WARNING TO ALL VISITORS TO THE GEELONG BOARD. You are - for the most part - welcome to discuss the current list management & trading situation at Geelong. However, this is our board, so be respectful of the home board posters & don't inflame arguments (make your points succinctly and move on). And if you're just here to troll, then don't bother or you will be enjoying a holiday

With treloar id worry how he would cope away from his family but if hes cheap enough in draft pick terms id consider it.
You'd have to see where his heads at before you consider it. I don't buy all the crap coming out of Collingwood, it's just a ploy to get him off there books to balance the books. They stuffed this one up royally

So after all that, we're the only team where a club has matched. That's about right.

Already over this trade period, lol.

You would hope that GWS wake up after seeing that and realize that they are playing a dangerous game by refusing to be realistic.

If we walk Cameron into the PSD I will be beyond smug.

2 first rounders is fair, or a first rounder and a player, for Cameron.

The people commenting on here over the last few days that Hogan wouldn't be cheap, don't understand footy, yes he was a gun, but he's had massive life issues, injuries and he hasn't looked the same player since he left the dees. I'm not sure he'll play again. Daniher hasn't played much in three years, but showed when he came back he's still an a grader, hence the dons happy with first round compo, they would get no more trading. Cameron on the other hand, has been the giants marquee player highest paid player, to let him go I would be asking for a first round pick and player that's in the best 22. I imagine their list of players would include Parfitt, Miers, Henry, SDK, Simpson.
We have to decide do we sell the farm for him? I say no, but other clubs will, Collingwood will give their first and Stephenson no doubt, bombers, hawks, dogs, crows, north will all do the same.

Why are we not extending menegola contract, playing for bugger all to bring in a 31 year who was injury prone on more money and trying to land a 32 year old on good money. This has the potential of recruiting Smith and Higgins to impact on these guys like menegola who had a brilliant year this year to walk unhappy with how they are treated, I don't think it's a good look

Still the only club to trade for Free Agents. Twice

Go us!!!

?

Dangerfield was a free agent, but with no FA paperwork lodged, he was simple another player traded in

As for trading free agents - we traded out free agents back in 2013 which is conveniently forgotten:
Josh Hunt traded to GWS for pick 75
James Podsiadly traded to Adelaide for pick 64

Josh Hunt's delisting was actually announced on Sept 30 and we then traded him to GWS on Oct 23, while Pods was delisted on Oct 2 and then traded to Adelaide on the last day of traded period - so both teams could have picked up those players for free, but instead to help make their transition smoother we traded them for late picks

So the idea that free agents haven't been traded for is crap

We haven't forgotten. That's some spin. However the truth is the truth. Those other deals were purely window dressing so that compo wasnt lost by Club A

The only time a RFA will have been traded legit has been by Geelong. Dangerfield and Cameron

No compensation for delisted free agents so that didn't come into it - the delisted free agency period is after the trade period has closed

It was simply 2 teams trading late picks for players they could have picked up for free a couple of days later, but trading for them made the transition easier

Do you think Geelong’s reputation of being generous at the trade table worked against us with Cameron and GWS?

100%

They say P10 is not enough ..fact is they should get zero...

....and in truth we should have got zero for Kelly too. ..although there is a difference between 2 years service and 9... the service you get is the comp.

think its because we have 3 firsts, i reckon gws wouldn't of pushed as hard if we only had 1
That's it. They're going to get a shock if they expect them.

No. Having lots of first round picks from the Kelly trade worked against us.

Plus Lynch going to Richmond. AFL would have wanted GWS to match and it is pretty risk free for GWS to do so given our draft hand. They might not end up with anything much better than pick 10 but they will make us pay it and AFL don't get the Lynch and Cameron to Richmond and Geelong for free sooking. They can say we had to pay.

Get the feeling we may stay very silent 'til at least next Monday (once the matched contract offer expires) and maybe even next Thursday with a few hours to go - to see just how willing they are to f*ck their future and keep a guy who doesn't want to be there.

Going to be a very dull week

Hopefully gws drop their asking price once they have picks in for Hately and Caldwell.
