There's always this type through every clubs rebuild. The more the rest of our list matures the worst Ben Keays will look.
When we just wanted to go out there and get games into the youngsters and not lose by 15 goals he was great.
Should be sub each week.
Looks an ok impact player.
Having him as sub allows a kid a full game either AFL or SANFL.

Nicks did say we prefer to show our action on the fieldRather annoying that they trashed talked us, then we meekly let them thrash us
He’s fit it for the last 12 games except for the Carlton game in which he was unbelievably good.Yeah this. He was terrible. He fit bearded clams description tonight.
Compare that to Collingwood with Langdon, buried him into the turf in the first minute. We basically rolled out the red carpet for Wines. Weirdly listless performance.Rather annoying that they trashed talked us, then we meekly let them thrash us
It does give the club a wake up call, too much backslapping after beating 3 shit teamsLosing Friday night is bad when you have the rest of the weekend to go.
Getting hammered in the last round of the year in a showdown is next level.
Hinckley has has moderate success, probably not enough to suit he PA fans. Nicks doesn't look like he has a clue. Both Nick's and Hinkley aren't good coaches. Both gone next year.
Neither but I think ROB has put more concentration and preparation of late into his kicking for goal.Who would you rather kick a goal to save your life Keays or ROB? It’s a tough decision. They need to take lessons on how to kick a football.
Keays that night did what Josh Jenkins did nearly every game back in 2016/17..The game where Keays kicked 4 was off the back of this, was almost a flashback to our ball movement from 2015-2017 where we outran the players. Glad to see we quickly put a stop to that for the most part since.
You missed Fog’s first half.. brilliant!.Had some people around so I didn't see the game. Doesn't sound like I missed anything good.
ExactlyNo the reality is that our ‘team defensive’ stuff is so bad that we allow so many inside 50’s. It’s the whole team outside the D50 that lacks the frenetic pressure that makes teams cough the ball up. We have huge pressure around the stoppages and centre clearances, but once it gets out of there we’re slow as fu(k
We’re never going to win a game consistently conceding 60+ inside 50’s
But once it goes inside 50 we have two absolutely plonker KPD’s who don’t know what to do with themselves if the ball goes to ground (or out the back) once they attempted their singular objective to spoil the ball like some defender transported from the 70’s
Both our KPD’s in Butts and Murray are not, I repeat they are NOT, modern KPD’s in that they have other weapons to their game other than mind-numbing spoiling…
We can manage one of those, because there will always be a straight-up modern KPF to defend, but we can’t keep two on our books.
Meanwhile we have a 201cm defender racking up 32 possessions in the SANFL???
Bizarre.
And he actually kicks them. I don't care what they look like, as long as they are worth 6 points.Neither but I think ROB has put more concentration and preparation of late into his kicking for goal.
And once again.. ben keays gets a free pass.. because, you know, effort…These players should never be best 22 ever again and we should avoid selecting them at all costs.
Ned McHenry - one of the worst first round picks in our history. Simply does not have any attributes of a first round selection and if he wasn't he'd be struggling to get a game at any club in the AFL. I can maybe forgive first rounders that had top end attributes that failed, but Ned isn't that, he just has no AFL level qualities. Terrible player and disgusting he is contracted for 2 more years.
Lachlan Murphy - a well below average midfielder playing forward who occasionally plays well against historically bad AFL sides but fails spectacularly on the regular against any side that's even remotely reasonable. His stints in the midfield are only passable because no other team in the AFL pays any attention to him and why would they, he sucks.
James Rowe - immune to kicking goals at AFL level and literally offers nothing else. Like Murphy he occasionally gets touches in the midfield because no other team would ever consider putting time in to stop him. A small forward that doesn't kick goals and doesn't pressure is useless at AFL level and should never be selected ever again, the easiest delist you'll ever see
Chayce Jones - has had four years in the system and appears to struggle to understand what AFL looks like. A hard player who does one or two strong defensive actions a game but offers zero in any other facet. When he's on the field he looks surprised he is there, and he should be, because he's not good enough and a huge draft fail.
Wayne Milera - a lazy footballer with no position to hide on the field. As a forward he offers effectively zero and as a defender he is never accountable and doesn't apply pressure. Once or twice a match he shows the skill level an AFL footballer should have which is often confused with him having elite skills, I guess because the average skill level of our squad is woeful. His contract is criminally long and we should salary dump him on North or Hawthorn.
