I think the only genuine decrease in midfield depth is Dow.
Ed was past it this year.
LOB played a total of 6 games, 3 or 4 as sub, and by round 1 next year will have been well and truely over-taken by Binns.
Fisher is over-taken by Williams. Philp has given us nothing as a Senior Player.

The thing is, the system means that you can't hold players like Dow. It's the way that salary cap and restricted list numbers and opportunity work. Hopefully Carroll and Binns and both Hollands can cover whatever we miss with Dow.
I would prefer that we could keep him, but I'm also not really concerned.

Ed may have been past it this year but as part of the midfield depth table, he was ranked higher than Dow initially. As for fisher, comes down to perspective - we consider cuningham and Fogarty as part of our midfield rotations but fisher has demonstrated more through the midfield historically. Philip - agree did nothing and probably needed to be taken off the main list - he would however in the right age profile to potentially contribute (cf most 1st year draftees)

Agree with you on LOB - particularly given the twins next yeah I think we will be fine in the medium term.

Anyway decisions have been made and the list changes are what they are - hopefully we add at least 2 22+ midfielders through the offseason. On the plus side, Austin's interview today gave some hope that we wont just give players away for nothing (cf previous years)

Ginivan is definitely on the outer at Collingwood- his “Night at the Races” didn’t impress anyone.
Ned Kelly backed him in (morning of the GF but maybe to avoid any controversy), be free & enjoy yourselves.

We were linked to Harmes a few weeks ago but I haven’t seen anything mentioned since, he is on the lookout for a new home and i think he would be a solid player for us but then i saw what he is reportedly owed by Melbourne, $500,000 next year.

Which raises the question. Will Melb need to pay someone to take him off their hands or will a club still cough up a 4th rounder?

Will there be a Bowes type deal this year?

Western Bulldogs keenest by reports. Not sure what will need to be given up.

And how many did he kick this year when the umps stopped rewarding him for ducking?

12 or something. Played less games, only 14 this year. Dont know whether he was suspended, injured or just not picked. About 6 of those 14 he was the activated sub. So he played far less that the previous season when he kicked 40.

And I'd still happily have him join us.

The goals and his form dried up when the umps stopped rewarding his ducking.

I'm not a huge Ginnivan fan, but if he wanted out, he would add a fair bit to our forward mix.
Im trying not to be bias here but I genuinely don't even think he'd get a game for us barring injuries. I'd take Martin, Durdin, Motlop. Fogarty, Cuningham and Owies would be 50/50 before him. He's got no points of difference as a player at all.

"I picked a few winners," Ginnivan said. Supposedly was at track, with Pies "blessing" 🤷

“I’m not a basic footballer like everyone else, I’m allowed to live a life. I was home by 10pm and was on the waters. Everyone can make of it what they want, but I’m a f***ing premiership player,” Ginnivan told foxfooty.com.au in the rooms post-game.
IMO, another humble FIGJAM braggart....

He's got a point.:D

No trade request from Hollands as of yet so think it's far from a done deal. Especially when you consider the new coach normally tries to get those types of players to stick around

IMO, Ginnivan has got talent....got found out when the umpires were onto him drawing free kicks, but I reckon he's got the footy nous to overcome that.

The main issue with him is that he doesn't pass the 'no dickhead policy'. There's a difference to a player being a bit of a bad boy and a complete ****wit, but unfortunately he fits into the latter right now. He's still only 20yo so has a lot of growing up to do, but any club that takes him on takes on the whole package. Reminds me a bit of Aker, and we know how that turned out when he went to the Woofers.

If you got him for pick 72, you may take a chance, but you'd still need to free up a list spot to squeeze him in.

yes, let's only take choir boys....
Choral v footballing ability has nothing to do with being able to carry yourself with a modicum of common sense.
We make the flag next year. How many of the list would you be OK with going to the races the night before then performing like he did in the GF. Looks like it's going to cost him his list spot. Jayden Stephenson mark 2.

Whats everyone think of this
Fisher and pick 68 and 76
For norths pick 43 and 55
On trade 43 and Dow to St kilda for pick 33
Offer 16, 33 and future first for pick 10 and Hollands
Net lose Dow Fisher picks 68 76 and future 1st
Net Gain pick 10, 55 and Hollands
Maybe a future 2nd or 3rd rounder our way from gold coast

Then we swap 17 to 14 & 42 for Fisher
Then swap our Pick 42 for Saints 32 & Dow
Leaves us with 10, 14 & 32 in the draft
F2 for Hollands
Pick 67 for Sinn
Bloody hell I would be great List Manager :cool:

Our competitors are aggressive and astute once again in trade week continuously refreshing and upgrading playing group.
Austin just has a lackadaisical demeanor. Hope we do little more than year's trading.
Trade week has barely started, a bit premature to be disappointed.

You can't pick up every recruit on the move.

We have been very active for the last few years.

I think you need to chill...

Agree Ginnivan has plenty of talent, unfortunately still immature so prone to stupidity now and then. If he were to be mentored and guided will repay with some exciting footy, mid 3Rd to early 4 Rd pick one would consider the lad.

My two cents for what its worth -

Fisher is the one I'm slightly angered by, not for the fact that we are losing him but for the fact that hes contracted on reasonable coin and being offered 5 years on good coin yet only worth pick 43 to NM, which likely becomes 45 after Gresham and McKay compo, unsure how bids would affect a pick in that range given some around it would be chewed up matching first round bids.
I'm not saying he's worth 19 or anything that high, but I think something around the 25-30 mark is more than reasonable given the deal North are handing him. I think the trade value should be befitting of the contract $$ and length in front of him.
Main issue is North have nothing between 19 and 43 but I am sure something could be worked out.

Just let Dow go, we've done our best to kill his career to date, so just let him go and try to thrive elsewhere. Who cares if its SOS that's after him, let's just hope he goes well in the future.
Maybe we get 43 and 55 for Fisher or 43 and an F3 from North and we can send 43 with Dow for 33, I feel like that is our best chance of salvaging something from that deal. Or we either accept the Saints pick in the 50's or walk him to the PSD to try his luck, but just do the right thing by the kid in my opinion.

Whether we get Elijah Hollands or not i'm not particularly fussed. Wouldn't shock me to see him stay and see what it's like under Hardwick, but if he does decide to leave and nominates us I'd rather make it happen with picks this year than send off an F2, who knows how high the Campo's might rate come 12 months time.

Other than that, hit the draft. Hearing a lot of talk about trading up from our first rounder. How deep is the talent pool? From what I've read all be it not a heap, it seems to have a reasonably steep decline outside of the top 5 that aren't attached to an academy.
I just wonder if its actually worth giving up 17 and next years F1 to get up to pick 7 or 10 best case, which is going to be closer to 11 and 14 post bids anyway.

Cheers guys
