According to Jon Ralph yesterday he stated CATEGORICALLY that Buddy is going to GWS. He would know more than us I guess. What we want and what we get are two very different things! He will break some hearts when he goes..:(

Hutchy said " its jon ralph, say no more" kind of thing

Hutch knows pickers.

Pickers os trying o get the best deal for buddy so can hardly be saying hell stay of course no worries but hid last comment was " did buddy look like an unhappy player who is leaving on friday night"

I suspect GWS is struggling on the basis the AFL side deal can't be dealt with until such time Buddy has signed with GWS and that Buddy does not want to sign anything that doesn't stich up the AFL deal.
Buddy can't sign anything in season with another club. It doesn't mean GWS can't present him with some figures/terms etc.

I'm not going to deny this......I have a lot of love for Adams, an aggressive contested ball winning mid with pace. Even if keep Franklin we should be going full throttle to gain him.

I would go as far as giving up our first round pick and Suckling for him....that's how highly I rate him.[/quote]
If we give up one more first round pick I'll throw up.....and Suckling on top...My god man.....have you gone mad!!
How bout we just use our first pick on an Adams type in the draft and give him the 2 years experience Adams has had for when we need him in 2015....sound good? Perhaps Suckling could be the one who sets him up off half back :)

How much are Cameron and Patton on? Wouldn't the numbers being thrown at Buddy make their mouths water for when they next negotiate? Could open a few doors for other clubs in the future.

Isn't it fair to argue Cameron is already the best forward in the comp? Contending for Coleman in a side that loses every game and has a percentage of about 50. Still comes out and kicks goals every week. If I were him I'd not be waiting on Buddy developments to put my hand up for a fat long-term deal!

Id also happily do this too

Adams is a first round pick himself, with 2 years development in him, and a player who has proven to be able to make it
Our first round pick just might end up being another Dowler or Thorp, and not make it
We won't get Adams for just a first rounder, so we need to provide GWS with a 8/10 year player
Suckling fits the bill, and we've shown we won't wither and die without him
Win/win for me

I thought that this was interesting comment in that article ...

"It is believed it would take a top-12 draft pick or an established big man as a minimum to satisfy the Giants in a trade for Adams."

I would happily part with Bailey for Adams. I think he falls into the category of an "established big man" and frankly I'm not entirely convinced he adds that much to our list when we have ample ruck stock waiting in the wings. Could be a win-win-win.

Sounds logic to me, but what's his contract status?

Nah that's stupid.

We've missed him this year

No it isn't......we may have missed some of his kicking what we haven missed is him being a liability one out.
Duryea is also coming along nicely.....Eitherway Adams will be 10 year contested mongrel ball magnet for our football club.....I want that.
I would do Suckling and our first round pick if that's what it takes.

We've covered him quite well I reckon
Dureya and Mitchell across half back
We really need a 10 year midfielder, and if losing Suckers is what has to happen, then he is someone we have already shown we can cover

Surely no more room for Suckling in the back line now with Lake, Gibson, Schoenmakers, Birchall, Duryea, Guerra?, Mitchell, Stratton, Hodge and Burgoyne all in the back line or rotating through there. Not to mention all the other guys sitting in the wings at Boxhill and soon to be international rookies.

Unless there can be room found to play him at half forward kicking bullets into our other forwards and kicking goals himself from outside 50 then I'm not sure where else he can play. He's one of those ones who is sometimes referred to as "quick" but frankly I don't see it. If he truly is and can take a contested mark then maybe there can be room found on the wing.

dipper86 is right, If we want to get someone like Adams we will have to give up something decent. GWS need to cut their list and they're not going to want to take on half a dozen of our players who might end up de-listed in the next year or two anyway. If it's to happen it will likely have to be Suckling or someone he is taking the position of further up the field.

It's a tough decision and one I'm glad I don't have to make!

Like many others here I love watching Suckers kick, but he is a one-trick pony atm. Hopefully he can continue to develop his defensive side and push his way back into the team when he recovers, but for now Doc is a better asset to the team.

I dunno, we tend to undervalue those who aren't playing.

Our entire first choice hlaf back line (by my estimation) is currently out in Shoey, Birch and Suckling.

That line is versatile, got a great mix of dash, carry and versatility. And above all, all have penetrating kicks.

The drive that this line offers, along with defensive options, is huge.

Sure, we've built more felxibility into the side in their absence, and blooded others, but don't underestimate the quality and overall lift they would bring to our side.

Which makes Clarko and Co's coaching/strategy and implementation all the more impressive this year.

Not many sides could cover the extended absence of most of their first choice half back line and prosper. Especially when, to a certain extent, their individual skills and collective impact as a unit is all about complementing the mids we currently have.

But then again, I'm still searching, searching for Beta videos to rent.

Hodge Birch Goo Duryea Gibson Lake Shoey Stratton Burgoyne Suckling (Kelly Litherland Spangher)

10 does not fit into 6 though........its a massive headache.

I agree with the majority of what you said, its the bold which bothers me most about suckling.....first and foremost as a defender your ability to play/nullify your opponent in a contested situation in my eyes is a pre- requisite. I have major concerns on suckling in this area which again was exposed on Grand Final day.

If I was an opposition coach, I would be directing my team to play through Sucklings man.

If it was a choice out of acquiring Adams at the expense of letting Suckling go.....I'd be letting Suckling go.

Back on the Buddy subject for a sec.........
I see Ross Lyon on 6pr tonight said Freo will chase Jesse White from Sydney
He is a restricted free agent at the end of the year
First Taylor, then Reiwoldt, now White, but not interested in Buddy?
C'mon Roscoe, tell the truth!
