Perhaps you should practice what you preach. Your assertion that Stanley beat Jacobs last week doesn't stand up using your own criteria. It seemed obvious to me that Jacobs was clearly superior both in the ruck and around the ground.

Personally I'm glad Buzza is getting another run.
Reference was only to ruck not around the ground. adelaide rucks clearly better there.

I'm not really making excuses. I'm just pointing out the more likely reason for those losses - and I'm doing so by examining each situation individually. On the other hand, it appears that you are trying to shoehorn the situation into your narrative, especially by broadly stating 'ordinary form away from Geelong'.
Narrative? They are the results away from Geelong. You can try and explain and dress them up anyway you like. They speak for themselves. If you accept them and think something will magically change by us doing nothing good for you. I'd like to see some hard, convincing footy away from home against a decent side and happy it appears we're doing something about it.

To be honest I was quite shocked this week to see Stanley out, especially considering we are coming up against one of the best mobile ruckman in the competition.
Had a ruckman ever had a hard tag around the ground? If not then Stanley's athleticism could've made this possible.
Kruezer will aniliate Smith IMO

Unfortunately I doubt that Stanley would understand what it means to apply a tag

prediction:

buzza will have less then 8 touches, 0 contested marks and get smashed in the ruck. but there will be plenty of supporters of his performance regardless because they will see one marking contest where he gets close, drops it and by luck another geelong player player roves the ball and kicks a goal.
I agree, but Stanley isn't offering enough benefit to keep a two-game player out, and when you're a senior player you simply must do at least that.

wow and this is the crazy religious stuff right here. Stanley had double the marks in the two games they played together and more disposals in the brisbane game then Buzza in both his games combined. As for the talk Buzza is far far better them stanley in effort, well Stanley had more 1 percenters then Buzza in those two games and the same amount of tackles. Theory blown. Ofcourse religious nutters just respond by making up something else that cant be provable and then use this made up thing as an argument. Go right ahead.

What the hell are you talking about with this religious nutter stuff?
If you want to cherry pick stats Buzza had more tackles in his debut game than Stanley has had for the last three weeks. Look with your eyes and watch the game not stats they mean very little.
Stanley is a very soft and timid footballer. He is one of our biggest players yet plays like a mouse with his attack at the football.
As I said I've seen Buzza with my own eyes attack the ball and crash packs (against Brisbane) something I haven't seen Stanley do all year. I don't care Stanley getting more marks because he was playing around the ground as opposed to Buzza staying up forward, and although he wasnt clunking marks his attack created at least 2-3 goals for us. I look forward to your stupid straw man argument in reply about crazy religious people.

That would be a big improvement on his last two games. but i would still prefer Stanleys average output over the past month to even your optimistic hopes for Buzza. How come you dont mention his ruck work? he will definately be spending some time rucking this week.
His ruckwork is nothing but average. If he's any good he would be replacing Smith as our 1st ruck. The truth is that he's worse than Smith as a ruckman and Buzza gives us more contests as a key forward. Stanley is not just a liability, he's total useless

My predictions for Buzza:
- 3 inside 50 marks
- 2 contested marks
- 6 marks in total
- crash another 6 packs within 65m of goal, bringing the ball to ground for smaller guys to get to work
- kick 2 goals
- to be a livewire and bring energy to the forward line

If he can take two big marks and kick 2 goals he will go a long way towards securing his spot. If he can show real physical presence while kicking goals he can be the something few others have shown.

If he was omitted/dropped he would be playing VFL this weekend. The fact he isn't playing at any level indicates that it's something other than poor form that has seen his omission.

He hasn't been playing well and if that was the main issue they would throw him in the VFL for a week or 2 (minimum) to find form prior to finals. No football and having a break does indicate he is being managed as suggested
I new someone would come and cry me a river about the spud.

You can think what you want about me but I'm not defending Motlop - I've been calling for him to be dropped or moved back to his natural position as a small forward.

The club hasn't been scared to call out players this year when they have been omitted - they put those letters beside Stanley's name this week and he'll return to VFL to hopefully never be seen again.

The reality is that if Motlop was omitted/dropped where he was in a position of returning to the VFL to find form he would have had the words omitted beside his name. By listing him as managed it means he isn't available to play at any level this weekend - so no VFL.

If the only reason to leave him out of the seniors was for him to find form at a lower level, what then it's the purpose of him not playing at any level and hence no opportunity (this weekend anyway) to regain form and confidence?

There is more to Motlop missing this week then just him being down on form over the past couple of months

I'll admit I'm drawing quite a long bow. But if most of our supporters/members didn't seriously crack the shits at the end of 2006, then probably no review, Balme etc.
No premiership.
Shhhh!

Don't say that!

We all know it was the unconditional support from the fans that caused that success.

Seeing the 'Buzz' at one end and Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay at the other will be interesting. Might justify his inclusion, or, be a harsh reality check.

I'm always for getting behind anyone who runs out in the hoops who gives 100% though. That's seemingly what Buzza is being rewarded for, which is nice to see. Talent is part of it at the top level too however.
