port will have to be insane to take graham... they need a ruck, but graham!? oh god no.. ill actually feel sorry for them if they take him. port need some gun mids before another ruck.

I wonder if what happened to Ivan coming to RFC could happen to Gus going to Port ?? Best case scenario for port tunksy. As has been suggested, sometimes a move can make all the difference to some players.

So with the trade and free agency periods right around the corner i think it's time i fill you in with my gossip, like always i all this stuff i put here doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Troy Chaplin & Chris Knights: Both looking very likely to sign, i think just about everyone in the AFL knows we're interested but i'm just confirming that things are looking very good, nothing official yet though of course.

Patrick Karnezis: Brisbane do rate him quite highly but he would be keen to come back home to Victoria, there's defiantly some interest there.

Matty Thomas: Still up in the air, theirs interest there but Thomas want's to wait and see who Port's coach will be and what there plans are before he decides his future.

Koby Stevens: There was interest there, we really liked his hard attacking nature and think would slot into our team and tactics but his kicking has really turned us off.

Kane Lucas: Once again there is some interest there, i'm not up to date with the Carlton rumors but i could only imagine he would rather go back home to W.A if he was to move.

Jordan Gysberts: On the outter at Melbourne, don't rule this one out!

And finally, the player i talked about us been interested in from a interstate club is Ben Jacobs from Port Adelaide, a really good young promising player with a beautiful left foot kick.
Everyone knows about Knights and Chaplin so you're telling us nothing new there. Karnezis has been floated on this board for a good 2 months so again, nothing new there. Thomas was mentioned by another poster long before you and unless your info comes straight from the horses mouth I'll stick with the poster whose info is. Koby Stevens again nothing that hasn't been spoken about on the various forums over the last couple of years, fact is we didn't rate him in his draft year so don't see why anything would have changed now. Lucas and Gysberts pretty easy to pick 2 names out of an opposition list, especially those that have had some rumours about being restless and say we're interested. Finally on Jacobs, again that was mentioned on this board a while ago so you're not telling some of us anything new again.

I will say one thing though I do enjoy reading your rumours as its fun watching you trying to pass off what most already know as some kind of inside info.

I was having a dig at Barrett because he deserves it

And I think our interest in Tyson has now been well documented. So it's hardly gossip

Where? BF and one paper article probably taken from the gossip here. We would be interested in a lot out of contract players, but the ongoing Tyson stuff here was so over the top it was ridiculous.

Spot on. I'll go one further on mr spurt and say we were never interested in Stevens. The blokes who were at the club and passed on him initially are still there with the same knocks.

Shehan, Denham, Ralph....
It is gossip you know.
But yes we are into Tyson, unlikely as a trade may be. Haven't heard from GWS that he's re-signed, either.
Move along

i know where you're coming from, I just don't believe gus has it in him. he had a huge chance to grab the no1 spot all for himself and he just couldn't do it. good luck to the bloke, i have nothing against him and hope he can succeed. hes still young for a ruck too.

And maric was already good before he came to richmond, he was just replaced with jacobs who is over rated IMO, ****en wanks love him!

Just done up a quick comparison for those questioning the heights of our defenders if Chaplin joins.

GEELONG 2011 PREMIERSHIP BACKLINE

Hunt (186) Scarlett (192) Lonergan (197)
Enright (186) Taylor (193) Mackie (192)
I: Wojcinski (180)

PROPOSED RICHMOND 2013 BACKLINE

Morris (185) Chaplin (195) Grimes (193)
Batchelor (188) Griffiths (200) Rance (194)
I: Houli (180)

Could easily add the grunt and ripper left boot of the former skipper, Newman. I'm salivating!

Article from AFL website:
Carr said the 26-year-old had "every right" to explore free agency, but that his actions around the club suggested he still wanted to play a role at the Power.

"This is the world that we live in now in AFL football that there is free agency, and players are able to move wherever they want when they've been in the system for a long time," he said.

"Chappy's got every right to explore all his options and also see where we're heading and if he wants to be a part of it.

"He's always around the club. He's here today, he's training and doing everything he can do to still be a part of it."

Make of that what you will.

Rumour on PRE that Rance is off to WA. Apparently Freo in a straight swap for Stephen Hill.

I don't think there is much credibility so I'd take it with a grain of salt, but just passing on the info.
I have that grain of salt here....just seen Rance in the Lowes catalogue, better stick to footy and give up the modeling.....

I think depending on the opposition we may see any one of Batch/Griffiths and Dea in the side.
Griffiths will stay in the back half again next year.

B: Grimes Chaplin Rance
HB: Houli Griffiths Morris
Int: Ellis

OR/ Man our backline is going to be elite very soon..

B: Grimes Chaplin Morris
HB: Houli Rance Batchelor
Int: Ellis

Int: Dea

Griffiths may at times be utilized as a swingman like Post was on a few occasions at the end of this year. But I can't see him permanently playing up-front when we seem keen to develop Astbury/Elton as that 3rd forward.

Would be my ideal backline, with Ellis playing further up the ground. Hopefully Griffiths builds his tank and can improve his offensive game, he only needs to push up to the wing to be able to kick it to the goal square.