Matt Crouch - he didn't play today but if he remains on the list (which he absolutely should not) then we mustn't be seduced by his training form, which everyone knows will be good as he's an experienced senior player in a very young squad. His type of play is no longer effective at AFL level and selecting him ever again would actively harm the team and our developing players.
Players that need a rocket shoved far up their ass
Brodie Smith - abysmal year, basically career worst. Playing like a guy that knows he will never win a flag so is going through the motions with two years left on his contract, he does not give a *. Get ball, long kick to no one without thinking, repeat. Should be turfed and retired if he doesn't want to put in the effort to make AFL standard decisions.
Tom Doedee - lesson: don't play injured, because you're s**t at it. Deciding to push through with an injury for months while Worrell sits in the twos was a terrible decision and really disappointing from a supposed leader of the club
Harry Schoenberg - if you play like the majority of the year you won't make it and you won't have the money to (allegedly) party your ass off. Take the job seriously.
Reilly O'Brien - just because you have a long contract we never should have given you, doesn't mean you can dish up pathetic garbage for most of the year. It's ridiculous to request working on the basic fundamentals of the game like kicking and marking but here we are. Performing well once or twice a season is disgraceful for a senior player.
It was the result we needed. It does give the club a wake up call, too much backslapping after beating 3 s**t teams
And this is the very reason why pick 5 cannot be used on Rankine. We need to draft a ****ing quality mid.A lot of players drafted in the positions that many expect them to be drafted in end up being busts.
And that rightly costs recruiters their jobs, because it’s literally their job to not draft busts. Nobody cares if Fischer McAsey was widely tipped to go in the top 10-12 picks. It has now been established that he’s s**t and has no AFL future. Hamish’s job is to draft players who aren’t s**t and do have an AFL future. Here’s some of his first round handywork.
Milera
Gallucci
Jones
McHenry
And of course, McAsey
5 of the most disastrous first round picks in recent memory, considering what else was available. I feel too sick to list all of the potential all Australians we passed on in favour of this crud.
Pedlar would want to have a pretty damn good 2023 or he’ll be firmly on the first round bust pile too. I don’t care that he’s been injured a lot - that was a factor prior to him being drafted. Maybe don’t draft someone at pick 11 who could barely get on the park at age 17?
During this time period, we’ve also taken Fogarty, Doedee, Thilthorpe, Rachele and Cook in the first round.
Fogarty has been a slow burn, which can happen with key position players, but he’s now there. Tick.
Doedee is a pass mark as a late first rounder, but Jesus he was disappointing in the latter half of this year and his penchant for falling over is starting to get ridiculous. Also a 188cm defender with poor kicking skills is a bizarre choice for a first round pick. Half tick.
Too early to tell on the other 3 at this point, but Thilthorpe was the first pick of the entire open draft so you’d want to be able to find someone there!
First round picks should be the absolute cream of your squad. Of the last 11 first rounders we’ve drafted (all listed above), 7 aren’t in our best 18 when the whole squad is fit, including one who has already been delisted, and another who is not even in the best 15 players in our SANFL side. 4 of the 11 are just absolutely s**t footballers who have no chance of being consistent AFL performers.
Hamish’s (and friends) blatant lack of foresight and inability to identify major flaws in the games of more than half of these first round picks is a major factor in this.
We have only stayed out of priority pick territory because our second round picks are infinitely better than our first rounders throughout that same time period.
Final thought: of those last 11 first round picks, how many look like being full time AFL quality midfielders? The answer is absolutely zero. The first rounder we took before these 11 was Lever. Prior to that, we had draft sanctions. Prior to that, we’re talking Sam Kerridge and Brodie Smith (more failed midfielders).
I wonder how many other clubs have zero of their last 14 first round picks playing in the guts of their AFL side, and then wondering why things like the quality of delivery into the forward line are a consistent issue.
It’s a farce.
Yep.. it will be like clockwork.Sloane has said he’s freshened up beautifully and expects to play a key role next year and a couple more after that. Sloane will play every game he puts his hand up for, which will be every game. And as soon as he’s had a couple of ok games, we’ll be hearing about his lack of contract and interest from other clubs.
Good
I'm liking the way RT is jumping at the footy, he looks dangerous around the footy
He just needs to get some continuity into his game

Jenkins was also a leadup forward, chopped out in the ruck etc. Keays would have to be a pretty different player to be successful in the forward line.I hoped after that Carlton game that keays might be the new JJ joe the goose gut runner in the forward line we havent had since JJ left.. unfortunately it looks like it was a one off.

ROB’s action is just ludicrously bad but he’s been nailing his, albeit rare, shots on goal..Set shot, RoB every day.
My four year old has a better action. But he kicks straight.
