These are my selections on the basis of how many votes for best and fairest they may have amassed for the year.

54 Nick Jamieson
182 cms, 25 yo. Has been our best player for the year and may take out the B&F for Footscray. Has not played well in the last couple of matches. Should get a role in the centre. Averages over 6 tackles per match. Has a 68% disposal efficiency that isn't too bad for a midfielder.

19 Lucas Webb
187cm 21yo. His form has dropped a bit lately too. Hasn't shown the form in the AFL that he displays in the VFL. One of our best at kicking the ball inside 50.

56 Will Hayes
181cm 22 yo. A much improved player this year. Probably too old to be drafted. A useful midfielder.

22 Mitch Honeychurch
176cm 22yo. Averages almost 2 goals per match. Slow improver.

44 Timothy English
205cms 20yo. Can take a good mark and is good on the ground. Currently recovering from injury. Will be our number one ruck if selected.

32 Kieran Collins
19yo 194cm. Dad. Improving all of the time. Good at full back. Is second only to Fletcher Roberts in the amount of contested marks taken this year in the VFL for Footscray. The only Footscray player to play all 18 matches this year.

5 Matthew Boyd
The Old Champ. Will he stick around and try to win a VFL premiership for us. He only played 6 VFL games but they were all good ones, that is why with so few games played, he is so high in this list.

28 Josh Prudden
182cm 22yo. Improving steadily after having so many long-term injuries. Gets hit a bit. Usually plays midfield or defence. Has a high disposal efficiency of 76%, that is as good as it gets for his type of player.

53 Billy Gowers
188cm 21yo. A downsized incredible hulk of a man who has all of the agilities of a good footballer. A midfielder and handy goal-kicker.

34 Bailey Williams
Played 7 AFL matches and less than 12 AFL matches and should be an automatic selection.

15 Tom Campbell
Our regular ruckman. First quarter specialist.

61 Liam Nash
187cm 21yo. Big bodied, long haired young fellow who plays midfield but you often think that he has the talents to do more.

65 Jordan Russell
187cm 30yo. Captain and best player from years ago. Lost a little bit of form but is still the best general in defence. 100 afl and VFL games. Averages 4 rebound 50's per game.

14 Clay Smith
With 7 VFL matches he should be an automatic inclusion.

18 Fletcher Roberts
196cm 24yo. Most contested marks. Long and accurate kick. Plays in defence but can play in attack. Tends to give off the easy disposal rather than attack from defence.

27 Patrick Lipinski
187cm 19yo. A slow start to the year with some highlights but a very good finish with a BOG and an AFL game. Sure to be selected.

33 Lewis Young
197 cm 18yo. Plays KP defence. He became very good at about mid season and was selected at AFL level and has not looked back.

58 Matthew Goodyear
185cm 21yo. From Collingwood. Midfielder.

26 Declan Hamilton
18cm 21yo. Played all but one VFL match when he was emergency for AFL. He shouldn't be here next year. I would not select him.

51 Lauchlan Dalgleish
185cm 24yo. Speedy midfelder.

70 Tate Short
I don't have any stats on him. A young player from the TAC Cup last year and the Easter Ranges. He might get drafted. Shows good form.

30 Fergus Greene
187cm 19yo. Has played good in patches. On the injury list ATM.

40 Nathan Mullenger-McHugh
196cm 20yo. Plays KP forward and ruck. Still developing, slowly improving.

60 Andrew Tashevski - Beckwith
185cm 20yo. Useful young player.

66 Anthony Bruhn
186cm 27yo. Very clever player who kicked 6 goals in a match once. Has that 'X' factor about him.

75 J Smith
No stats. Rohan's boy. Only played a few games and no real stats to blow about, but I like the look of him. Fast, clever and along kick. Nice build.

74 N.DeSteiger
No Stats. Tall Ruckman who can take a grab. His first game for us was spectacular with a BOG, since then, not as good.

63 Nicholas Ryan
182 20yo. Good off half-back.

36 Brad Lynch
Is very slowly improving. Look how far down this list he is for the number of games he has played. I wouldn't select him.

45 Tristan Tweedie
190 cm 19yo. I don't think that he has improvement in him.

55 Alex Greenwood
178 cm 23 yo. Former player who is given a gig each year. Nippy rover who can put in a good game.

57 Jordan Staley
196cm 24yo. Fill-in KP and ruck.

64 Jayden Foster
195cm 22yo. Forward. Son of Peter. Kicked a goal a game.

Others
68 Anthony Barry - defender, 9 games
69 Benjamin Dance - 1 game
71 Andrew Panayi - small midfielder, 6 games

North Poo Oval? I don't know why they keep rating that oval and fixturing most finals games there, the ground is a quagmire at the best of times. Sick of it.

Russell. Collins. M.Boyd
Williams Roberts. Young

Campbell. N.Jamieson. Lynch
Hayes. Webb. Honeychurch

Lipinski T.Boyd. C.Smith
Greenwood. NMM Bruhn

I/C FROM. Gowers. Dalgleish Hamilton. Goodyear. Nash. Prudden. Short. Tweedie
23: J.Smith

In the heat of a VFL final, I'd go the harder bodies of regular stalwarts like Jamo, Gowers, Russell, ahead of some of our kids. If not listed, I'm not sure Hamilton & Tweedie get near a VFL best 22.
Greene & English not included due to injury

Essendon in a final again.
It's part of the VFL contract. Essendon and Footscray must play each other in a Final every year.

Good luck fellas, two very strong teams that could well challenge in week 2 of finals, unsure beyond that. You have one of two defences that I can see locking down on our forward line, wish we didn't have to meet you in all honesty

That is a strong line up. Whether they are motivated enough to win is a different matter.
Plenty of AFL and VFL premiership players in the team.

A strong line-up.

Strange that there is no Jamieson, who has been our best player for the year, although down on form a bit in the last few matches. Maybe he is injured as he took a few knocks in the last match.

Nathan Mullenger-McHugh is not there, why is that? Dropped?

Fergus Greene back in from injury.

No Tim English, must be still injured.

The 'Followers' above list T Tweedie and D Hamilton. That will not happen. I was hoping neither of those would get a game. I would much prefer Tate Short or Rohan Smith's boy.

Great to see M Boyd play.

I see that T Boyd is playing. I didn't think that he was eligible and the 'No senior games since 1 July' rule that otherwise lets a player become eligible even though they had not played 6 games did not apply. (I must have been wrong). Great that he is playing.

Hope that they select A Bruhn.

Is that N De Steiger guy a development player? He only came into the side very late. I don't understand the rules regarding development players and I can't find any information about them on our website.

He was a rookie class player, so got promoted due to a Footscray player (Wallis and Olssen) got hurt

N DeSteiger - a rookie class, for the VFL, learn something new everyday, as they say. I like the look of him. I wonder how old he is and what a full preseason would do for him.

As said by SCRAY72 above - a lot is going to depend upon their motivation.

Should be a good game. Plenty of AFL standard players in both teams. The likes of Luenberger, Howlett, Stanton, Hocking, Bird etc. make them a very strong side.

Mitch Honeychurch does ! He only recently got out of
hospital for a face infection of sorts could be still
getting over the effects.

Hasn't he played the last two VFL games ?
