WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

If no particular order, but if a midfield player on the list below was prepared to go to GWS + we send them our primary first round pick this year + a late first or second rounder 2021 .... would Geelong entertain getting Treloar in with our remaining 2 first rounders this year to load up our midfield? (And replace a Parfitt type).

Parfitt /Narkle / Menegola

Just seems interesting that Geelong are now considering paying out Steven (St Kilda still covering a chunk of his salary). Can't see a salary dump and a bloke outside best 22 (Jack) is really part of anything related to Cameron deal. If stories are correct, and Pies are prepared to carry a chunk of the Treloar salary, it makes you wonder whether we're on the sniff. The Pies seem to be more focused on picks and salary cap pressure rather than specifically saying they're after players.

And if Treloar has sparked Geelong's interest, I wonder if that changes the thinking on Higgins? If Pies are picking up a chunk of salary and we use the Higgins money on Treloar, we might not be too far off being able to get him in.

Cameron + Isaac Smith + Treloar In = Our window remains well and truly open. I know we're all hoping for the best, but you just get the feeling there will be some collateral damage and Geelong will not walk from any commitment they've given Cameron to get him in the door.

I'd give up a first for Treloar but apparently, the Pies are willing to deal him for a second and pay 30% of his salary. Surely every team in the league is all over this?

im assuming pies would only be paying 30% for the first year and not the entirety of the contract, also i dont think wed have the space for him

treloar is really damaged goods
mental state shot
wife will be away with child, the club he loves has told him to ggf, and prefers degoey

With all due respect, that's BS.

Nobody's got a crystal ball and both of those guys are/were worth the risk. Steven because his best is excellent and Jenkins because he's very, very good back up in a forward line.

What happens if Hawkins goes down injured? Gets rubbed out etc.

Jenkins will continue being valuable even if it's only in the VFL.
Steven was always 50/50 and it looks like we ended up on the wrong end. Still, a pick in the 50s and a few games that weren't given to others. Not a huge loss.
over 30+ will get injuries. no surprises and No BS

Club is having exit meeting with Jack Steven who still got another year left.

Interesting what happens.

Yeah agree, from memory he was touted as going to Brisbane before we had even finished our season, really selfish.

Did his wrist injury that required him to return home & have surgery occur before or after the strong linking to Brisbane?

Trying to work out if the connection to Brisbane started to get stronger before his season was declared over, and wonder if maybe that contributed to the decision for him to return to Geelong?

Reports from the scratch matches indicate that Cockatoo was available for selection in terms of fitness, but there was questions over his form & drive within the scratch matches - if his move to Brisbane was all but done & dusted, could he have been returned to Vic so as to not be a distraction to others in the hub & such?

There was speculation at the time that the cats pulled the pin on his season because he had told them he wanted to leave, now im not sure how true that is but it was a very hasty decision, my guess is he had cracked the shits about not playing near the end of the season then ended up hurting his wrist, told the club he was planning to look elsewhere and to send him home so he could be with his pregnant partner.

Our Primary pick is currently 20 .. Obviously its a guess to what our future pick next year will be ... one would think around...P15-P20. ... and Narkle ....
If that got Cameron done would we move on to Treloar ... have to be very carefull our eyes are not bigger than our stomachs or our wallets.

but in theory .. all three come in... but I think we have committed to Higgins so cant see it happening.

Butter Chicken - Damaged Goods - Mental State Shot

Apart from the Butter Chicken I reckon this is pretty much what we all said about J Steven isn't it?

"This one is a cracker" ............. where you heading with this? The Rance story still has some legs despite the suggestion it was a rumour. Did the person who went early with that get the wobbles up when it started to spread? But then again, Rance is no midfielder so might need to file that under Chicken Korma instead of Butter Chicken.

I wouldn't be surprised if the discussions with Steven about early termination is more around the reduction in list sizes and that the club having seen what they got from Steven this year would prefer to give that spot to a youngster, so they can see what another year of development will bring

Might come down to what level of commitment we've actually given to Higgins. He turned his back on an offer from Geelong last year. If Geelong's list management think we'd be better placed with Treloar than Higgins then I'm sure we'll turn our back on Higgins. No paperwork lodged with the AFL so if it's verbal, then so be it, and stiff for Higgins. Looks like Treloar was not on the table back when we would've advanced discussions with Higgins.

I dont think so GCL... I think he is a flat spare tyre.. Hawkins only ..

I have mention Shannon Neale a couple of times.

JJ..has had his go , to be honest id rather have a grandson of a club champ on the list...

Geelong Grammar student Ollie Lord looms as exciting AFL draft prospect
The grandson of a Brownlow medallist has been rated as one of the top tall forwards in this year’s draft pool — and it would continue a trend of Geelong grandfather-grandsons reaching big football.

Geelong is famous for its father-son connections.
Think Ablett, Hawkins and Scarlett. There’s also nearly enough offspring coming through to fill a senior and reserves team.

But its grandfather-grandson links are also providing top talent.

Exciting prospect Ollie Lord looms as the third grandson from Geelong’s 1963 premiership team to be drafted.

His grandfather Alistair won the 1962 Brownlow Medal in a 122-game career and played in the Cats’ flag the following season.

He would go on to play and coach in the Hampden league, including best-on-ground honours in South Warrnambool’s one-point win in the 1969 decider.

It had been a while since the pair had caught up because of social restrictions.

“He’s grown a bit,” Alistair remarked, as he took a seat at Geelong Grammar, where Ollie is completing his Year 12 studies.

“It’s been about seven months and I think I’ve grown about 2cm and put on three to four kilos,” Ollie replied.

Ollie’s now about 197cm. He would have towered over Polly Farmer in Alistair’s day.

“Polly was only 6’2.5,” Alistair said.

Alistair, 80, was a champion midfielder and Ollie is developing key-forward.

AFL talent ambassador Kevin Sheehan recently rated him among the best tall forwards in this year’s draft pool.

“Athletic tall forward who has shown very good ability overhead using good body positioning to launch at the ball or hold his ground,” Sheehan noted.

“Had an impressive training stint at Melbourne over the pre-season as part of the NAB AFL Academy accelerated development program.”

Melbourne is one of a dozen clubs to have interviewed the Caulfield Bears junior.

There was a lot to like, including his high marking, Alistair said.

“He leads quick, he positions his body well, his kicking — I always told him you’ve got to be able to kick both left and right and handball each side of his body,” he said.

“It’s like all young fellows, he could get the opportunity and he could not.”

Former Sandringham Dragons mentor Josh Bourke recently caught up for a kick with Ollie and said “he’s really becoming quite imposing”.
Someone get that mudlark/magpie off the lawn. Now!!!!
