** this club.

Look at this a different way. Say we were Geelong/Sydney etc instead of us prior to 2016, ie had been entrenched in the 8 competing for top 4 etc most years.

Now then consider we have had the year we’ve had this year on the back of the previous 4 where we have gone to water in just about every big game we’ve played including finals.

Would there be more demand for change, not just on Fages but on the whole joint if our base prior to Fages and co coming in wasn’t so crap? Does he and the club continue to escape scrutiny for the continued lack of results in big games just because of where we came from?

When you think about it that way some opinions might change.

Won’t be surprised to see a lot of ex hawthorn people like hodgey end up at north
Maybe eventually Fagan as well with the tassie links.

we will beat some bottom 10 sides start of the year and he get re-signed.
Honestly have us most likely to drop out of the 8 and do a Port of 2022 so maybe not

with the assistants be nice to know if they do not have a plan B
Or if Fagan says no to a Plan B

We never try anything out of the box. Even 60 points down games over.
Lets see how Starc go in the middle.
Maybe Harris might be better up forward or Payne as Joe, Hippy etc getting out marked.
McStay going anyway put him down back. Maybe play Hipwood for a half of the wing etc etc

nope just the same same.

Attracting talented assistants to Brisbane is easier said than done. Most of the talent reside in VIC so convincing them to uproot their family and head north narrows the possibilities down significantly. Heck Deemons have two former senior coaches alone (Choco and Richardson), can’t see the lions ever being in that position. *Granted Richardson is their GM of Footy

I think we should have a quiet chat to Longmire - contract up at end of 2023. He has the ability to get the best out of teams, team oriented, makes tough calls and doesn’t take any crap.

Sydney are flying and they've rebuilt pretty quickly. Game style tweaked with lot of speed and good kicking added in rebound like Blakey, Gulden, Warner etc. One of their supposed weakness is in the middle which is being addressed with Mills moved there from defense (cough cough Starce.. c'mon Fagan)

Why would he leave and come to us anyway ?

I envy the Sydney system. Good young camp, strong coaching. If we can't win, I want it to be them

Great question - he probably wouldn’t but If you don’t enquire you dont know! Maybe a change, a new challenge and environment or to be the one that took us to a higher place. He had been at the swans so long - it might be time.

Horse will not be leaving what he just rebuilt. They'll be challenging hard for a few years, we will bottom out

I really don’t think we’ll bottom out though? Still plenty of talent on the list with more to come.

We've really got nothing out of Lyons, Zorko and Rich this year and still won 15 games. Can't see anyone else dropping off massively in just 12-24 months.

I'm not as confident. Bottom out maybe not. But we wont contend for a bit. Think we missed the chance with this squad for now.

Would be different if we weren't getting a massive draft gift and a couple of smaller gifts (Fletcher, Levi Ashcroft) over the next few years. Don't think we need to bottom out to restock the talent pool but need to make some adjustments.

Been in the back of my mind.

He'd be perfect. Still young enough to have the passion. Doesn't get involved in any games with media or the team but can be ruthless if he has to be.
