I asked PMBangers (the supposed new number 1 “draft guru” on BF) about the draft range of Jhye Clark. He thinks picks 5-12. I think our first pick will be 12-15, so there’s a good chance he’ll fall outside our range.

Thats about it at this stage. Good chance he will not be available. Hope for the best plan for the worst.

He is probably right ..and good on those guys for their efforts and willingness to offer an opinion. They see a lot of junior footy and they are good to reference....but they have their own limitations. How much footy do they see across all the states for example. I always liked to read chris25..as he saw a lot of SA footy. How well do they really know each clubs and their needs.... and there tends to be some players that get hot and come from no where.

The BF mid year phantoms had a lot of names that I would have no idea how good they are..or will be by Nov. For example... in the last week or two Cam MacKenzie is getting a bit of attention... will he continue to rise? The trials saw a kid Charlie Clark play well and he was not in the first two round

There are usually a group..maybe 15 or so names that are considered as possible mid-late R1... and then come draft night everyone things they have a bargain. Some name pops and others slip... and you end up having Robertson in the 2nd round. I think PMBangers recently thought someone like Cadman might go early.

I look forward tp the champs to get to see him and other play.

I mentioned Charlie Clarke a while ago. Has some serious talent.

And there's not a hope in hell we pass on Jhye Clark if he slips to our pick.

Pass on him? Did I say that? If so not my intent. Only that the idea of having someone nail a player to 5 to 12 at this time is still early and it would not be unheard of a player slipping to us. There is a lot time till Nov and lots of players rated as top have often slipped... sometimes slipped a lot. I think Trew was one that was rated as an early chance at one stage and went as a Rookie. At guess Id say Clark would be a good chance to be top10 and be gone before our pick. Any club that needs a quality mid , and most do, would look at him hard. He probably not get past the Pies or Power but just yesterday I read a poster saying that the Pies were into Bruhan and who knows what happens with JHF.

I remember the post...

Turbocat a kid by the name of Charlie Clarke kicked 7.1 from 23 disposals on the weekend.

Another I like, Harry Sheezel kicked 6.2 from 28 disposals..

Both Sandy Dragons

Charlie Clark FP type? Probably have our fill of them now? Would you take him with our R1?

I'd say he's more your high half forward type. I do like him a lot but I'd be using our 1st on the best available mid or a tall depending on who slides/if any.

It's a good draft to have a few top 40 picks imo.

And I'm only basing my opinions of footage I've seen of entire games ... Being at the actual games gives you better insight on running patterns, etc that you don't normally see from replays.

It's hard to make a real definitive call..

exactly. I think we have other needs more than a small goal kicker but i thought that before the MSD. ..but if he keeps elevating...other clubs may value him and the needs for his type higher... and who knows maybe we luck out and JC slides. I do agree that a kid at the Falcons... a quality mid... who is rated highly... I cant see us going past him if by some chance he is there at our pick...estimated at 12-20. Adding quality into our young mid group should be a high priority.

**** we're in trouble if that's true

Not sure why the depth of hate toward Worpal...bloke can play and a different environment might produce the level we saw in his first 2 years.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in the hoops...but that's just me.

Talking to a hawk mate said that the way hawks play now with more speed has not suited Worpel. May not have the tank required.
