Dylan Roberton at 79? CS link?

To me it just makes no sense to use P79 unless they have something locked into that pick. It pushes the rookie squeeze back a year and in all likelihood we would have to use a much better pick than 79 to promote a rookie next year. Even if they didn't rate Walker that highly, they'd be better off putting him up this year on a one year deal, than taking a draftee on a two year deal. That way if he takes another step, he is already on the list and we don't have to clear the extra space at the end of next year, or if he has an average year, they don't have an obligation beyond 2013 either way.
Yes, it makes sense. Although you'd think they've got an eye on Sully, 79 is better - far better - than pick 15 in the rookie draft, which is what they'd be using if they upgraded Walker. Although it is the low end of the draft, there will still definitely be players hanging around that you'd want for two years.

The chances of a Menzel, or a Stringer sliding to pick 16 seem to be improving with the possibility that GWS might spend one of their pre-16 picks on Tippet.

Now if the Melbourne tanking explosion would just detonate in the next few days...;)

the 10 I think that will be gone are: Whitfield, Toumpas, Grundy, Wines, O'Rourke, Stringer, Mayes, Macrea and Daniher.

There are 3 sorts of people in this world, those that can count and those that can't.

Sorry, couldn't resist :D Your list of 10 (that only has 9) reminded me of that joke - it's one of my faves

Me too, I've got the T-Shirt.
A Teller down the Bank once looked at it for a few seconds, then said in all seriousness "What does it say on the back?"

I don't want that bloke with the name starting with V.
Look what happened with Grgic, Koulouriotis and Djerrkura.
You no sooner learn to pronounce their names and they're gone.

I'm still coming to terms with FredLeDeux!

Can P16 effect P79. ie would we take 2 mids? If we take KP player (like Clurey) with our first then I doubt we will be looking at "Jake" or "Sandra" or whatever his first names is. Id also query why we would grab a project , thin as a rake , mid. So perhaps then Simpkin or another recycle comes into play.

Of course if we pick a mid type with R16 , then perhaps we are more likely to look at tall options.

I believe that taking Caddy in the TP will also affect our decision here. No Caddy might've meant Vlastiun was selected. Now Menzel or a KPP might be on the cards instead.

Spot on, I'm in no doubt that Geelong sees Caddy as their first round draft pick. Pick 16 is the bonus and may allow them to take more of a punt on a guy like Menzel.

That said, I still like Vlastiun for our first selection. He screams Geelong to me.

Jason Gram has officially been sacked by St Kilda for off-field (IVO ) indiscretions, serious stuff apparently.
Wonder if teams will look to resurrect his career, less upside on-field than Lovett.
His 09 GF performance was impressive, but get the feeling Saints fans don't regard him as top 22 any more.

St Kilda are also claiming his problems are long-term.

1. Gram - has a large year left on his contract, nice way out
2. Saints - showing strong leadership
3. Saints - abiding by a no DH policy.

Wasn't sure to what part of my reply you meant NO GRAM.

WE have until Nov. 22 to fill the void of no footy. That means our attention gors to the ND draft - that is a long way away.

So I read with interest those posts of people who seem to watch and read about young talent.

I just want to see us a get a gun player with pick 16 in a strong first pick ND. From all I read pick 16 should get a good player - and if Wells can get who he wants - the it is likely we get a reall good prospect.

Looking at the players we have drafted or traded for or from FA - we have few obvious holes for 2013/4 seasons.

So I reckon they will tell Wells get the best talent. Most early picks seem to be potential gun mids so I expect at pick 16 - a few picks would have gone on some KP players/ruckmen and and say 10-12 mids have been taken.

So we take the say the seventh best tall or the 13 th best mid. Assuming all selectors see things similarly.

Maybe with Wells we will get the 4-5 th best tall or the 6-8 th best mid out there.

I personally am hoping for a mid with pace and nice kicking skills. So are a lot of other fans hoping the same for their club.

From what I read Simpson fits this description well - and he may fall to 16. Then again maybe Menzel will. Seems like Stringer will not be available by pick 16.

The big V..... mid, who has had written of him - 'He screams GFC' - might be there as well at pick 16.

It seems if we get anyone of these players, Simpson, Stringer, Menzel or the Big V......, we would have done well. I hope so - as surely anyone of these fit and playing well will add to our VFL defence of the flag.
