7News?

It was in regards to the deal between Collingwood & GWS for Bobby Hill:
  • Collingwood out 2022 3rd round selection (currently pick 43), & future 2nd round selection
  • GWS out Bobby Hill & 2022 3rd round selection (currently pick 40)

Also worth noting that Hill was originally taken with pick 24 (2nd round) in 2018

What Browne seemed to be suggesting is:
  • Collingwood has put a high trade value on Henry -isn't the talk they want a first round pick for him?
  • He's then reported that the contract offer Collingwood put to Henry was significantly less than what the contract offer to Hill which he agreed to, and thus
  • The perceived trade value versus perceived contract value doesn't seem to match

No idea if it actually is a sticking point or just an opportunity for Browne to hear his own voice
I'm not a Browne fan,but on what he says about that his right on the money

Jhye Clark looks good...so does Cam McKenzie...If we got either of them at 7 we'd be doing ok....

What do you think we need?

Years back I thought we needed a tall back.
And I suggested kolo.
I cannot believe how quickly those years have come around. But gee we have needed him with rivers, Henderson, Taylor (and now Blicavs in the ruck) all going.

I know zero about the draft. But I’m going straight there.

Someone like SDK is a fluke.
KFD and KPF is key.

Wouldn't give up pick 7 if we got it.

With selwood retiring, it leaves only Rohan on our list that was a single digit draft pick.
So what. We have an awesome list of older players about to retire, and a host of players who have been revelations this year. Getting the right quality players who live and breathe Geelong, and WANT us for good reasons, and including a highly talented and skilled brother of a home-grown star...seems straightforward to me.
#1 Priority is OH. I think our club agrees but is trying to downplay and dilute it.

yes..not sure just tossing around ideas.

Gold Coast will want points ..they have 4 aca kids I believe.

I think we have to probably look at a points trade..... if they cant be done then a player trade.

I agree gc will want future points 2023 rather than this years picks. To cover jed walter et al next year.

I agree the best option is to trade our later draft points in 2022 for a 2023 r2 if that isnt enough to get it done (which it should be) thats when we look at if trading sav is needed to get it done.

The Power still holds out hope that Geelong will relent in a deal with Esava Ratugolea even as the Cats rule out a trade.

Port Adelaide believes the 24-year-old has little chance of getting a regular senior game at the Cats in 2023 so are hopeful Geelong will have an open mind by the end of the trade period next week.

Ratugolea, who played mostly in defence in the VFL this year, met with Port Adelaide officials on Thursday.

The Power believe he has little chance of getting a regular senior game in the Geelong side next year so are hopeful the Cats will have an open mind by the end of the trade period next week.

If we happen to gain pick 7 what hope of Adelaide trading 5 for 7 & 36..?
Pick 5 will go to gc for rankine
And i reckon it will cost more than a late r2 to upgrade to 5.

I do wonder if this was their plan with their pick trade this arvo..split the pick and get multiple targets.
43 for sav is fair but we cant use any more picks this year so its useless to us.
Ideally we need to flip sav and our later 2022 picks for their 2023 r2 but if they trade 2 firsts for jhf they arent allowed to trade their future 2nd.
I wonder what other clubs if any are keen on sav?

How about we say no to Bruhn and try work out a way to get Clark and Humphrey?

Get the Selwood and Danger replacements in one year?

Or is it of the opinion that Holmes could be the Danger replacement? I see Holmes more of the outside mould - I Smith, Duncan

Bruhn is better than you think. He will be very good for us. And we can lock him in.

We might not even be able to get clark at all.

He is probably about to breakout.
Right age give his lack of background.
Right size for a key defender to allow Henry to be a true swing player.
Our depth there is shallow. Kolo, great, DEK great, Henry great,
Stewart great, Bews great.
Tuohy maybe a year left, Duncan, not much more

Not sure any of Ports later picks are needed.

Maybe Sav and a F3 for Ports F2

I agree its a gamble.
We need a kpd and if he becomes a good one elsewhere we would look silly.
Likewise if we hold onto him for next year and he spends it all in the vfl and doesnt play seniors then his trade value is gone and hes basically delist material.
So its a risk either way if you think he will do a liam jones keep him. If not we have to trade him now before his trade value is nil.
I agree that our kpd depth is shallow and if we trade him we definitely will need to put a mature kpd on the rookie list.

The issue is if they do that then they arent allowed to trade their future 1st for jhf.

43 (ie. nothing) is not fair for Sav.

PO, is he more of an outside mid with a bit of polish or an inside mid - contested / clearance type?

Do you see him as eventually being that consistent 25+ disposal player or lesser disposals but more hurt factor with his kicking and decision making?

I haven't seen him as a junior and obviously he seldom played as a mid at GWS, so I'm not entirely sure what his strengths are as a mid..

What a load of over confident nonsense

So youd buy some shares would you mate - just chuck the share certificates in the bottom draw - and look at them in a couple of years - and all willl be good
If you want to stress about if a 20 year kid pushes out a senior player then knock yourself out. I'm all for quality coming in, but not everyone can play seniors and EVERYONE should have to earn their spot

People still thinking we might get Clark with pick 8
He’s not making it outside the top 5 ladies and gentlemen
How do you figure that?

Ashcroft, Wardlaw, Tsatas, Cadman, Sheezel, all ahead of him from most draft boards on here, Twomey and rookie.me. Not to mention Phillipou and Humphreys also possibly in front, or at least evenly ranked.

Wouldn't be surprised if Clark was the one who slid on draft night, as he was ranked 5th at the start of the year and is now 7th. Also, doesn't have any unique attributes, only 181 cm and there's always draft bolters as well. I do suspect he or Sheezel may go at 6 to the Hawks (but I probably prefer McKenzie for us anyway - as much as I've loved Clark and he really does have a lot of Sel in him), but there's no way I see him in the Top 5 - and most of the drafting experts seem to feel the same

Makes no sense though given many teams have that need and we know what Sav can deliver

It does if its needed to get one of our three trade targets in. If we can do all the trades without needing to trade him for currency then it makes more sense to keep him.
