Sad to see the last episode of Jack Irish tonight on the ABC...bit like the end of Fitzroy.
The sadder thing is I watched Graeme McKenzie and Graeme Campbell play as a small boy. So the final scene was particularly poignant.

Maybe we all end up in the nursing home with a few scarves and memorabilia Lazza. It wouldn't be the end of the world.

A couple of callers to SEN today suggested Eddie for the job!

Can you just imagine?....everything he planned would be to Collingwoods advantage..
Even the AFL could not be that stupid (I hope).

Hey Lazza. One thing I've been wondering. You're not the actual Lazza are you ?
No I am not...my two fav players as a kid were Gary Lazza n Daryl Peoples thus the 16. Have spoken to Gary's wife Sue if I recall correctly and they are sunning themselves in Qld these days

I think Carro is talking about the 25th anniversary of the merge on ch9 footy show tonight. I will give it a miss.

Lazza was a legend. Suffered from polio as a kid which explained his crab like running gate, and not very quickly I might add. But gave us some hope in those days. Daryl Peoples had a ranging left foot IIRC but a relatively short career ,might have returned to the country.

Funnily enough I was really happy supporting my team through those dark days when we hardly ever won a game. It was fun and taught you a bit about resilience.

Not like now when people go off their nut when you lose a game and demand changes to the team. As a kid I loved my crappy players who just did their best every week.

I heard Tom Harleys name mentioned as one who could possibly get the job, Brendan Gale another one....either would be very good imo. A couple of other mentioned as well but not Eddie thank god.

A lot of people have Gale pegged as the next AFL CEO, so it will be interesting to see if/when he moves over from clubland

Peoples probably best known for headbutting Big Carl's fist resulting in Carl missing Saints 1 n only premiership in 1966.
