Think it's hard to tell until he plays some footy this year. Was up playing in the Gold Coast prior to this season, so this is his first year in a more hotly contested competition.
Any one any idea where Boston is playing this year? Thought that they headed to Vic, but can’t see him on any player lists. Peckett is listed with Dandenong, but didn’t appear to play in the weekend.

Some St Kilda NGAs are playing at Sandringham Dragons. Herald-Sun write up.
  1. Joshua Docking (Hampton Rovers, VAFA). Member of St Kilda’s NGA program. Has trained a lot as a wingman but can play half forward as well. Has excellent agility to step out of congestion and uses his hands well around the contest.
  2. Adrian Cole (St Bedes Mentone). [St Kilda site has had him on the NGA books] Athletic key defender who has made great progress in recent months. Has potential to play in a variety of positions as he learns the game.
  3. Williams Nish (Beaumaris FC VAFA). Strongly built inside mid and half back who is a member of St Kilda’s NGA. Has shown a good ability to win clearances and take the ball forward from contests through pre-season.
  4. Lennox Hofmann (Old Brighton Grammarians VAFA). Member of St Kilda’s NGA program, unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury in training in December and will miss most of the season. Exciting prospect for the future.
Also past St Kilda NGAs Leon Alao and Sam Latreille at Sandringham VFL, Alec McComb at Frankston VFL, and Scott Beilby at Glenelg SANFL.

I don’t really get the point of the NGA anymore since they keep moving the goal posts last couple of years, you develop players to get nabbed by other clubs
What we need to do is identify the talent at 16 years of age, then tell them to play another sport for a couple of years. Then they should slip through the first 40 picks.

Yep. Looks like our funding of NGA is producing the third most talent for the league. What's the point of this if they're any good and the other clubs snap them up? Been asking this for a while, still no explanation.

Aaaah… the “Geelong model”.

The point was to capture talant that might otherwise not make it into the system. So it's reverted back to what it was designed for and not the abomination of the previous years. Good on the AFL for fixing it.

northern academies still good tho hey

The northern academies are bullshit. Sydney never have to rebuild and the Gold Coast might get three first rounders this year. Potentially two in the top ten.

Disagree. The NT and everything South of the Murrumbidgee should not be involved at all, but that's a problem in implementation, not in design.

There are 15 NRL Teams, 6 A-League teams, 3 Super Rugby teams and two state cricket associations in Queensland, the ACT & NSW competing with the AFL sides for the kids who become the type of elite level individuals that play professional sport, and the AFL is the only group of those that, without these academies, says "yeah, your local/junior side who's watched you since under 13s and spent time and money helping to develop you really really wants to keep you, but because they did too well last year, or because you're one of 3 amazing talents, we have to let you **** off to Adelaide, see you later."

If you want PARENTS to be making the decision that their kids get to be part of these academies, and increase the overall talent available to the league, it's a necessary evil.

They should've kept from pick 20rather than 40. It gives incentives to the clubs but the star will be in the first 20.
If a club is fortunate enough to have a gun NGA player then good luck to them..they still have to provide enough points to match a bid.
AFL should have left it alone…even more galling is the restrictions don’t apply to northern clubs!
