You are correct. I missed the Southport Sharks players who made the Final Cut for the gather round game.

I find that very strange. Particularly, as mentioned above, a South Australian, playing in Queensland representing Victoria.

Its the VFL though they are representing. Not Victoria. It is not State of Origin.

Did she say next year or at all?

Please make it not at all or at least not until after 2028 and the crows members own their board and will negotiate from their own club's interests and not the AFL's
Actually I assumed next year.

I just re-listened and she actually just said "not going to be able to enter"

Hard to tell if she meant next year or for good.

The major reason behind Port and the tingles wanting out of the sanfl is to play in a comp with a level playing field re top up players so their draftees can be developed in a system that gives all teams a chance of winning games, and whether that comp is weaker or stronger over all isn't the number one concern.

The current system where the sanfl clubs can field a team of mature aged hard bodies against the two AFL teams magoos, who have 4 or 5 usually fringe older players or completely under done players returning from injury, and numerous undersized 1st and 2nd year draftees backed up by 6 or 8 top ups who should be kicking the dew off the grass in a div 3 or 4 hills comp isn't of much, if any value to the development of those 18 and 19 yo draftees.

Another option to give the two local AFL teams reserves more chance of being competitive is to allow them to pay the same sort of money ($12-1500 per game) as the sanfl clubs so they have an even chance of attracting better top up players, as under the current rules even if they do unearth a diamond in the rough they often get a much better offer from the likes of glenelg, nord or sturt, and can be gone after only one season, and I suspect that may be what the club is trying to do given a national reserve's comp is still a pipe dream.

The Weagles have decided against trying to join the VFL. Either the WAFC have made concessions to satisfy them, or it may be that they (and Freo) have been told that they would have to pay their own costs for travel/accommodation of their reserves team, which is apparently what the SA teams have been told.

I couldn't get around the paywall for this article:

AFL should be forming a partnership with an airline to get all this stuff covered.

The AFL asking the SA and WA teams to fully fund the travel for both home and away games if they want to join the VFL is ridiculous.

This shows that they don't care about these heartland states at all.

They had no intention if helping make it work next year (or the year after it would seem).

Do the Queensland and NSW teams have to fund their own travel?

Knew it was all talk.

- Port and Crows will be given more flexibility to add quality top-up players to their SANFL side next year in line with the Victorian’ clubs allowances in the VFL. The two South Australian clubs have argued the restrictions on their top-ups are an impediment to their players’ development prospects and leave them with weaker sides.

- There is a strong view Victorian sides have an advantage over their South Australian and Western Australian rivals due to the superior strength of the VFL as a state league.

- Additionally, the two SA clubs are also expected to make strong requests around their SANFL fixtures for next year which will help them get more game time into their AFL-listed emergencies. The two clubs are frustrated by clashes with their AFL and SANFL fixtures which sometimes prevent their AFL emergency players from playing at either level or on reduced game time. It is expected the two clubs will be heard on their fixture requests for next year otherwise Port Adelaide and Adelaide will reconsider their position on the issue.

- Both clubs have a contract to play in the SANFL next season but there was pressure on the AFL to either find a resolution to their problems or add them to the VFL 2025.
