I think if Jack Williams was available at 50, you'd be mad not to take him. But he's not exactly fast, and not exactly huge/monster size like the current crop of Key Forwards coming through. I reckon he will slip indeed. But what do you do if Fejo Junior is available also and it's last pick. Fejo Junior would be a point of difference in our upcoming midfielders, as a Winger. He looks very dangerous and high impact.

After Pitonnmeck and Tdek.. do they have much else? I thought they may have grabbed Walsh's brother... Considering the age of those two, I could see the rational of adding a young guy that would take time, but first pick in the draft? McDonald etc seems to make more sense.


In the end , it gets down to how much you want a specific player... and then that selection flows on to others. Us being linked to Conway ...in a way seems to me we have finally accepted that we have frittered away time during the Danger years with messing around. There appears to have been a change in mindset. Add Conway and in 3-4 we have a chance to have guy without looking to vulture other lists. Maybe we get him , maybe not but the link to him is significant.

Even if that involved our current pick 32 and a FR2 for any of there 3 in a row.
Then we can still get the best 2 mids available and also a ruck

I dont think carlton will take conway i agree but i think wce might so we would need to move our pick 33 up ahead of them to be sure to get him. What about 32 and a future 3rd to richmond for 30 and take conway there?

I could definitely see us coming from the clouds and reaching for a player like Joshua Browne, here's his WAFL stats:



Typically though, if we go for a bolter it's usually one that had limited exposure throughout the year e.g. Cooper Stephens, Max Holmes (not that the former was much of a bolter).

Maybe someone like Braden Andrews who was considered a top talent at the start of the year but missed a ton of footy.

You might be right although i dont think carlton will take him its only wce that worries me. Id go conway at 25 and a mid (say roberts or taylor etc) at 33 then in that case and leave a kpd for our last pick.

Agreed. Eagles also dont need a small forward so i dont see clarke going there they either go tall in conway/bazzo/williams or a mid like roberts or warner or hough i reckon.

Dont want Conway and if Goater skips to 29 I'll be very surprised..Goater is better than Bazzo..so move him to Conways place in your prediction and Conway to 32 if you must have him....My Geelong Grammar contact says Conway is a good kid but has a fair way to go to build his skill set to AFL level...

Nah, I rate Williams, but I seem to feel these days you need the exceptional athletic traits (speed) as a 195cm key forward, though not always if the footy IQ is through the roof, but they seem to prefer to draft the +200cm ones instead. I think J Williams will get drafted in the 30-50 range. I think he will be a very serviceable player that does the job, without being elite. You know, a bit like Cameron Mooney, B Mihochek, J Posiadly that type of player. And there isn't nothing wrong with that... You know, a notch below elite, but still good.
