Forget it and move along...id rather draft a kid. We keep drinking from this same wishing well.. A pick in the 30's probably gets us the Falcons ruck and in four years time we would be glad we picked him....thats not to say we get nothing sooner. Darcy played 8 games in year 1.
That’s a fair point, is he that good? There will be a falcons ruck every year but we rarely pick them. The good rucks can play a lot sooner than 4 years and Ceglar would be done by then.
We don’t want another Darcy or the Pies ruck he who must not be named.
But we do need a ruck who can play next year besides Stanley.

I love to be as talented as anyone that is chosen for one game ...but in the big scheme of things, I think Ceglar's best whatever level that was, is done. I absolutely , positively do not want anyone his age again... till our age profile is back in control.

Even me? I’m a free agent next year

Have the Saints committed to them? I know the Crows passed on their NGA prospect O'Loughlin and Dudley. But you're right, there are a few academy players that could really go anywhere in the draft:

  • Mac Andrew - Melbourne
  • Josh Fahey - GWS
  • Bodhi Uwland - Gold Coast
  • Youseph Dib - Collingwood
  • Jesse Motlop - Fremantle
Etc. etc.

Melbourne would be so incredibly pumped if somehow mac slipped past 20. Can’t see it happening.

Hawks are doing that with all their older guys to try and get better picks we will reject it and pay ceglar ourselves..
Bris were looking at casboult on min wage before fort as they have little cap room.
If Hawks pick up most of his salary would we be interested in Tom Mitchell? He's 28 (had to check the Hawks site for that - ugh). Could we get him with our first pick - whatever it is.

Young player, fills a position of need and comes free. Checks all the boxes really.

I feel like Stengle and Schlensog would both be smart pickups. Doesn't cost us anything, both are young enough to be 10 year players but both are mature enough to contribute next season in areas we're thin if they come in and impress.

Realistically draft picks in the 30s this year are going to be a complete gamble with little footy in the past 2 years. There might be some real talent but the chance they have any impact next year is basically zero. Getting a couple in who are more mature makes sense.

Dogs just got pick 43 for Lipinski, probably don't need our picks now.

Am I the only one that thinks this is not a bargain?
I know we weren’t in the running but I would have loved the Cats to pick up Lipinski - pace and great footskills, good age and experience. Thought somewhere in 20-30 would be right. Magpies doing very well in the trade period.

Wonder if that complicates the ruck trades then. If we are not moving up the draft why would we want all those extra picks from the Lions?
I think the club is just as happy to trade into next year as up the order. More list spots and a draft with more exposed form next year so it makes sense. But if we are able to move up this season all the better.

They will want a higher pick than we have. Also we need run and spread i dont think another slow mid helps us.

Cal Twomey saying Cats trying to secure 23 from the Dogs

32 and 34 to dogs for 23

30, 41 and what we get for fort from Bris to hawks for ceglar and Hawks future 3 and future 4

22 and freo future 3 for JC

then send hawks future 3 and 4th and freo's future 3 and cats future 3 to Bris for 18

go to draft with 18 (mid), 22(mid) and 23(brown)
add to this Schlensog, ceglar and stengle and we have done well
