It could happen if Wells thinks that the selected key forward could be converted into a key back...
Ah, a man after my own heart.

After watching McCarthy at the Champs I (like many others) was converted. He flies for everything, hits packs (despite not having too much bulk) and has pretty sticky fingers.

But he is also mobile. When the ball was on the ground he was off chasing it.

I said to a couple of guys I thought he could be turned into an attacking CHB with some work.

People knock his kicking but, while the run-in and drop look a bit funny, it was still pretty effective (he kicked the winner for WA after the siren).

He played footy growing up but focussed on cricket for a few year then came back to footy (this year I think).

If he is around, I can certainly understand why Quayle would suggest we'd think about him. We have more pressing needs, sure, but he looked good to me and I think there might be a bit more development in him.

I'm not convinced about him.

Has been at that 80-82kg mark for two years, and hasn't really dominated. Looked handy at TAC level, but was pretty quiet throughout the championships. Lovely grab and kick though, I just question whether he has another level.
Yeah, I can see where your coming from.

Didn't get a stack on it, well certainly didn't in the couple of games I watched, but he always used the ball well and appears to have some smarts. The fact he looks like he could do the run-with role certainly appealed to me.

I've got no problem with Taylor - I love the look of the kid, just in fits of laughter about her thinking we'll take a tall forward.
I don't mean to be too blunt... but she would know a hell of a lot more about what we are looking at than you

Generally is very close to the mark and is a gun

I don't know why people get so worked up by what the media says. The only ones they ever tend to get right about us are Falcons players and they link so many of them to us that they are bound to be right every now and then.

Just post a link to the post I'm too lazy.

I think it's a bit more than that by the sounds of it.
Why do you care? I wasn't addressing you. :p

I was the only person who had Lang ('cause muttonchops changed his prediction yesterday). But Johnny Cattery has now selected Lang meaning I don't have him to myself anymore.

You mean can't polish something that looks brown VC? Really interesting.

Back on topic. It will be fascinating tonight. Whilst I think we will go a mid, Wells is the master of surprises in a way, and if we went tall at the first pick, it would just add to that legacy.

I can't help but feel in the end we might get an elite slider tonight. Someone we didn't expect.
It's so close between the picks, someone we can't pass up might get squeezed down to pick 16.

Who? You are asking the wrong person! Salem or Lennon? Acres looks a good sort too.
Dunstan sort of looks too obvious for me, and for some reason Wells is rarely obvious.

Does it belong in this thread?

Gysenn, VC let people have their tipping thread.
And I have no respect for people who indulge in character assassinations in forums on the web.
Not in the tipping thread, no.

There's nothing wrong with it being discussed, though. People say - "let's grab him!", I'm allowed to disagree because of "...".

As an aside, Quayle has Cripps going at #13 and Lobb at #14.

Talk about coming home with a wet sail as a lot of talk has/had them available for our second pick (#36).

Tonight is going to be some fun viewing.

Can't wait. Sounds like there should be a few that slide...

I've also seen Sydney linked with Tom Cutler at 14 (as well as us at 36), so hopefully there should still be a few gems available come 36 and 41.

God I hope someone pulls the trigger on Taylor before our first pick.

Motley is to Lewis Taylor what meto is to Travis Varcoe...

I'm with Motley all the way, not with you sunshine,...we need to to start picking some big bodies this draft not short people.
The man-child types have got plenty of upside, Voss and Matthews were hardly ever skinny little whimps and they did ok!
Dunstan and Robertson :thumbsu:

Ah, I thought I was right picking Motley as your type, Meto! Not sure how much he'll enjoy that tag...

As for bigger bodies - I agree with you. But every so often, a 10-15 year talent pops up at your pick. I wouldn't want to see my club pass that talent up - if Lewis Taylor or Blake Acres does indeed prove to be that talent - for the sake of drafting somebody bigger to fill a 1-2 year gap.

Agreed.

Where does Taylor go from where he is? He's already a "big" 173cm player, any further muscle growth could limit his speed and agility.
