Autopsy Geelong defeats Hawthorn

That is disgusting! Trust me we are not all like that! Unfortunately there are supporters from both mobs that take things too far but still plenty of good ones from both sides out there.

Agree with this. One melt from a supporter or two and suddenly there's wide sweeping generalizations made about the whole clubs supporter base. While there was the standard issue dickheads on here last night there was also also a lot of cats fans who took the win with class and humility.

Its been a long time since 10 had the broadcast rights

Eventually there'll be a screen grab of him having his half time chat with the umps available from last night. Will post it when I come across it ;)

You guys know he did, it's not a big deal. I've got a theory on why there's so much "hate" between supporters of our clubs: they're very similar. They do very similar things on the field to achieve success. The things you see in your rivals that annoys you so much is the same thing you see in your heroes that you admire so much, it must be very conflicting.

Couple of observations:

1. Isaac Smith: you're already a champion of this club. All of our past champions have had setbacks, you've lost nothing by what happened last night. You'll still be one of our greats.

2. Jack Fitzpatrick: you've really got something mate, an ability to get the ball is huge. Get some confidence, believe in yourself, things will happen.

3. Brendan Whitecross: it's like a brand new recruit, one with quality and experience. You've been a stalwart of this club and deserved a decent break, but you've taken it with both hands brilliantly.

4. Outsiders have told me that the game was one of the best finals ever. I was also at the 1984 semi vs Essendon, which was apparently the greatest of the past. I've never watched or wanted to watch a replay of the 1984 game, and won't be watching this one again.

We're still in this finals campaign, and it starts again next Friday!

Barracking for a successful club makes you an expert does it? Did you keep your mouth shut between 1991 and 2008 when the Hawks were easybeats? If I was you I'd show himself a GWS membership form because you'll need a successful club to support once Hodge, Mitchell and Burgoyne retire.

And let's face it ... GWS could really use some members eh? If I were you, I'd be a little more concerned about playing Sydney than hanging crap on Hawthorn.

Remember one thing. I know everyone's all excited about the future of GWS, but there are no guarantees in life and the future does not guarantee GWS success. You have to earn these things .. something GWS knows nothing about.

All the best in your FIRST EVER final.

You must have been watching a different Howe to the one that I was watching. As for Spang, lots of players come back from extended injury problems and contribute well (WhiteX for example). Writing players off for the sake of it is not helpful, and quite naive as well.

Howe stopped two certain Geelong goals last night, in a game decided by under a kick that's a good game.

What if he's cancer free next year and lives a long happy life as a 4 time premiership player?
This is the game thread, yours is a good post in Roughie's thread.
Rough wanted to be out there, I wanted him out there, we all wanted him out there and probably would have won with him.

Did you actually watch the game? Are you member of the Spangher clan? Do you think calling the four time premiership coach that has guided us to a top four finish during a rebuild brain dead is a good call?
Don't even bother Gralin, that tool is so smitten with Kawai eyes over spangher it's bordering on creepy. The sooner spangher is delisted the sooner we can get on with our mikeder free threads the better.

No matter what happens, Hawks supporters don't jump off the bandwagon that easily, most of us have been through plenty of tough times. GWS supporters on the other hand... well we will see.

And so have I. After the 2008 GF, this board was inundated with sooky cats fans who couldn't handle losing. They gave us so much crap (and still do) that eventually Hawks people began to fire back. Nick off Rock Head.

I agree - they are the team that worry me big time.

I think GWS' lack of finals experience will go against them. They are great in terms of talent but they haven't played finals before and the pressure will take its toll. I can't see them taking out the flag, coming form outside the eight last year. West Coast couldn't do it last year and neither will GWS this year.

Lucky the majority of you are capable of making your own decisions rather than just reacting blindly based on a supporter's loyalties. I'll leave you to it. Like Clarko said, "chin up".

Exactly, GWS have won nothing, and some campaigner is talking big like they've already won the premiership and next year as well.

They're just an artificial club with huge draft pick and salary cap concessions.
No one cares.

Listen hear sunny. Before you go blabbing your mouth you need to get your FACTS correct. You clearly were not around between 1991 - 2008 or have no idea about our club the most successful AFL club in the last 60 yrs. Your word of reference "easybeat" is way of the mark.
Here are some stats for your to ponder. Let me tell you, most clubs would be envious to get a sniff of finals.

For your diluted information read the THE FACTS BELOW.

1992 - finished 5th played finals.
1993 - finished 4th played finals.
1994 - finished 6th played finals.
1996 - finished 5th played fianls.
1999 - finished 9th just missed finals by 2pts for a drawn game and a couple of 1pt losses.
2000 - finished 8th played finals
2001 - finished 6th played finals but for dubious umpiring decisions in the prelim would have played in the grand final.
2002 - finished 10th with 11 wins, in any other year would have played finals.
2003 - finished 9th with 12 wins, again would have played finals in other year.
2006 - finished 9th with 11 wins.
2007 - finished 5th played finals, famous kick by buddy against Adelaide to put us in front at Etihad.

So you see Sunny, get your facts right before you conjure up terms to describe our club. I would say the record speaks for itself and teams such as the doggies, saints, dees, or even the blues last 10 years would kill to have a record like the one above.

Go back to barracking for your American Franchise Club, clearly manufactured by Headquarters and leave us to go about our business of PLAYING FINALS AND WINNING PREMIERSHIPS.

Noticed Hodgey having a quiet chat with the umps at the end of each quarter. Seems to have a nice rapport with a few of them.

Not sure you read what I posted. Your captain goes out of his way to talk to the umpires at every opportunity. The captain of every AFL team would talk to the umpires at the end of each quarter so the fact that Hodge talks to the umpires at the end of quarters is not unusual. It's most unusual for players to eyeball an umpire after every break in play and say a few choice words. Well played to them.
