Game time has a huge influence on who made this list

Henderson, Miers and O'Connor are all in the top 4 in our team by game time. Blicavs is 6th
Err, you don’t need to interchange your fittest players. Think you got your causation backwards there.

Blicavs, Menegola, Miers and O’Connor are renowned as our best runners.

If GWS is only offering 5x$700k (which I find hard to believe), we have both the cap space to up that offer, or we could offer an extra year easily.

It's a bit of chicken and egg.

Your fittest players will need less bench time, therefore will run more kms total. But becuase they're fitter, they will also run more km/min average over a game too.

I think this MC are pretty set in their ways with regards to team structures and what they think works, doesn't mean he's no good.

BTW I wasn't comparing the two because I'm not a moron, merely suggesting that if we miss out on the main target then we try out the young buck who does have potential.
100% Agree, hopefully we don’t miss out

Let me put it another way:

Say we abolished interchange, Blicavs, Menegola, Miers and O’Connor would still be at the top of this list.

TOG is not the cause. It is correlated with fitness.

To be fair before his injury Sam Simpson was great

Still see fogarty with more talent and the better upside to him over a long career. No idea why he gets such a bad wrap on here fogarty... He literally has been injured each of his pre seasons which is very difficult for a young kid to get ahead without a fitness base. His game against north was real class around the ball

True, we need to give him a game to see. Surely better than Jarvis

Jarvis plays many positions... and has a defensive aspect to his game.
Will be our swiss army knife in years to come. Played all down their spine for SA even was even their 2nd ruck as a 17yo. Still has another few kgs to put on and get a bigger tank but has been coming along perfectly as a 3-4 year plan to get him up to GFC AFL standard.
Freddy to date mostly a 3rd forward with little defensive game?? That latter part is his achilles heal atm.
He has shown some glimpses but a few more boxes need to be ticked for me.
Another pre season and some time in the gym should get him up to scratch IMO.
Cheers bud.

agree with this, could see him do a Ling
As much as Selwood is a warrior he is somewhat a one trick pony
The wing wasn’t his go, cant go back, the only other option would be a pressure forward I suppose?
I remember a few years back arguing that JSel is exactly that. A midfielder
People wanted him in the backline because of his foot skills.
If only I could find all the nonsense people were saying, he is a midfielder and midfielder only.
Nothing more, nothing less

I had the same feeling. But I dare say it would only cross his mind if he became a premiership captain this year.
Sadly JSel only has 1 year tops left in him

Contracted until the end of 2021.

Still playing good enough footy to go round again also. Plus, I feel the club with want to do more transition planning for the departure of a generational leader.

Not arguing he’s not playing good footy
His body is starting to let him down and I was saying that I wouldn’t be surprised if he hung them up if he became a premiership captain this season.
IMO there’s no way he plays out his contract, next year should be his last

It be certainly be interesting to see how long he goes on.

All I know is I feel confident that club will want to stagger the departures of Selwood, Danger and Hawkins. Can't be losing two or more of those guys in one season!

I’m pretty confident it will be in the order of Sel, Hawkins, Danger

Sel will stay around the club I reckon in a role post footy along with media commitments.

I don't think you have been watching Freddie close he has no problem with his defensive side he is a good tackler...there are a few on here that will agree to what i just said

I heard that, the question is why, its not like they need him or have an ageing midfield.
Looking for their new midfield bull since Caddy never really turned into that?

Pickett is out of contract this season - wonder if he'll stay in Melbourne or look to return to WA

Hard to judge Jarvis on one game? In particular, his first 15 minutes, which weren't great, shouldn't define him.
Simmos first game back he had a mre in the fiest 10 mins...

then was BOG by the end with game high 28 touches.

Early calls can not end well.

Go Catters
