I think the scenario on pouncing on Brisbane's #18 pick (for OWENS) is by using our future 1st rounder.
Not touching our existing picks..
They will be used for the #23 move up i'd reckon.

I’m pretty confident we wouldn’t trade up to grab Conway.

The club knows what they are doing but you have to wonder with the likes of Sheldrick, Allir, Taylor, Bazzo, Roberts, Hough and I think Conway all around the 30 plus mark if just holding our picks isn’t just better. Surely two of those players together is tantalising close to one Draper/Knevitt band. Still Chesser, Draper, and Sheldrick sounds bloody good. Hopefully Allir or Conway slide to that pick we have in the low 40s.

For mine I reckon we will trade up but it will be for a player like Hough or Sheldrick or Banks. They just scream Wells players to me.

You'd need to get a surefire gun to trade our first 2022 pick, albeit that Owens - if indeed he's the one - looks all class.

Twomey's phantom is a bit different to his 'form' updates, which suggests he may know something. I'm not keen on Conway at 23; we need lads who can play sooner rather than later.

It seems we'll miss out on Brown but there are other good half back options.

Taylor was a bolter and now he's a slider it seems.

Schlensog and Ling (??) can wait for the rookie or pre-season (do we still have those?)

If Brown is taken early I’d look at Banks with a later pick. Use our first two picks on genuine midfielders like MacDonald and Sheldrick.

I like how he said Conway was too good to pass up at 25. Like I haven't seen anyone rate him as a top 25 prospect. I just looked through all his phantoms and he has never gotten a geelong pick right. I guess we know who we aren't taking now.

I'm starting to think no-one actually knows what will happen after around Pick 12.

There's so many variables, so many wildly different phantoms, and no consensus on where players will go. It's an absolute dog's breakfast reading all these different articles.

Who's right and who's wrong? For what it's worth, I think most have just linked the players most likely to come, based on previous drafting history - Knevitt (Falcon), Conway (Falcon) Brown (Local and son of former player), Aleer (mature age prospect).

We probably have a bunch of different scenarios in place, and Twomey is probably guessing. He usually gets the Top 10 about right, but after that, he's in the dark as much as the rest of us.

I'll fire Wells myself though if we're trading up to get Conway, lol - that's how unlikely it seems.

Top 10?? hahaha... Noises of our demise has been predicted for a decade.
Top 4 again if we get a good run with injuries and such.
Remember our best is always good enough, just producing it at the pointy end has been our achilles heal.

Even though I like Cal, most year he never really gets our picks right - obviously hard to pick past like top 7-10 every year so very rarely (if you look back at phantoms) has he accurately predicted who we get outside of Cockatoo in 2014

Sounds like we’ll do a pick swap with the dogs on the first night.

Semi-related: Kinnear Beatson said on Road to the Draft that you can’t live trade picks once you’re on the clock to match a bid. Does anyone know if this is new? I swear clubs did it in previous drafts.
