I think we are settled with out Rucks for next year and I dont see us going after one. But the think about young Rucks is they are all pretty ordinary until they come good. Obviously they dont all come good. If Freo get Jackson, Meek might be available. Worth asking the question.

I know I will be in the minority here, but I would also take Soldo from the Tigs.

This is off topic, but Jackson is honestly one of the most overrated footballers I have ever come across.

9 touches and 9 hit outs last night (and that's only just below average for him)... Not worth anywhere near a mill a year.

He will always be in Darcy's shadow like he has been in Gawn's.

I actually agree. He’s not quite a top shelf ruck and he’s not even close to a top shelf forward. He does have plenty of time on his side though, especially for a big fella.

Darcy won't be number one ruckman there. He is overweight and lazy, does the tap then stands around watching. Guys like Hickey and Nank are more valuable, they get in and want the ball in their hands.

Just reflecting on all the posts on this thread about potential midfielders coming to cats in the mid 20s bracket (some of which now looks unlikely) and wondered about what it means for Cooper Stephen’s going forward. What are peoples thoughts?

Do we expect him in 2023 to come in and play 20 games (Selwood retire) or will be remain fringe (Parf back in 22 and we recruit another starting midfield ahead of him?). If it is the latter he won’t be pleased and would leave following year?

Don’t rate, hope I’m completely wrong.

With Hopper more than likely out of the equation, I really hope we can snare young Henry. Has huge upside, could be real good.

Have a strong inside line that JDG was considered as a target and but rejected by the powers that be because he was too loose off field and would probably be a distraction going forward.

I think he was just trying to get a bigger offer from Collingwood, no one does this but when players are obviously doing this I think it actually is a good tactic to play along so opposing teams over stretch themselves. Take the game off-field a bit.

He should take the 1m per year as it will go down quickly if he continues with those averages..

Unless we are able to get a ruck of Grundy level then I’d stick with what we have. Get ruck time into Conway and Neale during the season with support from Stanley and Ceglar.
Then hopefully they are ready to take things from the following season and look to add some backup if Stanley and Ceglar are done.

Geelong will turn their attention to securing prized duo Tanner Bruhn and Ollie Henry after missing out on Jacob Hopper, according to Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary.

Report: Geelong turns attention to young duo after missing out on Hopper

I'd be happy with this outcome.

So where is he going? Because there is no way Jackson will start the #1 ruck and Darcy come in off the bench.

Darcy is miles ahead of jackson as a ruck. Miles.
He will be no 1 ruck and jackson will play fwd/somewhere else.

Not sure Grundy is the only ruck target.

Think there’s lots of questions being asked in more of a Lygon St direction. Tried last year and asking the same questions this year.

TDK was dropped late in the year wasn't he? I think he's contracted though and Blues would want the world for him..

I have no doubt we will try for TDK again but hes contracted and despite being dropped late in the year carlton wont release him so i hope we have a plan B for rucks.

Meek is more realistic because he will want to move for gametime and if they get jackson freo are probably willing to release him.

He was and he is. I cant see them trading him while they have a say in it the response would be 'see you in 12months'.

Would love TDK, but even he is more of a long-term prospect that is no sure thing for next season as a ruck.

Probably need to give up much more than what he has offered so far in his career.

Clearly has talent though.

Having Ceglar + Stanley both contracted next year isn't ideal if we want to aim for another ruck. It just gives us less flexibility.

I dont think he ever wanted to leave collingwood it was whether they wanted him.

My thoughts exactly. No harm in asking I guess, but even if they were open to it, I'm thinking once they name their price we will walk away very quickly.

Yep..they will want far more than we should pay

Different discussion this year. Carlton have a cap issue and they need to make some decisions. Recent deals involving Walsh, Cerra Curnow and a couple of others, and a looming issue with Mackay, are changing their situation.

Yeah but tdk cant be on so much money that him going would free up a lot. They would move on mcgovern before tdk if its about cap.
