Great win by the Cats

Fantastic day for Dazbroncos - going to Disneyland and seeing the Hawks smashed by 86 points on the one day

Geelong won 3 flags but theres not much hatred - where as Hawthorn - there is universal hatred accross the board ( all teams ) for them - 17 teams supporters are enjoying their demise

He is one Hawtorn player I have always liked, but that Burgoyne incident in last quarter was equal parts WTF and also a real end of era moment. 'We demand a free kick for minor contact and if we don't get it I am just going to fall over and hold the ball.'
It was the kind of reaction you expect from someone getting flicked in the eye...except it was his mouth? Genuinely odd.

Yup agreed. I've always been a Chris Scott defender; just look at hawthorn now and realise we have never been that bad under Scott. Hawthorn have hit the Brisbane dilemma whilst we have avoided it. Weren't we meant to crash and die without Enright and Bartel? Every year there are more retirements and every year the club continues to play well.

Listen i understand what your point is but hawthorn just come off a three peat of grand finals and top 4 finish last year. So it's not really the same thing you don't touch your list when your winning flags. It's happened to all the dynasty lists players get old they fall and fast i didnt see the drop off like this coming. I thought they would be bottom off 8 and just battle.

Geelong hasn't been to a grand final since 2011 and hawthorn have been up since 2008 right around our period of dominance so really i think they scraped every single ounce of talent out of that list. But now they will pay for it ! We regenerated a bit better over the years because we needed too! And we stayed competitive except 2015 lets say

Just polar opposite scenarios for mine

The way the Dawks gave up once they thought the game was done was a disgrace really. A pea hearted effort.

I gotta say Menegola had a ripper game today too.

Parsons will get a week for that elbow. Menegola should get a fine.

Both should get a medal

If that was Hodge doing that just imagine what we would be saying about him.

Totally agree with that. Thought it was very, very ordinary from Parsons. Will almost certainly get multiple weeks I would have thought.

That aside, obliterating the Hawks on the scoreboard and in general play was utterly delicious.

Ruggles really has a crack so I want him to succeed but a combination of panicking when one-on-one and also poor decision making with the ball isn't great for a small back.

Yeah i agree completely i think he could find a spot in the best 22. He just needs to work very hard defensively and with the coaches he is still a very inexperienced player scarlo loves him. At this point i don't think he has found that balance between VFL and AFL. In VFL he has extra time and can be a bit more creative with his play at present and at AFL level he is trying to do to much and some of the kicks he takes and runs he goes on are probably more tuohy, thurlow counter attacking options.

Just needs to play within his limitations he is never going to be a great penetrating kick. But he can end up being a solid decision maker with a solid kick which will turn him into a solid role player and keep himself in the team

Hard to find a downside today but Thurlow is a country mile away from any sort of form worthy of staying in the side. Good for him that the team is winnings while he is being carried. A couple of outs this week will save him again for me. Best game I've seen from Menegola by a long way. Used it better than usual. He's important in the middle, allows Guthrie to play half back where he can be a star.

Has anyone found Cyril yet?

He's probably hanging out with Puopolo. Got a feeling Puopolo was a late withdrawal and they just replaced him by drawing a beard on an Auskick kid.

Perhaps Parson's has a bit of the Mooney running thru him....

Go Catters
Very astute observation Daz(as always).
I've felt that the player we've missed most...from a premiership contention point of view....has been the big hairy dog.As much as he calmed down during the "run",the crazy whacks he handed out in the early days stayed in opposition defenders minds, and I suspect he'd remind them of what he just "might"do if they misbehaved. The punch to the back of Scotty Thompson's head felt at the time that he was reminding people of what he "might" do,as he'd reformed by then.

What it felt like today, was that first Sammie Menengola, and then Parsons, came out after half time to "punish"the good bloke for his endless rough handling of Cockie in the first half...and having the cheek to laugh in Cockies face after doing it.

Parsons will pay the price for the hit...as he should.....but when he did it,I turned to the missus and said "son of dog" just hit the stage.
Early days I know...but when you throw in my lads(Rugs) and Sammie's aggression,we might just have the tough edge that every premiership side seems to have.
