Fremantle won't trade him IMO.

He would be expensive .. I think it would be a in that zone we see as being cost prohibitive.. where as a few years down the track Darcy as a FA .. so if we like he ..its more likely we look at him 25 or so...

which is fine ..for that part of our recruitment strategy ... but we need to look at put someone on the slow burn ..just like Darcy was for Freo when they had the fore thought to draft him. ..

I havent heard anything about the basketballer ...but thats a long shot play. That should not be considered anything more than spin on the Ruck Roulette wheel... look at melb ... they have drafted Jackson..traded in Preuess. ..and they have Bradtke that fits that parameter. What does it say when I think Melb have recruited better than us ..but they have in rucks imo.

I think him and cockatoo will definitely go sadly i think constable and Fogarty are the 50/50 ones (since they are contracted).

Would do we get for Cockatoo ? Do we want a player ... with list size reduction ...do we need to reduce numbers and it convenient to lose a couple player like Narkle and NC? Ablett and Taylor are two more

If we want a player from Brisbane .. I think its will be costly to get Witherden this year ... and depending on who Brisbane bring in maybe a couple of other player may be gettable. Balleden played a couple of games , but is raw not sure one him .. but is 200cm. ... .

... but one young kid id like to ask about is one from last years draft is Brock Smith. I liked him last year his a tough unit and could see him having more opportunity back in vic than he will up there. Contracted so Brisbane probably say no but thats not much different to witherden and would be cheaper imo.

Interesting that Caroline Wilson On Footy Classified said that Geelong and Brisbane are getting frustrated at Joe Daniher not making a decision.

Two things spring to mind. A) we still think we are a chance for Daniher and B) Does that mean we know Cameron’s intentions as we couldn’t land both.

Maybe if you knock on a lot of doors ..waiting for an answer can upset your approach for your other targets.

Risk to his future health and the risk that places on his family, too. The risk to the club is minimal, obviously.
The guy wants a chance to play football, give him a chance wherever that maybe. There are plenty of stories in sport where people have come back after adversity. The amount of trained doctors on this site is unbelievable.

Risk to who? If he chooses to take the risk to play, that’s on him. There’s no liability to anyone else, particularly if he has a medical clearance.

In terms of the club that takes him the only risk is that it doesn’t work out. He will cost zero so it’s only opportunity cost of who you miss out on in his place. There’s a risk-reward calculus but it’s not as lop-sided as you are making it.
Given that... id prob take him over Schace as the McCartin ceiling is higher - comparing high KPF picks that are uber cheap at this point.

McCartin has shown more hunger IMO than Schace has shown.

On the ethical side, teh club can only protect the player from themselves so much.

If he gets medical advice, and is cleared by several specailists.. ( club, his and an indenpendant) not much more they can do.

The other one I mentioned, Shannon Neale, has a far better leap... but this kid is apparently a bit of competitive beast .

Im not fussed , id trust the club ..just work out a way to add one... I'm over this being an ongoing issue.

You just hope the club changes there concept and get a kid ruck that they haven't done in over 10 years...

Caros info is normally pretty good too.

I think we'd know Cameron's intentions whether we lead on we do or not. There seems to be a narrative that is being created around Cameron that GWS is being unreasonable. Hence, I think he's gone. Not necessarily to Geelong but the more spins and little weird things that happen, generally, it means he is stalling to sign elsewhere.

In regards to Daniher, interesting that we still haven't been told no then as it seemed like that ship sailed. Where does that leave Crouch?

There has been a rule change but it’s slightly different to the scenario you’re discussing here. What’s been banned is the “parking” of picks. Sydney, traded out there first round pick (to West Coast?) then when Blakey was ”matched” they paid for him with lower picks. They then traded their first round pick back in from West Coast. West Coast were given some small compensation by Sydney for enabling this. Don’t quote me on the exact details but this was the principle involved. Practice now banned.

They did not trade their own pick back in ...

Sydney swapped Pick 26 to the Eagles in return for a future third-round pick. That resulted in Sydney using its next three selections (Picks 34, 39 and 40) to match a bid at Pick 10 on star academy prospect Nick Blakey.

But the Swans then traded back into the draft soon after matching Blakey’s bid, receiving West Coast’s Pick 22 (which became 24) in return for a future second-round selection.

so now ... A club, now, will not be allowed to strike two separate deals with the same rival team in an attempt to use less valuable selections to match a bid on an academy or father-son prospect on draft night.

