The moment Joel and Patrick first hugged after the game where Joel says "I promised you, I promised you", and Patty crying "You did You did". I would love to know the context of the promise. Someone cuts onions here everytime I watch it.

Best guess would be during our pitch to get Danger from the crows, Joel told him come to us and I promise to make you a premiership playerThe moment Joel and Patrick first hugged after the game where Joel says "I promised you, I promised you", and Patty crying "You did You did". err hem - he had nothing to do with it
In terms of norm Smith
If danger kicked the goal that DK marked on the line I would’ve given him Normy.
It would be interesting to watch that game again.
For all the pre finals talk about how Geelong can't hack finals pressure - that was baloney. No side likes extra pressure. Indeed we have started many finals winning clearances and I50s.
Geelong's problem in many of those finals was the quality (admittedly affected by the pressure) of those I50s, and our inability to deal with the spare man in defence / Hawkins getting double teamed. This was especially the case in the 2016 Prelim against Sydney and the 2021 QF against Port.
On Saturday our forward line gave each other the space they needed. It's why I seriously can't have a bar of Gary Rohan criticism. His primary job was to make sure his opponent wasn't the spare man at a contest by being a credible target. He did that - he was chosen a couple of times as that target (and to be fair could have marked one or two more and kicked a couple to really have a solid game overall), and that was enough for his opponent to have to pay him attention instead of zoning off to play the rebound role.

Every Hawk ever to be honest******* bandwagon supporters
But we ******* got her from the dark side
In what is a very rare thing for me, I actually wanted to read the entire thread before posting and just soak it all in.
Finally I have caught up... I will say though that catempire is a better man than I, for a number of reasons probably but especially wiping out his ignore list.. I can assure anyone that is on it, flag or no flag I have no interest in seeing your s**t
Onto the real stuff though. I've been just basking in this happiness since Saturday arvo, I think I enjoyed this flag the most and I think I appreciate it the most from the 4 I've been alive for.
Probably also helped by the fact that I went and it was my first grand final, so it feels different, probably helped by the fact I'm off the gas until after the Melbourne Marathon this weekend so I took it all in, probably helped by just the being close and thinking personally we'd missed our best shot...
And yet we produced such an incredible last few months, a simply phenomenal performance on the biggest stage. Our long term whipping boys all had their moments and played well over the finals, we absorbed and stood up to the pressure against the Pies. Just incredible.
I'm not really sure I can put into words much more, early on we felt dominant from the start and just took a bit to get the score rolling... I took comfort early when Buddy was flying for marks as I knew that isn't his go and if that continues we'd be in good shape. Then in the blink of an eye it was quarter time and I think the general sentiment among me and my friends was WTF just happened... We were floored.. 2nd quarter an arm wrestle, Swans close enough to make it interesting if they were good enough and we came out and snuffed their torch in 5 mins and from there it was party time. The last quarter particularly special as we knew we were home and got great goals.. Loved Parf getting one when coming on, loved SDK getting one, Jez wit the can celebration and of course the Joel goal was something else.
On Joel, what a legacy day for Joel, from Levi at the start, Sammy at the end and every thing in between it was literally the perfect day for our greatest skipper and leader of all time.
I have more thoughts, I just can't put them into writing so I'll spare you all.
Must be time to watch the replay again
We salute you hawk
The full distance hopefullyI have a mate who’s off the beers until after October 2 also.
He can’t run for s**t. I know, I used to run with him.
I don’t know what got into him.
He did the 1/2 marathon 2 months back in 2:15. (The plan was 2:30)
And now he’s doing the full marathon.
His last run was 34km 2 weeks back. Now he’s in taper mode. So he will get there.
What are you running?
What's more unreal to me is that I see him on the regular and am the same age and height. He is very humble IRL, btw.
Nothing to say. Just want to see my little cup icon.
Same, hopefully, we as a club can set an example for how it should be doneI'm not sure how successful I will be in this, but I am going to make a conscious effort to be gracious in victory on the main board over next few months and not be that tedious bore we may have seen from others

Look next to Geelong on the left thereWhat's this cup thing you're all going on about?
I sent the club an email to pass onto him ahead of his 300th and he wrote a couple of personally written emails back to me in response and gave the impression that he is the nicest bloke alive, and having dealt with Danger’s old man for work at one point and asked him ‘is he as nice as everyone says?’ He replied ‘nicer. He’s an utter gentleman.’
