Freo fans: tonight hurts but at least be courteous to each other while venting.

Oppostion fans or anyone out to have a crack: don't post here. You will get banned and you will get points.

As was I... Glad we never see days like that again. I even stayed til the end cause my brother and dad were with me as Crows fans.

Honestly remove 2022 and since 2016 it’s been 8 years of some of the worst footy you’ll see. Nothing as statistically bad as 1.7 13, technically, but we kicked 2 goals vs the Eagles that one time, conceded 20 goals in a row in Geelong, been smashed regularly putting up 5 goals or less. At least we turned it around the very next year after 2009 and played great exciting footy in 2010.

Ever since 2016 it’s been dour, awful, losing football that bleeds one year into the next with only false dawns and no real sign of change.

The most frustrating thing for me continues to be our lack of goal scorers. Say what you want about West Coast, their midfielders kick goals.

Their forwards, kick goals.

Our midfielders can't kick goals, definitely not from 50 out. Our forwards spend too much time worrying about chasing and tackling. Other than Amiss who is a genuine goal kicker for us?

Looking forward to the draft this hear where we pick a KPD, a sub 185cm midfielder and some skinny flankers just to top it off.

Club needs to prioritise putting the ball between the big sticks.

Lack of firepower and our overall vanilla flavour are the big concerns for me as well , who gets more dangerous ? WC with Oscar Allen , Liam Ryan and Elijah Hewitt or us with Amiss , Switta and Freddy

Is West Coast one of the most bizarre cases in AFL history? They’ve had a decent team on paper for the last 3 years, even despite injuries, but played like the worst team of all time so everyone assumed they’re all cooked and absolutely stink.
3 weeks ago they played the Bulldogs and Adam Simpson, an AFL premiership coach pre match says they’d just like to win a quarter (they didn’t).

Fast forward 3 weeks and you go okay, makes sense that they can win games with names like Yeo and Kelly out of the middle, McGovern and Barrass mopping up, and Waterman and Cripps up front, ******* Darling has kicked 500 goals too.

And now due to inexplicably sucking so bad WAFL teams could’ve smashed them, they’ve stocked up on generational talent too.
Confidence plays a big part in that. They got a half quality Richmond team and quite rightly spanked them at home. Confidence grows on that, especially another home game for them.

I know people bag Beveridge but take a look at the stats this week for the 2 players he dropped, Bailey Dale and McCrae. Don’t want Bevo but we need a coach that can inspire like that

Is our midfield sort of poor. Other than young where's the upside?

They’re all accumulators. ALL of them. We don’t have a midfielder that can break a game open.
When was the last time Fyfe, Brayshaw or Serong hit someone on the tit?
They don’t even burst out of stoppages like elite midfielders. They’re very quick with hands and linking up BUT that’s what makes their high possessions deceptive. 3 or 4 quick flick arounds and then a butchered kick. May as well just do a Yeo who bursts out of stoppages and hacks a kick forward.

They are very good defensively, but at times last night Eagles just walked through the front door.

It was similar against North.

The Eagles had nothing to lose coming into this game, and once they realised that we are utterly incapable of scoring, they played with flair and freedom.

These two words have been coached out of us in favour of "contest" and "system". We are a horrible team to watch and I'm just thankful I'm not in WA to listen the the (justified) shit we will cop from all and sundry.

Had this conversation last week. We also had North in the question (Larkey/Zurhaar/Curtis/Duursar/Ford/Stephens)

If West Coast or North offered you a straight swap of forward lines right now would you take it?

Close call. Allen probably tips it into the 'yes' with West Coast but I'd take ours (fully fit) over North. We don't have anyone as good as Larkey, but we might in 3-4 years. I also don't rate Stephens as high as our worst forward.

Well done to WC really who turned up looking like they wanted to play.
Same cant be said for our guys.
Was a horror show from half way thru the first were couldnt buy a goal, yet let them score relatively freely.
Horrible effort and they should honestly be quite ashamed.
"smoked around the contest" apparently....I thought we did okay at the contest and it was more a lack of skill after we won the ball. Having a midfield where only one of them is a decent kick is a huge issue.

Here is a quote from the post match pressers. Let's play a little game:

"He's playing with that spirit and freedom that I think we all appreciate and enjoy."

Q1:
Which coach said that?
A. Longmuir.
B. Simpson.

Q2:
Which player was he referring to?
A. Pick any Fremantle player.
B. The youngest, least experienced player on the field.

We all know the answers. And somehow this vibe seems to sum up the difference between the two clubs over the decades.
Onwards and upwards!

The day we announced a successor i want to hear attacking, goals and good to watch in the man or Woman’s first press conference.

And people cry for Brodie who is the same but worse

Was out so didnt watch, saw the score at some point and just laughed out loud, first thing that came to mind was that triangle of hope and misery meme. This result means finals chances probably cooked.

I feel like our on field performance is negatively correlated to the amount of articles praising our players during the week, we have a habit of drinking our own bathwater.

Best defense in the comp lets a bottom 4 team kick bags and Waterman turns into a Coleman medalist. Classic!

Did something happen to Amiss?

Brodie kicked a goal from 53m after bursting out of stoppage and don’t arguing some fool in the WAFL. It exists in his game. It would be much harder to execute in the afl, we saw peak Brodie in 2022 and it was happening from time to time.

I was shocked that Serong didn’t make the distance from 45m on a set shot. Blew me away. I thought he was better than that.

Eagles have a plethora of players who can kick 50m plus. Why don’t we?

We wouldn't be the first side to put in a flat performance after one of these extended stints away. Hopefully we're not requesting those again.

Oh yes... and well done to the WC for indoctrinating yet another convert to the Gimme-a-Free-Ump fraternity. Let alone one who was such an amazing contested ball beast in his pre draft years. 🦆

You were shocked? Serong has barely kicked a goal that he didn’t pull out of his arse since he got here.

Chad Warner is a necessity imo.

Annoyed me because he essentially waved someone off who was wide open in the pocket. May have been Sturt.

Went back full of confidence and kicked it like an U16 player.

Hopeless.

How any AFL player can’t score from inside 50m always staggers me.

If we were bottom 4, you could see games given to Simpson, Delean, Stanley.
Which is fair enough, but we are a work in progress and you’d like to see these
kids blooded, at least played as the sub.
Fast track the next gen, and played before all the flair is drained from them.
You can even look further and wonder why Knobel isn’t playing regularly with
Peels senior team?
Jack Williams was a pick in the 3rd round, a 20 year old forward/ruck.
Knobel has the talent, but he will be a slow burn at Freo, until he seeks more
Opportunity.

We’ve played enough good footy and the midfield good enough for last night to be a scheduled off night for the backline and midfield. I’m not ignoring the first 5 weeks of footy because we put in one stinker. The midfield beat two top 4 midfields the last two games - away.

But the gigantic glaring problem is that we can’t make finals while the forward line is this bad. Switta needs to be our 6th/7th best forward, not 3rd/4th
