No im not interested in Williams, I really just would like to just go to the draft and just bring in kids...

Thought you like him for some reason. ... any way ..as I said. just go to draft ...almost no one just gos to draft now. We have gone to draft almost as much as anyone since 2016 .I think I count 30 selections... the issue is getting into the quality end.

I was hoping Kennerley would become the player we need but with no VFL games we don't really know how much he's improved. We've got the picks this year so we need to make them count more so tha ever. I think we had a good draft last year so it's time to build on that.

Caleb Serong from Freo looks a handy little player, pick 8 of last year's draft. Would be nice to have a crack or two at the elite end of a draft for a change - really is foreign territory for us, through no fault of our own mind you.

Yep it will be good but it now looks to be #11 # 15 # 18. That’s before free agency compos and then you will have the academy players. Very few drafts have 20- 25 quality players and that’s about the mark for our last two 1st rounders unfortunately.

We have quantity but not the quality that they are talked about on paper.

Yes The lack of game has hurt all fringe players.

On ZW Im still of a mind id rather dollar go elsewhere..and look at using player we have or player we draft.

If they ever put NC on the field who know where is placed. Kennerely and others...

The other consideration is ..players type Willaims doesnt resonate with me as fitting how CS like to play. WE might think he gives us what we lack... Somehow a player who can kick the ball well like a Witherden probably fit our game style better.

I will watch with interest to see if we are even Linked to him

Unfortunately you are 100% correct.. unless we get proactive. Be nice to work out a way to use all the NGA/FS bid to our advantage to get earlier in the draft somehow.. get into the sweet meat of the draft

Witherden is one I want but he is contracted.

If the dogs get a top 8 pick we should try and trade that for say 2 teens picks as they will lose their pick on jamarra anyway so all they care about is turning it into more points. That said it may only be worth doing if McDonald is there as he is the player we need imo.

I have mentioned the Dog situation , as you mention , They have JUH. and another kid Raak. Depending on what their pick number is ... unless they can trade to get P1 from the Crows ..they are in danger of having to use it to match. ...

I have mentioned a R1 this year and a R1 from next year ..that sort of gave them points and a player next year .. and gets us into single figures.

But with so many NGA players , maybe there are other options as well.

McDonald... is he the 'in' in kid..now ? I'd do it for a few more players than just him .That Phillips almost looks a bit like Martin , I'd trust Wells as he would have a far better wide spread appreciation. than me... he has been seeing vision for years on these guys. If its mcDonald Ok. If its a Falcon OK. If its Macrae OK... the wheat gets sorted from the chaff any way.. Id say its been a long time since any club has picked a player with a single figure pick that was expected to go in the 30's or later

If he is worth just go get him...if not wait. How much would it cost ... I doubt it cost more than Caddy. Again we have a sold group of games we can judge by and he would come straight into the side.

He's contracted until the end of 2022 and you would have to give up a lot to get him. He's a gun and apart of our future.

Its all relative. Players have been traded with multiple years on contracts before. That he is gun is almost irrelvant ..Linc McCarthy is a gun ..what did you give up for him.

If he is happy there then all discussion is redundant.

Id not sweat it. Most likely outcome is not thing happens. I cant remember many situations where we have traded in a young guys like him under contract.

Give up a lot for a player that couldn't get a game until last week. I don't think so.

Did you see his game? He topped the aftergame votes and completely nullified Essendon's defence. He had 25 possessions as well and has arguably one of the most decisive kicks on the competition. Fagan also prioritizes system, not talent. Witherden not being in our squad has nothing to do with his talent. I rate him as arguably one of the best up and coming defenders in the competition and I personally hope he stays with us because he's already one of our best defenders.

I didn't need to see his game. He was dropped and only just returned. I guess you're one of those that think every player on their list is a star.

Geee taking CS over Georgiades is going to look very silly, unfortunately
Hardly silly. He didn’t play last year and whilst we were very keen I feel it was a reasonable assumption to suggest he’d be there at our second pick. Nobody had him in the top 20 last year.

He does look like an absolute gun. He has some tricks and if the game stays the same he will be the absolute perfect second tall.

Whisper is our first two picks were going to be Stephens and Georgiadis. Rumour was Richmond were going to pick Stephens so we pounced. Port then got in before us knowing who we were going to pick next.

This is the ULTIMATE going early.

Yet to play a game in his first year and that year is a Covid effected one.

Kudos for putting it out there but please dont mind me if I completely ignore it as rubbish.

Go Catters

Has not been mentioned yet but given the likelihood we end up with picks 11 14/15ish as our first two then west coasts pick around the 20 mark; it would be worthwhile seeing if we csn say bundle up our pick 14-15 ish range and our second round pick for a top ten pick from a club that needs the points for academy players early on.

Won’t mind at all.

I know it’s early. But I’m comfortable with the call as harsh as it sounds. From limited viewing CS hasn’t shown anything to suggest his draftbpick status in that his pre-AFL footage he was fumbly, no real weapon other than endurance and a 6 pack. Looks like a switched on kid between the ears but hasn’t shown a spark or a glimpse we are accustomed to seeing. Hearing he’s been switched to a hbf doesn’t fill me with a good feeling either. Evans has looked more impressive imo. We picked him at our first pick so it’s an unpopular opinion Daz, but that doesn’t make it rubbish. Rather exercise my own judgement than blindly following like a sheep... I said the same thing with Grundy / thurlow in 2013 and you probably responded to me with the same thing. I hope I’m wrong. But Georgiades looks like a gun in the making... great second tall. Strong leap at the footy, one touch and a bit of swagger.

Think you’re correct. It was also known that port were keen.

I recall both Geelong and port were keen on DeKoning and Georgiades. We were going to take who port didn’t.

As a tall, it’s quite impressive what Georgiades has done.. when most talls take a bit of time
