Didn't get to watch the game live so have just seen the full replay. What a game! That's the first finals-like game I've seen all year. There was definitely something extra in it. And don't underestimate what that means for our opponents. Context is everything. This game almost screws Richmond's season. They have a mountain to climb now. Listening to the post-game coaches interviews, I get a strong sense of two individuals who hate hate hate losing to the other. I wonder if there's still something from 04 about it as much as the more recent tussles? But whatever it is, it's personal. Almost too personal. What surprises me the most from the year so far is just how reliable three players have been: Close, Stengle and Atkins. Who would have thought at the start of the year that those three would consistently be in our best most weeks? It was a delight to see Henry back. I think I recently said I was close to putting a line through him for the season. Well, where's that eraser? He can still play a big part. That pack mark at the end was incredible! Although I still think one of these days Cameron is going to take one of our key forwards the way he runs back with the flight straight into their path sometimes. Maybe it's just me? Favourite performance was Cam Guthrie. We've seen him get a lot of the ball in some games this year, but he just had that something special this time, a bit of the Max Rooke's about him - a sort of unhinged love of the contest. I like it. If you find some time to watch the re-run of this game later in the week or in the year or in the next 50 years, I thoroughly recommend it!

Mate...a little advice...try paragraphs..more people will read your stuff...

Great win. Awesome to fight it out when we were being overrun at the end. I was already prepared for a loss after Rioli kicked that clutcher.

Henry fantastic under pressure.
Stewart gets on with it to be BOG.

Cameron.
Close.
Atkins.

Tiger tears = priceless. 👍👌

If you drop Kolo and/or Merrick, who comes in? Henry back to defence to replace Stewart, and Rohan in to replace Henry up forward, are the obvious changes.

Not that I think either should be dropped.

But the only other possible change that could be made is Kolo out, Blitz to defence, and one of Neale and Conway into the ruck. Don't see it happening.

Right. We don't go over the Richmond board to gloat.
I don’t get this attitude. Our board is the same, tribalism I do truly get. Heck, I’m as one eyed as anyone.
But…. I enjoy the BF forums as I like to see opposition views on things.
I welcome other posters views on our board when they are honest opinions and not flat out trolling or baiting. Others on our board don’t and I can’t understand that attitude.
I came on here mainly to see what you guys thought about the Stewart/Prestia incident and it escalated to talking about both sides and their chances for the rest of the season.
It seems I ain’t welcome to enter discussions with some and fair enough, it’s your board. But I don’t get how you can’t have a civil discussion with opposition supporters without it descending into a “ why are you on our board” or similar path.
I came on here not to insult nor attack your team, just to see your supporters views but realize now that I probably shouldn’t have posted. Blues board is very similar so I’m out of here.
Good luck to both sides for the rest of the year👍

I’ll help you get some perspective. Geelong gets 9 x genuine home games a season that involves significant home ground advantage …. at a ground you train at and teams rarely play at. And it’s dimensions are unlike any other ground so it’s foreign to every team who visits - it’s no coincidence you win 90+ % of games played there. MCG tenants get 4-5 genuine home games a season. A home game against Essendon, Carlton, Richmond, Melbourne, Hawthorn, Collingwood provide no home ground advantage. And a home game against Roos, Cats etc… it’s minimal as teams play at the MCG all the time.

And MCG teams don’t train on the ground.

I can understand the frustration of playing a home game against Richmond at the MCG. But do Essendon complain when they play Richmond in Dreamtime at the G as a home game? Or Anzac Day against the Pies at the MCG as a home game ?

Cats get 9 x games a season with a huge home ground advantage other Victorian based teams don’t get. Then you get 7-8 x games at a mixture of MCG and Marvel, which provide very minimal disadvantage. So please don’t think you’re hard done by overall during the H&A season as it’s just not true.

Im sick of these utterly stupid posts from teams supporters who get massive home and away advantage.

stop just looking at the home games and look at the effing away games as well.

geelong plays 13 away games a year. Richmond plays about 5.

saturday nights game had a massively biased crowd in favour for richmond. At geelongs home game and richmonds so called away game. Its a disgrace to our game. Geelong is the most disadvantaged team in professional world sport. Richmond has one of the biggest benefits.

Im sorry you feel that way TC - you better than most understand how we try to operate here. Its sad that you have been forced to concede what you posted above.

We have tried to maintain the balance here and will continue to do so as we feel its the right thing to do. CC getting an infraction has us all wondering too but but he must have gone to their board and done something - but whatever it was im sure they feel it was warranted.

GO Catters
Rules and etiquette only work if all attempt to play by the same standard. I have no idea what tempted him to post on the thread, I would not have, it was tempting fate yet considering the way he was treated.. do we really think Rich supporters brought anything to the post gaje review other than gripes. Home ground advantage discussion? At a certain point, if they want to act like China we have to draw the line. If not a total ban then I think a harder line is definitely worth considering.

So why do you tiger flogs bitch the loudest when you have to play in Geelong instead of just sucking it up and getting some obviously well needed experience at the place? :$

Besides the majority of clubs we play in Geelong are interstate minnows we would normally beat anywhere anyway. Most of our big drawing home games against big opponents are played at the MCG.

Cope harder.

There’s a separate thread for the Stewart/Prestia incident.

I’ll explain once more, the reason we get so “go back to your own board” we simply can’t even comment and write a simple post like you have just done and put it on your board without getting banned.
Hence the annoyance that Richmond fans can come here but we can’t have a general discussion there.

No one cares , I don’t see any Geelong supporters rushing over to your board for an exchange

The fact you have so many over here abusing and whinging is amusing at best
They’re automatically banning any Geelong posters over there simply for just ‘liking’ a post.

Extremely insecure and over sensitive.

Like I said, I know that some of our posters appear precious and object to opposition supporters. I don’t agree with them so I get where you’re coming from. But two wrongs don’t make a right.
Anyway, that’s the last post from me on the subject.

I’ve been getting sick of reading they would’ve won if Stewart hadn’t taken out Prestia.

You also would’ve won if.
Bolton kicked the goal 10 meters out

Lynch kicked the goal 10 meters out

Lynch didn’t drop an uncontested mark 15 meters out.
Also, if it had been played at a narrower ground I think it might have straightened them up.

You seem a calm, sensible poster, and I'd welcome you to visit our board whenever you wanted to discuss a subject of interest.

Unfortunately, there's been a lot of emotional heat around the Prestia incident, and some on both sides have crossed the line of respect and courtesy.

Don't let that deceive you. We have a good share of calm, sensible supporters here too, who have openly acknowledged that Stewart did the wrong thing and he deserves a whack.

Most importantly, we hope that Prestia makes a full recovery, with no lingering effects, asap. That sentiment has been lost in the volley of insults between both camps.

Your call of course, but for mine I hope you can see past the carry on and feel welcome enough to come back here again one day.

It's like people need reminding what exactly a home game advantage is supposed to entail.

Familiarity with the ground.
Supportive crowd.

Richmond gets both at every MCG game and denial of this is disingenuous at best.
