A friend of mine who shall remain nameless played his first year as a midfielder when Carl was Captain Coach of Melbourne.

He said he learnt more about footy in the first 5 minutes that he ran around next to Carl than he'd learnt in his whole career up to that point.

It was a different game then but in a different way the laws of the jungle still apply. The most physically dominant and intimidating team usually wins.

Was in the HUN but probably on real estate site as well.......hoping this means he plans to stay in Brissy!

Shame the boys didn't give a crap about stepping up for the Skip on his special night.

I feel gutted for Skip that the boys treated this game with such contempt thinking they could just turn up and turn it on. Dont work that way boys and as much as the Skip tried his guts out, shame his VC Harris didn't give a crap (some of his efforts on King were disgraceful like he didn't care b/c I'm Harris; you got exposed son) and many others. Id be pissed if I wore Zorks today.

Haha think that's pretty off the mark. The players have voted for Zorks as their Captain multiple times - they absolutely do give a crap. I'm sure they were deflated at the end of a bloody tough run not to be playing the game at the Gabba and celebrating Zorks game in front of 30k fans. That stuff makes a difference to performance. Can't always be up even though rabid fans with no idea think they should.

I think the biggest thing is going to be that it's a very easy way of establishing a routine. Whatever you do, putting your mouthguard in your socks, retying your shoelaces, tossing some grass into the air - to get yourself not in the frantic headspace of a game of football but the calm collected headspace of the ten thousand times you've done this successfully in training.
