And CS has been very loyal to Menzel. At his best, which we can't rely on sadly, he is excellent, and possibly a favourite player for manyCat fans still. Nothing wrong with that loyalty. How do you know he wants out? He might just want some security. One year contracts each year in his position seems very fair. If he agreed to that, must keep, imo

On Menz..He looked like he was playing sore last week (maybe an excuse for his poor game) but just before qtr time I noticed he was really struggling to move

Cam Guth is very very fortunate that so many of our medium/small players are hurt... he'd have been close to getting dropped as well if we had depth IMO

Agree with that, Menzel is a defensive liability and Motlop not much better, teams will eat us alive in september if they both play, real concern. Cant just rely on Menzel to kick goals, needs to do more

A bloke of his size, strength and physical attributes and he plays softer than Sam Simpson who looks 12 and weighs the same.

It is up to our MC & medical team to get them in peak condition for those games. That is what this is about, no doubt. A fit Menzel makes us a danger, otherwise a liability

Just happy Stanley is gone. Can anyone tell me the difference between "managed" and "soreness"? Sounds like the AFL equivalent of corporate speak to me...

Managed means they can be in the 25 and come in if someone is sick with soreness they can't. That's the only difference.

Why are you getting your back up about Motlop, do you seriously think he should be in the side because if so you need to wake up, the guy is a liability and wont be at the club next year, im entitled to my opinion and i think you will find most posters on here have the same opinion of him.

I agree, Cam Guthrie and Steve Motlop are front and center for mine, but Stanley is right there with them.
I recall the channel 10 intro for the 2011 GF and how it mentioned Geelongs "flint hard senior core" and it was spot on, that's why we were so bloody good back then. We had HARD blokes. Now that isn't blokes that go out punching others but guys who give everything to every contest, every kick is with intensity and purpose, every handball like it meant life and death.
I watch those 3 above play and every kick is a "meh" kick with no intensity or impact, every handball a soft lolly ball not a bullet with intent. Every contest is a shirk, every run is a jog, never a sprint.
I've had enough of it personally.
Hmmm... went a bit ranty there didn't I....

Motlop listed as 'managed' means he won't be playing VFL, so not necessarily dropped. Will know more in a weeks time whether he comes back via the twos or straight into the seniors.
