Fevola to Brisbane MERGED THREADS

Ok, I was disappointed at first that we were getting rid of a club champion such as Bradshaw, but having heard rumors that Bradshaw actually wants to return home to Victoria, that makes me feel better about it (providing they are true).

I think Brisbane are getting the best deal here.... but having said that this is the best deal Carlton have gotten so far for Fev. The so called Collingwood offer is insulting and I think this tops the Sydney offer (if there even was one). In a position where THEY are the ones who want to offload him, they are going to struggle to get market value. And we aren't winners by a clear margin, its fairly close - Bradshaw is a awesome versatile player (although has injury doubts in his old age) and Riscatelli is a very good defensive midfielder.

Out of curiosity would a Brown/Wellingham or Dawes/Wellingham have been more appealing than the Brisbane deal?

Hate dealing with the Pies, but a pick 14 plus Brown (or even Dawes) would have been way better. Brown is in the same age group as our developing core, and pick 14 would have put us back in the first round so we could get anther young KP player. We'd then get 2 young KP players plus Mclean out of this trade/draft which would have been a more balanced result for our list going forward. We might have gone backwards next year as the younger KP forwards develop, but in the long term it would be a much better result. The problem is these 2 players don't suit our list needs IMO. Yes Bradshaw is a decent KP forward, but he's in his twighlight years, and the Lions have been struggling to get him on the park for the whole season. The other guy is excess to our midfield needs. Obviously a difficult situation for the Blues. Even though I rate McClean, when it became clear Fev was on the way out, they should have reviewed that decision. Perhaps they were looking for a KP option early on and that's why they stalled on the deal. Who knows. But we really needed to focus massive attention on KP draft talent this year.

Anyway, seems to be the deal is done. So all these what if's don't mean much. If the players in question are flying down, you can be assured they'll agree, and you can be assured Voss has already spoken with Fev, and he'll go there. Blues admin just want to get the deal over with.

They should at the very least hold out until Friday to give others the chance to put forward an offer after other trades get completed. I doubt they will. Yes we were never going to get market value for Fev, but I reckon it could have been handled much better.

:)

Re: Fevola to Brisbane for Bradshaw + Rischitelli??

Will not be happy if this deal goes through.

If this deal goes through I expect a full explanation from the club why we offloaded our second greatest goal kicker for a bargain basement price. Not that we will get one.

I like both Rischitelli and Bradshaw but Bradshaw is just about finished and Rischitelli does not win teams games of football. Fev does.

Seriously Carlton, WTF are you doing?!?
.

Yep.

Bradshaw will be 31 this time next year, so probably get one decent year out of him. Rischitelli? What was the Mclean pick up for? Hadley when fit?. And we will be paying a fair share of Fev's contract........WTF???????

What have you done to this club Fev? We are taking a WELL BELOW market trade for a bloke who is Coleman medalist 2/3 years, AA FF, best forward in the game + still under contract. I mean ****, its like Fev is shit on our boots and we cant scrape him off quick enough..... Explanantion required.

If this deal goes through i will be pissed.

We are unlikely to win a flag next year....so why do we want Bradshaw? So kreuzer can develop?? what a load of ****!!!

He will give us one year!!! What's the point?? We would be better off trying our luck out with a pick in the 70s.

Riskyatelli is on par with Hadley and well behind scotland, Mclean, carrots, Grigg.

WTF are we doing???

Sticks should email all of us members and explain why he is trading our second best and most exciting player away for next to nothing.......to a team that will use him to beat us in the finals.....IF WE EVEN MAKE IT!

Interesting to note that the Jolly deal to Collingwood has been finalised tonight for pick14 & 46, l wonder if the Swans will make a last ditch effort tomorrow, as if Carlton have 2 interested parties maybe they can obtain a 1st round pick.

Agree 100%. Prefer a no trade and keep him in the Bullants for 12 months. :)

Naivety at its best ^^^

Naive is thinking that Malaysian Airlines/Tourism Malaysia partnership from an Islamic nation, wouldn't consider pulling its major sponsorship from the club due to continual poor press because of the drunken behaviour of a Carlton player.

They might not do it immediately, but when it comes to re-signing a new contract they might say thanks, but no thanks.

Pick 14 and a fringe player from the Swans would be much better. At least we can then get some KP talent in the draft. :)

HBF, that post is disappointing to me. Even if you accept the need to trade Fev it doesnt mean you should accept rubbish in return.

Since when is it ok to bring in 30yo+ players to a list? list filling from 7th position? FFS we are miles away yet we are supposed to accept this?

A list filler and a 30yo forward are not the answer.

Take a draft pick, scratch younuts, im sure there will be better bids.

Well then Swann (who is meant to be such a wizard) can sweet talk them into it or find another....

unfortunately i think the deal is done with brisbane
even if not what will syd offer pick 14 + .......................

I love bradshaw, but this deal is flawed. An ageing forward, and a surplus mid. Hopefully the Jolly trade will spark more offers but the Telechoice/Swan comments are ominous; we really should hold out till the end of the week... this is a desperation trade.

And what KP talent will we get with pick 14?

Names?

What happens if by that the time selection 14 comes round the only half decent players left are onballers and they are risky picks?

Anyone?

Yep, why on Earth don't we hold out until Friday morning at least. The Brisbane offer won't disappear. They might be forced to up their offer, or someone else might put in a bid after other trades get sorted. :)

Look, if Carlton were only paying lip service to everybody outside of the club, the club would have gone through the week, and said no deal would have been done. They would have gone to the media and said they tried there best, and then try and get on with rebuilding the bridges broken by Fevola.

And how do we know that Collingwood and/or Sydney have even put an offer on the table. All of us, incuding me, have been mentioning #14 and a player from Sydney to get Fevola. We have all been speculating on players from Sydney, but let's face it, Sydney have made it clear that they are not chasing Fevola. It's all been media speculation.

And how do we know that a draft selection in this years draft will be any better than Bradshaw/Rischitelli?

What Bradshaw brings is a target up forward, even if it is only for a year. What this does, allows Waite to properly recover from his knee, Kreuzer gets another 12 months into him, and without Fev's contract in our salary cap, we might be able to make a play for another high profile player in 12 months time.

As I have said earlier, we we're never going to get true market value for Fevola because of the size of his contract, and he has been severley tainted by his "antics" at the Brownlow.

Two things parrot...

1. Selection #14 was always going to be used to get Jolly from Sydney, which has now happened.

2. If that trade had not gone through, how can you be sure that Collingwood would have been prepared to use that to get Fevola?

As I keep repeating, all we have had in relation to Collingwood & Sydney is media speculation. We actually have an offer from Brisbane for Fevola.

All Im asking is for the club to wait till late Friday and see if any other offers are forthcoming.

Such as pick 14 + player from Sydney.

yeah exactly.im very surprised we ended up getting an offer the way things sounded. As much as its great to get an offer from the lions id wait a bit though till thurs 4pm, or early friday morning incase any last minute offer comes from the swans, which is unlikely but shouldnt hurt waiting

Good result !

We completed the trade.

The althernative to this was wait for Collingwood and Syndey...which would have maybe meant a Friday 2 pm offer take it or leave it.

Everyone has till tomorrow morning.

The trade will go ahead as is as things stand.

We get a forward and another hard working midfielder which means now we have the midfield strength and rotation s good as anyones.

and the Fev virus is gone.. which means alot of relieved players and officials.