Thank you. That’s the rule change I was thinking of. You can trade out - but not back in. 👍

One cant deal with the same club twice.. 'in draft'

The AFL has moved swiftly to close a sneaky live trading loophole, ensuring clubs linked to top father-son and academy prospects can't strike multiple deals with the same team to regain value on draft night.

so we cant deal with the dogs in draft ...trade our Fr1 for P12 , then after they pay for JUH ..trade them one of our R1's for their FR1. for example .....

I wonder what would happen if we do the first part in the trade period, maybe link a player in. The way its described , the rules apply to live trading only. In the end, it depends on how many points the Dogs need to match a bid. If the Crows bid with P1 they will need 2400 points to match , a future pick deal may not appeal to them

Twomeys put up another top 25 phantom draft. I'm hesitant to trade any of our first round picks. Hard year to judge and only available evidence for fans is 3 minutes of highlights but there does look to be some talent.

Feel young Henry will be of interest, falcons kid, connection to Geelong, hopefully no flight risk.....not that tall though (188) and not sure he's skilled/crafty enough at his height - I'm not convinced but with so many unknown this year the club will know a fair bit about him so potentially less risk?

I like the look of Heath Chapman, takes the game on, good leap and evasive, just won the WA 2km at the combine so suggests he is fit and disciplined. Definite flight risk though.

Zach Reid looks interesting, 202 cm- looks an okay kick, again athletic and there's a moment in the highlights where he is trapped on the goal line and spins out of trouble which is super impressive for his height.

Is Zach Reid related to Kyle Reid who was an undrafted all Australian key defender 2 years ago, who is now living in Geelong and playing for St Mary's whilst being a top up player for the Bankers ?

That top 25 is slightly troublesome if it ends up being accurate. Perkins and McRae are named at 11 and 12 respectively in his rankings, just out of reach of our picks if you add in the compo and academy picks.

So do I.
As for Henry I'm of the opinion another falcon will be high on our list that isn't even on a top 30-40 radar on any other draft site bar one that i've seen.
FWIW. How Nathan O'Driscoll isn't in the Top 25 let alone the best 3-4 WA kids (best mid in this years crop) indicates to me that Twomey hasn't gotta clue as with a majority draft pundits this year.

Just another cut & paste exercise of the last 6 months of minimal games to draw a rankings from.
When the time comes half of them(Twomey rankings) wont even be in the top 25 picked i am betting.

Cheers !!

Who?

With picks 11 & 12 we are in a pretty good position this year.
Here's hoping that the 3rd pick is Number 19 lol.
Yes Yes... before folks highlight we have pick 13... Just taking out Bulldogs pick as it's going on JUH.
The most interest to me is what comes from the Williams, Cameron, Daniher & Crouch compensation does to our position.
As all 4 could possibly move us back to 15 & 16.
Best way to alleviate that pain is to secure Cameron/or Daniher & Crouch IMO.
Cheers Boys!

I think its still early for an exact prediction ... Cal T relies on info ..and his best effort is always his last ..have a look at the variation in his form guides last year Sept thru to his phantom..

Have a look at the changes for Jackson and Pickett ..he obvious got some good info on what Melb would do. Picket was not even in the 30 in sept or Oct
Sam DeKoning was at 22 till his last phantom .. when he must have got info on what Port would do.. Will Day jumped from 18 to 12. and landed at Haw etc...

Screen Shot 2020-10-06 at 1.43.43 pm.png

So at this stage it still a guide but far from definitive. I agree on Nathan ODriscoll by the way ... we love a kid who can play and does well at the testing so depending on who we take wit our p1 and p2. ..if he was there at p3 ..he would interest us for sure

Maybe ... it was not that long ago when other were higher ...like Trew etc .. Phillips at 7 is starting to look like a Joel Selwood type pick to me ... and no Ford at all.
The names will move around a bit yet. ..but the way the draft works is you can only pick who is there so ..at this stage it always feels like oh we are going to just miss on X or Y ... yet nearly every year when watching the draft... come P20 or so ..im thinking gees ..he has not gone ..right now id like an extra pick. I think Gold Coast thought something like that last year ... as thats why they trade for our pick to grab Sharp.

Hey blokes,
Best of luck on the weekend.
Anyone know if the Gary rohan rumour is true?

difficult year for smokies I think... with list reductions... and so many players have not had a chance to play to show off , to show improvement .. even though I want a ruck ..would it surprise me if a lot sip thru? No because ..NABL is going to under 19 next year... so some clubs may just decide to let it ride..

..and the guys that get delisted after spending a year in the hub ... something wrong in that I feel.... but its not about right or wrong ..its about dollars
