I was quite keen on recruiting him when he wanted to come to Melbourne. His first season was really good, I thought year two was second year blues/wanting to get out of Brisbane.

We must have the best VFL recruiters in the land. The number of recent drafters and trades we've had in the last 6 years alone that are/were VFL elite but didn't really cut the AFL mustard could surely fill out the best part of a footy team.

Off the top of my head with no research:

Dunell, Sippos, Lee, Shenton, Templeton, C. Jones, Curren, TDL, Simpkin, Minchington, Wright, R Clarke, erm, starting to struggle here, any help? Edit: + Ledger, Winmar II, Saad, Milera.

Still not convinced about our recruiting and/or development by the way.

Even most of our top 10 are fairly GOP-ish - again, not saying they are bad, just more towards the standard than the above-standard: Hopefully they will be. I'm talking Ross, Membrey, Newnes, Roberton, Carlisle, Bruce type players.
